Friday, July 20

*1:43pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to 401 W. Commerce, Wal-Mart, regarding theft.

*3:03pm-Investigators from Brownwood Police Department and Brown County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Brown County Adult Probation Department with a probation field visit.  During the investigation, officials met with the probationer, identified as 44-year-old Linda Maldonado Cerda, at her workplace at a north Brownwood business.  As a part of the field visit, Cerda’s belongings (purse, clothing and etc.) were searched and a small quantity of a controlled substance and a small quantity of a dangerous drug were discovered, the law enforcement report states.  Cerda was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 3 Less than 28 grams and Possession of a Dangerous Drug.

*5:23pm-Brownwood Police met with a complainant at the Law Enforcement Center.   According to the report, the complainant reported that his Glock .45 ACP was stolen sometime in the past three months.

*7:34pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 500 block of Main Street regarding a citizens’ dispute.  According to the report, officers arrived to find numerous individuals gathered around a vehicle that was parked at the complex.  Two of the subjects stated that they had been physically assaulted by two of the other subjects present; however the other two subjects denied assaulting the other subjects.  The owner of the complex arrived and requested three of the subjects be given criminal trespass warnings, which were issued.  Several of the subjects involved in the dispute were using “considerably vulgar and profane language,” according to the report, and the officers warned that if it continued citations would be issued.  As two of the subjects were walking away, one of them continued to use profane language a few more times and the officer issued the subject a citation for Disorderly Conduct for using profane language in a Public Area, the report states.

*8:15pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 3500 block of Rhodes Road in reference to an assault.  According to the report, both parties were contacted and investigation determined that the complainant was the primary aggressor and had assaulted the other party.  There were no signs of injury on either party.

*9:18pm-Brownwood Police were called to 401 W. Commerce, Wal-Mart regarding theft.  According to the report, loss prevention reported two known subjects were caught shoplifting from the store that same evening.  The merchandise was returned back to the store and both subjects were issued citations and released from the scene.

*11:55pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2000 block of Austin Avenue regarding a hit and run.  According to the report, witnesses at Coggin Park said that a pickup parked across the road from the park in the 900 block of Roselawn had been struck by a white Nissan Pathfinder, which fled the scene after the incident.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy was patrolling on Hwy 279 when he ran a license plate and it came back as expired in March of 2012.  According to the report, the deputy initiated a traffic stop and also found that the vehicle had an expired inspection sticker and that the driver, identified as 26-year-old Rebecca Vasquez, had no insurance on the vehicle.   Vasquez was charged with three Class C Misdemeanors for the offenses and was taken to the Brown County Jail.  Upon booking Vasquez into the jail, a search of her person was made and a jailer discovered a small baggie in Vasquez’s bra which contained methamphetamine, the report states.  Vasquez was additionally charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 less than 1 gram and tampering with Evidence for concealing the methamphetamine, according to the report.

Saturday, July 21

*8:00am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 3500 block of Golding Road regarding threats made by telephone.

*8:48pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 300 block of Market Place Blvd regarding a domestic disturbance.  According to the report, no arrests were made however the parties were separated voluntarily.

*9:29pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 500 block of Cordell Street in reference to a dog bite.  According to the report, the complainant stated that a white pit bull jumped on him while he was swinging in the park and scratched his chest.

*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 54-year-old Nicki Dawn Ralston King for Driving While Intoxicated 3rd or More.

Sunday, July 22

*1:08am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2000 block of 13th Street regarding a burglary of a habitation.  According to the complainant, she had arrived home to find two men running out of her residence.  The men dropped two computers they were attempting to steal as they ran from the residence, the report states.  Charges are being pursued and an investigation is underway according to the report.

*3:29am-Brownwood Police made a traffic stop in the 500 block of W. Commerce Street for a speeding violation.  The driver, identified as 45-year-old Danny Ray Gray of Brookesmith, was determined to be intoxicated and placed under arrest, taken to Brownwood Regional Medical Center for a blood draw and then taken to the Brown County Jail, police reports state.

*10:14am-A Brownwood Police officer was flagged down in the 3500 block of Golding Road by a male pedestrian who had a cut on his head and blood visible on his scalp.  According to the report, the male stated that his brother had assaulted him while he was attempting to get some change out of his step dad’s vehicle while it was parked in a driveway of their residence.  This call led to the arrest of 20-year-old Weston Lee Thomas Teague, Jr. for Assault Family Violence by Strangulation, the report states.

*1:05pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1100 block of Willis Street regarding found property.  According to the report, the complainant found two black suitcases in the driveway of his home at around 8:00am.

*2:30pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 100 block of Market Place Blvd regarding animal cruelty.

*8:06pm-Brownwood Police responded to the 1500 block of 4th Street regarding a man passed out in a vehicle.  According to the report, the man was identified as 42-year-old Mark Ross Garvin and was determined to be intoxicated.  Garvin was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated.  He was transported to Brownwood Regional Medical Center where a sample of his blood was taken and then Garvin was taken to the Brown County Jail, according to the report.

*11:04pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 4400 block of Westridge regarding a domestic disturbance.  According to the report, no signs of injury were observed on either party and the subjects were separated for the night.

*7:40pm – According to Brown County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement officials investigated a report of a deceased person at the Lake Brownwood State Park.  The woman had been at the lake fishing when she collapsed.  Texas Parks and Wildlife Park Rangers, Brown County Sheriff’s Office, Lake Brownwood Volunteer Fire Department and Guardian EMS responded to the scene.

Brown County Justice of the Peace Bob Wall was called to pronounce the death and decided there was no need for an autopsy or investigation as the victim had many health issues, determining her death to be from natural causes, according to BCSO officials.

Monday, July 23

*12:19am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2200 block of Avenue B regarding a report of animal cruelty.  According to the report, police met with the owner of two dogs and found that the female dogs was running loose in the back yard and a male dog was on a chain that was twisted up and had little mobility for the male.  A pan of food was available for both dogs but a 5 gallon plastic water bucket was empty, the report states.  The officer spoke to the owner about providing more mobility for the male and the need for water to always be accessible to both dogs.  Later, approximately 12:42am, the officer received a complaint of an animal at large in the 2200 block of Avenue B.  Upon the officer’s arrival, the reporting party had the female dog secured by her collar after he had seen her chasing cats in the area.  The owner of the dogs was issued a citation for Animal at Large.

*3:02am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1700 block of Good Shepherd regarding criminal mischief.  According to the report, both rear tires of the complainant’s vehicle had been slashed.

*Early Police arrested 29-year-old Early Carter, Jr. for Assault Family Violence.

All arrestees are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
