Law enforcement arrests and reports released on Monday and Tuesday, July 25 & 26, 2011.
Friday, July 22
*10:02am-Brownwood Police were called to the 1000 block of W. Commerce regarding a domestic disturbance. According to the report, the complainant reported that the father of her child had followed her into her place of employment and was verbally fighting with her. She further reported that he had called her cell phone thirty (30) times and had been driving back and forth in front of her place of employment on Thursday, July 26th. According to the report, the suspect had kicked in the complainant’s front door earlier this month. The complainant did wish to pursue criminal charges against the suspect.
*10:15am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2600 block of Crockett Drive regarding a hit and run accident. The complainant stated that her vehicle had been struck by another vehicle during the night. According to the report, the other vehicle did not leave any contact information.
*11:36am-Brownwood Police were called to the 400 block of W. Commerce regarding a hit and run. According to the report, the suspect stated that her vehicle had been backed into and the suspect vehicle drove away without leaving any information. A witness observed the accident and wrote down the license plate of the suspect vehicle and digital pictures were taken of the suspect vehicle, the report states. Damage to the complainant’s vehicle was estimated to be approximately $700 and charges are being pursued.
*2:01pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 700 block of Cordell Street regarding theft. The complainant stated that while he was shopping at a local pawn shop, he noticed a bicycle that he recognized belong to his son. The pawn shop was able to provide a name and an address of the subject who pawned the bicycle. Investigating officers went to the address where they met the man’s girlfriend who stated that he lived in Garland and had returned to his home. The investigation is ongoing.
*3:58pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 3000 block of 1st Street regarding animal cruelty. The complainant stated that a neighbor had tied up a dog without food, water or shelter and that the dog was apparently deceased, according to the report. A suspect has been identified and the investigation is ongoing. No arrest had been made as of the report.
*4:47pm-Brownwood Police responded to the 400 block of W. Commerce, Wal-Mart, regarding theft. According to the report, the store’s loss prevention employees had a female subject detained after they had observed her concealing clothing items in her purse. These items totaled $72.35. The female, identified as 24-year-old Summer Presswood of Hempstead, Texas, was arrested for Theft equal or greater than $50 and less than $500.
*4:52pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 500 block of W. Commerce, Burke’s, regarding theft. Two females, identified as 20-year-old Courtney West and 22-year-old Talisha Ann Moreno both of San Saba, were arrested for shoplifting. The merchandise was photographed and returned to the store. West was charged with Theft of Property equal or greater than $50 and less than $500. Moreno was charged with Theft of Property equal or greater than $50 and less than $500 with Previous Convictions.
*7:31pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to a residence on Durango Court regarding the theft of a bicycle. According to police, the complainant stated that sometime between 7:45am and 7:00pm, someone stole her son’s bicycle out of the front yard of the residence.
*8:10pm-Brownwood Police received a report of harassing sexual phone calls from a complainant who works at a restaurant in the 1100 block of Clements. According to the report, the complainant stated that the phone calls have been from a man who identified himself as “Tony”. It is believed that the man is a former employee of the restaurant, according to the report. Another employee also reported receiving these types of phone calls at the restaurant as well.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a hit and run at TYC between the hours of 8:00am and 5:45pm. The complainant stated that she had left her vehicle parked during that time. According to the deputy, it appeared as if someone had turned into one of the parking spaces and struck the vehicle damaging the rear quarter panel and bumper. A scratch went to the front of the vehicle where there was damage to the front quarter panel also. The vehicle was parked in front of a security camera and it would be checked the following workday.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible stolen cow, a 2-year-old black Angus, from the Zephyr area.
*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 41-year-old Efrain Estrada for Driving While Intoxicated.
*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 57-year-old Aubrey Gene Ferguson for Driving While Intoxicated.
Saturday, July 23
*8:00am-Brownwood Police responded to the theft of a vehicle from the 2800 block of Temple Street. According to the report, the complainant advised that sometime between July 4th and July 9th, someone had stolen a 1982 dump truck and a large flatbed trailer. An investigation is pending.
*2:19am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Bluffview regarding a citizen’s dispute and theft. The complainant reported that a known suspect stole a flat screen television out of her apartment while she was gone.
*Early Police arrested 20-year-old Howard Lee Adams for Public Intoxication.
*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 29-year-old Michael Allen Cruz of Corpus Christi for Possession of Marijuana, less than 2oz.
Sunday, July 24
*1:31am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1100 block of LaMonte Drive regarding a domestic disturbance. After investigation, 25-year-old Robert Rios was arrested for Assault with Injury Family Violence.
*5:58pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1300 block of Center Avenue regarding the burglary of a vehicle. According to the report, the complainant stated that two men told her there was a man inside her vehicle. The man had left the scene prior to the complainant being advised of the incident. At the time of the report, the complainant reported that nothing had been taken out of the vehicle.
*Early Police arrested 33-year-old Kenneth Dan Flanagan and 27-year-old Kimberly Flanagan of Early for Public Intoxication.
Monday, July 25
*11:22am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 500 block of W. Commerce, to Ace America Cash Express regarding forgery. According to the report, the store manager reported that a known suspect had attempted to cash a check with a forged signature on a closed account.
*1:47am-Brownwood Police stopped a vehicle in the 2700 block of Southside for fleeing the scene of an accident. The driver of the vehicle, identified as 38-year-old Timothy Craig Ryan was determined to be intoxicated. Ryan was arrested for Fleeing the Scene of an Accident less than $200 and Driving While Intoxicated.
*4:31pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 2000 block of S Hwy 377 regarding an assault. The complaintant stated that a known suspect had entered his home and threatened to “kill” him. An investigation into Burglary with Intent to Commit an Assault is ongoing.
*5:07pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1700 block of Houston regarding harassment. According to the report, the complainant stated that she received a harassing and threatening voicemail from her daughter’s softball coach on Saturday, July 23rd. The message was full of insults and threats including to do her bodily harm. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.
*A Brownwood Police officer on routine patrol stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation in the 1400 block of 3rd Street. Investigation showed the driver, identified as 34-year-old Jose Ochoa Pesina of Comanche, to be intoxicated. Pesina was placed under arrest and charged with Driving While Intoxicated with Child Under 15 years of age, which is a state jail felony.
*10:34pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2800 block of Southside Drive, where a Food Plaza employee had found drugs. The clerk stated that they had found a baggie of what they believed to be marijuana near her car.
*Brownwood Police arrested 18-year-old Clayton Douglas Bounds for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Grade 3 less than 28g.
Tuesday, July 26
*2:02am-Brownwood Police stopped two juveniles. During investigation, the juveniles were determined to be underage and in possession of tobacco products. Both were issued citations for Minor in Possession of Tobacco and released at the scene.
*9:30am-Brownwood Police were called regarding a toddler in the roadway on 4th Street. According to police, a motorist was driving down the road when a toddler came toward the moving vehicle. The driver stopped and began honking hoping that a parent would come out of a nearby home and get the child; however after honking several times, no one came outside of the surrounding homes. A City of Brownwood worker heard the noise and came to assist until police arrived. According to police, the officer took the toddler to the police station and the child’s grandmother showed up looking for the child. According to police officials, the parents of the child were at work and left the grandmother babysitting at a home on 4th Street who was watching a few other kids at the time. Police said that the grandmother’s home had the front door gated off properly; however it was determined that the child had found a partially opened window, opened it more and climbed out of the home. No one was determined to be at fault or negligent; however as a routine procedure, Child Protective Services were notified. Police said that the child was returned to the family and no charges are being pursued.
All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
