A 56-year-old Early resident was arrested around 5:00pm Thursday for dancing in his front yard and charged with disorderly conduct/obscene display.

Paul George Challenger was arrested in the 700 block of Longhorn after dancing in only a thong in front of motorists and other residents according to Early Chief of Police David Mercer.

According to Mercer, the department has had other similar dealings with Challenger in the past year.

Wednesday, July 20

*2:44pm-Brownwood Police met a complainant regarding theft greater than $50 less than $500.  The complainant reported her cell phone had been stolen while she was shopping at a store in the 300 block of W. Commerce.  The complainant instructed her cellular provider disconnect service.

*3:10pm-Brownwod Police received a report of theft via phone call which led to the investigation of theft greater than $500 less than $1500.

*4:53pm- Brownwood Police were called to the 300 block of Bluffview regarding criminal mischief to a vehicle.  The complainant reported that an unknown suspect had scratched the hood of her vehicle.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report of the theft of an above ground swimming pool from a residence near Lake Brownwood.  Suspects have been named and the incident is under investigation.  Neighbors stated that suspects told them the owner of the pool had given them permission to remove it before she died.  The suspects have since moved to Cross Plains according to neighbors.

Thursday, July 21

*8:30am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2800 block of 14th Street regarding the burglary of a vehicle.  According to the report, numerous items were stolen overnight from two work trucks and the area around the vehicles.  The stolen items included copper wire and tools.  According to police, security footage was reviewed and a separate incident led to the location of some of the stolen items, which were sold at a local scrap yard.  The suspect information was provided and the investigation is ongoing.

*9:43am-Brownwood Police received 15 bottles of non-narcotic medications which were turned in for destruction.

*2:41pm-Brownwood Police received a report of harassment by telephone in the 1900 block of Main Blvd.

*3:45pm-A complainant met with Brownwood Police at the Law Enforcement Center to report the burglary of a vehicle.  The victim’s vehicle had been left unlocked and electronics were taken from the center console the report states.  No suspect information was available at the time of the report.

*4:17pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 100 block of Avenue D regarding a burglary of a vehicle.  The complainant reported that she left her vehicle unattended for a few minutes and returned to find an unknown male running away from it.  Upon initial inspection of the vehicle, she noted that her wallet had been taken from her purse the report states.  The responding officer was unable to locate the suspect but was able to recover her wallet which was found in a dumpster only a block away.  According to police, the wallet was returned to the complainant with only $14 missing from inside.

*4:26pm-Brownwood Police received a report of a hit and run accident in the Wildwood Apartment Complex.  An investigation is ongoing and the victim does wish to pursue charges if a suspect can be located.

*5:15pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 400 block of Main Blvd. regarding theft.  The complainant reported that an internal theft had occurred at his business.  An investigation is ongoing.

*6:33pm-Brownwood Police responded to the 400 block of W. Commerce regarding theft.  Wal-Mart loss prevention employees had a female subject, identified as 23-year-old Jessica Argote, detained for shoplifting, the report states.  Employees reported that Argote had attempted to walk out of the store without purchasing the items.  Argote was arrested for theft greater than $50 less than $500.
