Wednesday, July 18

*6:40am-Brownwood Police were called to the 600 block of W. Commerce, Stripes Convenience Store, regarding a suspicious subject.  According to the report, the caller observed a female subject inside the store who was looking for her car keys and appeared very disoriented, according to police reports.  The caller advised communications that the woman did not need to be driving and was possibly intoxicated, according to the report.    The woman, identified as 52-year-old Mellissa Scaff Sawyer, was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated and transported to the Brown County Jail.

Thursday, July 19

*6:45am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2000 block of 7th Street regarding criminal mischief.  According to the report, the complainant stated that an unknown suspect scratched his vehicle, writing an obscenity on it. Other vehicles in the area were also vandalized, the report states.  No arrests were made at the time of the report.

*9:17am-Brownwood Police were called to a retail store in the 400 block of E. Commerce regarding theft.   According to the report, employee theft was reported.  The complainant stated that he saw a female suspect ‘palm’ an unknown amount of cash on live video for several hours.  The suspect, identified as Ebby Jo Salas of Santa Anna, was placed under arrest for theft, the report states.

*12:12pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 3500 block of Rhodes Road regarding terroristic threat.  According to the report, the complainant and his girlfriend wanted police to know that her soon to be ex-husband had threatened to shoot him with his shotgun if he saw him.  Contact was made with the subject who advised that he did not threaten the complainant, the report states.

*2:21pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 3800 block of US Hwy 377S, Doc’s Drugstore regarding theft.  According to the report, a known female customer was seen taking the contents of a 10 pack of fabric bandages valued at $3.39.  Staff was able to identify the subject who left prior to the officer’s arrival.  An attempt to make contact with the subject at her residence was unsuccessful, as the officer was unable to get anyone to open the door of the residence.

*3:05pm-Brownwood Police were called to the emergency room of Brownwood Regional Medical Center to assist San Saba County Sheriff’s Office with a combative MHMR patient.  According to the report, as the SSCSO officers arrived on scene, nurses from the ER stepped outside and requested help with an aggressive and disorderly male subject identified as 49-year-old Earl Schenk.  This incident also led to the arrest of Schenk for Assault on a Public Servant, Disorderly Conduct (Profane Language) and Resisting Arrest, according to jail records.

*3:23pm-Brownwood Police were called to 401 W. Commerce, Wal-Mart, regarding theft.  According to the report, asset protection advised they had witnessed three subjects conceal items and pass all points of pay, never attempting to pay for the items.   The subjects, identified as 19-year-old Christian Yesenia Guevara, 18-year-old Travonne Jackson, 17-year-old Jacob Munoz, were arrested and each charged with Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity, according to jail records.

*5:28pm-Brownwood Police met with a complainant at the Law Enforcement Center regarding an incident which occurred on July 17th.  According to the complainant, who has custody of his grandchildren, the oldest grandchild told him that his father tried to run him over with a pickup truck while he was walking with his siblings on Main Blvd.

*Early Police arrested 60-year-old Brenda Kay Holland of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma for Driving While Intoxicated 3rd or More and Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 3 less than 28 grams.

All arrestees are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
