Law enforcement arrests and reports released Wednesday, July 27, 2011.

Monday, July 25

*10:35am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Bluffview regarding an unwanted person.  The apartment management requested a criminal trespass warning be issued to the man.

*11:36am-Brownwood Police received a report of harassment and terroristic threat in the 2800 block of Southside Drive.  The incident is currently under investigation.

Tuesday, July 26

 

*5:57am-Brownwood Police were called to the 1000 block of Coggin Avenue, a local convenience store, regarding found property.  A store employee reported that she found a bicycle outside of the business.  The bicycle was taken to the Brownwood Police Department impound until the owner can properly identify and claim it.

*9:08am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 3300 block of Austin Avenue regarding theft.  According to the report, the complainant advised that a known suspect had stolen several hydrocodone pills from his residence.

*9:13am-Brownwood Police were called to the 2300 block of Elizabeth regarding criminal mischief.  The complainant’s vehicle had been keyed sometime overnight.  Charges are being pursued if a suspect can be found.

*1:49pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 400 block of W. Commerce regarding two shoplifters which were being detained.  According to the report, the store loss prevention employees had found the two women attempting to leave the store with numerous concealed items which totaled approximately $150.  The women, identified as 19-year-old Catherine Brinson and 18-year-old Sloan Defoor Stewardson both of Santa Anna were arrested for Theft of Property equal or greater than $50 less than $500.

*2:17pm-Brownwood Police responded to the burglary of a habitation in the 400 block of W. Lee.  According to the report, the complainant stated that an unknown person stole two envelopes from his landlord’s room which contained a total of $25.

*2:24pm-Brownwood Police responded to 401 W. Commerce regarding theft of a cell phone.  The store’s surveillance video was reviewed and a suspect was found, the report states.  After contact was made with the suspect, the cell phone was recovered.  The victim wished to pursue charges and a warrant is being sought.

*5:27pm-Brownwood Police responded to a hit and run accident in the 3200 block of Milam Drive.  The complainant stated that after her vehicle was struck, the suspect vehicle left the scene.

*8:23pm-Brownwood Police were called to the area of Milton Street and Pecos Street regarding an animal bite.  The victim was bitten by a blue heeler dog while riding her bicycle, the report states.

*26-year-old Augustus Myers of Georgetown turned himself in on 11 Brown County warrants and is currently being held on bonds totaling $155,000.  Of those 11 warrants, four are for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office released a report regarding found property.  The complainant, a local scrap yard employee, stated that an individual had come into the business wanting to sell a metal grave marker as scrap metal.  According to the report, the business refused to buy the marker and advised the man to take it to the Law Enforcement Center to turn it in.

The man turned in the grave marker to BCSO and said that his son had found the marker under the Hwy 279 bridge at Lake Brownwood. The marker appears to be made of brass and measures 12 x 24 inches.  It reads:

Sgt US Army World War II
May 9, 1907-May 8, 1981

An internet search did not locate a possible grave site.  A phone call to the Brown County Clerk’s office was not able to locate any information related to the death of W. Homer Higgins.

All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
