Law Enforcement arrests and reports released Friday, July 30, 2010.

July 14

*At 12:36pm, Brownwood Police Department received a report of forgery.  According to the report, the complainant stated that a tenant had signed their (the complainant’s) name on a legal document with Harris Broadband to install equipment in a rent house that the complainant owns.  The investigation is ongoing.

July 15

*At 12:30pm, Brownwood Police were called to the 2700 block of Greenway regarding reckless damage.  A suspect has been named.  According to police reports, the complainant stated that the suspect parks near the complainant’s car and when he enters/exits his car, hits her car with his car door leaving paint damage on the complainant’s car.

*At 11:00am, Brownwood Police Department received a report of Criminal Mischief.  According to the report, the complainant stated that the hood, front left panel and left passenger side of their vehicle was damaged while parked on the street in the 400 block of S. Broadway between the hours of 8:00pm and 10:00pm.  Damage was estimated at $4500 the report states.  No suspect information was available.

July 28

*At 1:13am, Brownwood Police were called to the 500 block of E. Commerce regarding a burglary of a vehicle.  According to police reports, no suspects have been named and at the time of the report there were no arrests.

*At 6:07am, Brownwood Police were called to the 400 block of N. Main Street regarding a juvenile problem.  According to the report, two juveniles had ridden their bicycles through the foyer of a local restaurant.  The complainant wished for criminal trespass warnings to be issued to the juveniles, the report states.  Police issued both juveniles criminal trespass warnings for the restaurant.

*At 12:22am, Brownwood Police were called to the 3700 block of Austin Avenue regarding theft by check.  According to the police reports, the complainant stated that a refund check had been mailed to the wrong address and that an unknown suspect had cashed the check.  The date of the offense is not known, nor is the address or name of the suspect.

*At 1:51pm, Brownwood police received a report of a stolen cell phone.  The complainant reported that a cell phone had been stolen out of her brother’s vehicle while it was parked in the 4200 block of Hwy 377.  According to the report, since the time the phone was stolen, no messages or calls have been made from the phone at the time of the report.

*At 3:31pm, Brownwood Police were called to Wiggins Pool in the 1100 block of Victoria regarding an unwanted person.  According to the report, the pool supervisor told police he wanted a criminal trespass warning issued to a subject that was swimming in the pool.  Police issued the criminal trespass warning and the subject left without further incident.

*At 9:19pm, Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1300 block of Coggin in reference to an assault with injury, interference with an emergency call and child endangerment.  According to the report, the complainant stated that a known suspect had assaulted her and destroyed her cell phone so that she could not call police.  No arrest had been made as of the date of the report.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report of Criminal Mischief.  According to the report, an unknown person threw cocoa powder and syrup on a truck that was parked in the complainant’s driveway on CR 339 in Early.  At the time of the report there were no known suspects.  

July 29

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 43-year-old Helen Marie Cooley Carson for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Grade 3, less than 28 grams and Driving While License Invalid.

*A Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy was called to the May housing project regarding a stolen motorcycle out of Knox County.  The motorcycle was located and confirmed as stolen.  According to the report, an attempt was made to contact the suspect, without success.  The motorcycle was towed and placed on hold for Knox County.

*Bangs Police Department arrested 38-year-old Janet Denise Williams for Criminal Mischief>=$1500<$20,000, she is accused of causing damage to a vehicle.

*At 4:11pm, Brownwood Police were called to the 500 block of E. Commerce regarding a report of theft.  According to police reports, two juveniles that had been detained by the shop owner were written class C theft citations and issued criminal trespass warnings.  The juveniles were released to their parents on scene.

*At 8:35pm, Brownwood Police were called to the intersection of 8th Street and Avenue I regarding a motor vehicle accident.  An investigation led to the arrest of 38-year-old Brian Wellsandt for Driving While Intoxicated (2nd offense) and Fleeing Scene of an Accident >$200 according to the report.  The officer spoke with two witnesses who observed the accident and information obtained assisted in the completion of the investigation the report states.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office was called to CR 270 in reference to a public nuisance.  The owner was contacted and the clean up process had begun.  Toward the end of the clean up, the house caught fire and was completely demolished.  The property continues to be cleaned up and although all violations are not abated, the property is no longer considered a public nuisance and the case is closed with no further legal action.

All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
