Law Enforcement arrests and reports released Wednesday, July 21, 2010.

Wednesday July 14

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report of identity theft.  According to the report, a victim stated that while she was in Abilene on July 12, she was unable to pay with a check at a local store because verification of her check was not approved.  This is a problem she had encountered before in 2006 the report states.  A purchase had been made with her name but a different identification number in the Dallas/Fort Worth area according to the check verification company and her identification did not match their records.   No suspects have been identified.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Carrie Lane in reference to a victim’s ex-wife sending harassing and obscene text messages and phone calls since their divorce in March of 2009.  A report for harassment has been filed.

Saturday, July 17

*Two Brown County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to US 183N in an attempt to locate a suspect vehicle in a weapons offense that had just occurred in Brownwood.  The deputies located the suspect vehicle on US 183N at CR 496 and made contact with the driver, Gregory Michael Ohowell.

In speaking with Ohowell, he informed the deputy that he did have a handgun in his vehicle and the gun was secured by the deputy while dealing with Ohowell.  Dispatch advised he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest out of Louisiana for aggravated battery.  The warrant was confirmed and Ohowell was arrested.  Checking further, it was discovered that Ohowell had a felony record from Louisiana, resulting additional an additional charge of Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

There was a child in the car with Ohowell who was not related but had permission to be travelling with him.  Arrangements were made for a relative to pick up the child.  Ohowell was taken the Brown County Jail.

Sunday, July 20

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office was called to the Tamarack Mountain area in regards to a burglary.  According to the report, the victim had been caring for a relative and while she was out of town, her residence had been burglarized.  Items stolen included a washer, dryer, dining table and 4 chairs, a window air conditioning unit, microwave and even sheets off of a bed the report states.

Monday, July 19

 

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office met with a complainant that reported two ladders being stolen from his home on CR 157.  According to the report, a suspect was named and it was reported that the ladders had been pawned at a local pawn shop.

*At 8:46pm, Brownwood Police responded to a possible burglary in the 1700 block of Magnolia.  According to the report, an investigation led to the discovery of the stolen property (a pair of designer reading glasses) which had sustained considerable damage.  The victim opted to press charges against the suspect for criminal mischief the report states.

*Around 11:40am, Brown County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to CR 157 regarding criminal mischief.  According to the report, the victim showed the officer where the driver’s side rear tire had been punctured by a piece of metal that had been sharpened into a blunt point.  The metal was removed and dusted for fingerprints.  At the time of the report there were no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.

*Approximately 12:50pm, Brown County Sheriff’s Office was called to FM 2525 to speak with a complainant about fraudulent charges on her bank account.  According to the report, few charges had been noted on her and her husband’s bank account after she had misplaced the card after shopping at Wal-Mart.  The complainant was instructed to cancel any credit/debit card that she did not have in her possession and to watch any further account activity that might be fraudulent in the future the report states.

*At 12:54pm, Brownwood Police were called to the 1300 block of Brady Avenue.  According to the report, the complainant reported receiving threats over their cell phone.  The investigation is ongoing.

*At 4:21pm, Brownwood Police were called to the 1400 block of Austin Avenue regarding a hit and run of a vehicle.  The suspect had left the scene the report states.  According to police, the complainant wished to file a report.  There were no arrests at the time of the report.

Tuesday, July 20

*At 7:50pm, Brownwood Police were called to the 4300 block of Fairway regarding a family disturbance.  According to police reports, it was determined that the mother, father and a juvenile family member were all involved in assaulting each other.  All three were taken into custody and arrested for assault family violence with injury the report states.  The adults, identified as 35-year-old Melissa White and 36-year-old Edward White, were transported to the jail and the juvenile was processed at the Brownwood Police Department and later released to Juvenile Probation at the Juvenile Detention Center.

*At 11:06am, Brownwood Police met with a complainant at the Brownwood Police Department.  According to the report, the complainant stated that sometime between Saturday evening and Sunday evening a storage building in the 2700 block of Avenue B had been burglarized.

All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
