According to Early Chief of Police David Mercer, Humphrey Pete’s restaurant, located at 102 E. Commerce, was burglarized sometime overnight on Tuesday, July 5, 2011. A forced entry was made into the building and several items along with a small amount of cash were taken.
Early Police Department is continuing to investigate this crime along with another separate incident which occurred Monday night, July 4th when someone stole a BBQ pit that was mounted on a trailer which was chained to a pole in the 800 block of Early Blvd. The trailer/BBQ pit was for sale at the time of the theft.

Friday, July 1
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report of theft of a cell phone. The complainant stated that her phone, an iPhone 4 was stolen while she was at a party in Bangs. The incident occurred Wednesday evening, June 29, 2011.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report of disorderly conduct. The complainants stated that they have been having problems with their neighbors harassing them for the past year. According to the report, examples of the neighbor’s harassment include offensive gestures and making unreasonable noise using an air horn on a semi-truck. The blasting of the horn is reported by the complainants to have registered on the male complainant’s pace maker and that it also scares the neighborhood animals.
Sunday, July 3
*9:32am-Brown County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the burglary of a habitation in the Shamrock Shores area of Lake Brownwood. The theft involved three firearms and other personal items taken while the residents were away for a few days.
*4:30pm-Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a burglary of a habitation. The complainant who was out of state, reported that it was unknown if there was anything taken from the residence at this time. According to the report, neighbors had called the owners of the home to report that someone had broken into the home and vandalized it. The report states that baking soda, food, syrup, cooking oil, coffee grounds, and cooking spray were spread all around the home.
Monday, July 4
*9:46am-Brownwood Police were called to the 700 block of Avenue A regarding criminal mischief. A complainant reported that the glass in the door of his residence had been broken. If a suspect can be identified,the complainant did wish to pursue charges.
*11:20am-Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was called to a residence in Zephyr regarding the burglary of a vehicle. The complainant stated that he found the tires of two vehicles cut as well as the seat of a third vehicle. No arrests had been made at the time of the report; however, suspects have been named. The incident remains under investigation.
*2:28pm-Brownwood Police responded to a burglary of a habitation in the 1900 block of Belle Plain. The complainant reported that he had two firearms stolen, a Remington .280 bolt action rifle and a 12 gauge pump shot gun. A new Husky air compressor with nail gun was also stolen during the burglary. No arrest had been made at the time of the report; however, a suspect has been named and the investigation is ongoing.
Tuesday, July 5
*10:38am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1700 block of Dallas regarding a domestic disturbance. Communications informed the officer who was en route that the male involved in the disturbance had left the residence. According to the report, the complainant stated that she had been assaulted in the early morning hours by the male suspect; however she did not wish to pursue charges, but wanted him to move out of the residence. The complainant was provided civil options concerning eviction.
*2:10pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 2300 block of 16th Street regarding terroristic threat. Upon speaking to the complainant, police learned of an assault that had taken place on July 3rd. The officer spoke with both parties. A warrant is being sought for the arrest of the 23-year-old male suspect for Assault with Injury Family Violence and Assault by Strangulation Family Violence, the report states.
*4:21pm-Brownwood Police were called to 401 W. Commerce regarding theft. A Wal-Mart loss prevention employee had two females detained for theft. According to the report, the females, identified as 19-year-old Franchesca Vianie Borrego and 22-year-old Christina Villarreal, attempted to walk out of the store with a shopping basket with merchandise totaling $85.05 inside of it. The store did wish to pursue charges against the two females who were arrested for theft equal or greater than $50 and less than $500. Each was being held at the Brown County Jail on bonds of $1000.
*5:47pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 400 block of W. Commerce where they met with a complainant who reported a burglary of a vehicle. One item stolen was the complainant’s credit card. When the complainant contacted his credit card company, he was informed that the card had been used to purchase $83.78 in gas at the Murphy USA across from Underwood’s cafeteria, where the burglary of the vehicle occurred. Two other vehicle burglaries are being investigated in the same area, Wal-Mart and Underwood’s parking lots, according to police. According to the report, Murphy USA surveillance cameras did show a red pickup with a camper or a red SUV purchasing gas with the stolen credit card; however, no arrest had been made at the time of the report. The incident is still under investigation.
*5:56pm-A Brownwood Police met a complainant at the Law Enforcement Center who reported that her purse had been stolen at the Senior Citizen’s Center. According to the report, the complainant stated that the purse, which was taken from her unlocked employee locker, contained several forms of identification along with $196 in cash. The incident occurred between the hours of 12:30pm and 3:30pm. No suspect information was available at the time of the report.
*9:20pm-A Brownwood Police officer met a complainant at the Law Enforcement Center regarding a vehicle burglary. According to the report, the complainant stated that while working at Chili’s, several items were stolen from the complainant’s vehicle which included dash DVD/CD player, an amplifier, and 20-inch speakers in a custom box. A suspect has been named in the burglary; however no arrest had been made at the time of the report.
Wednesday, July 6
*1:53am-Brownwood Police issued a male subject a criminal trespass warning for a residence in the 1700 block of Magnolia at the request of the resident.
All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
