Thursday, July 12
*8:45pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2300 block of Stephen F. Austin regarding an assault. According to the report, the victim stated he was confronted by three individuals as he was leaving the VFW. The suspect was described as an approximately 30-year-old Hispanic male, 5’11”, 285 pounds and had closely cropped hair, the report states. The victim described the assault stating that the male had shoved him against the wall, and then hit him in the face with his fist, knocking him down according to the report. The suspect and two individuals with him left the scene prior to the officer’s arrival. The victim knew one of the individuals but did not know the suspect or the other individual who was with them, the report states.
Monday, July 16
*4:44pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 500 block of W. Commerce regarding forgery/counterfeiting. According to the report, a letter, labeled from a mystery shopper program, instructing a subject to utilize a fake United States Postal Service money order was a scam. The scam is believed to be circulating in the area to have subjects cash the money order and or checks and send the unused money back to the point of origin, the report states. The letter and the money order were seized as evidence.
*8:51pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1800 block of Sam Houston Drive regarding criminal mischief. According to the report, the complainant’s pickup was damaged when an unknown person threw a rock at it.
*9:30pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 4400 block of Redbird Street regarding a domestic disturbance.
*10:01pm-Brownwood Police responded to the 200 block of E. Commerce regarding child endangerment. According to witnesses on scene, while in the drive-through lane, children began climbing out of the sunroof of the vehicle in front of them while it was stopped at the pick-up window. Witnesses provided a suspect vehicle license plate number which was registered to an individual with a local address, the report states.
Tuesday, July 17
*12:17pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 2400 block of Monterey Street regarding a hit and run accident. According to the report, while the complainant went shopping at Wal-Mart and returned home before discovering his vehicle had been struck. An investigation into the accident was started; however, at the time of the report, there were no suspects.
Wednesday, July 18
*4:20pm-Brown County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance in the Shamrock Shores area. According to the report, the victim stated that she and her boyfriend, identified as 20-year-old Preston Dilon Browne, were arguing when he threatened to hit her. When she grabbed her cell phone to call police, he took it from her and threw it to the ground breaking it, the report states. She stated that she tried to leave and the suspect blocked her physically, then grabbed her by the throat and threatened to kill her, according to the report. The victim was able to escape along with her child and ran to a neighbor’s house to call police, the report states. Browne was arrested and charged with Assault Family Violence Impede Breath, Unlawful Restraint, and Interfere with Emergency Call.
*4:44pm-Brownwood Police were called to the area of Austin Avenue and Roselawn regarding a minor motor vehicle accident. According to the report, while conducting an investigation, 19-year-old Lance Nelson walked onto the scene and attempted to fight with one of the subjects involved with the accident. Nelson had to be restrained to prevent a physical conflict, the report states. Nelson was arrested for Interference with Public Duties.
*9:19pm-Brownwood Police made a traffic stop in the 2600 block of Avenue D for an equipment violation. The driver of the vehicle, identified as 26-year-old Lashona Moreno, was arrested for an outstanding Val Verde County warrant for Criminal Negligent Homicide and for Driving While License Invalid with No Insurance.
*Brownwood Police arrested 43-year-old John Coley Lane for Driving While Intoxicated 3rd or More.
*Brownwood Police arrested 52-year-old Mellissa Scaff Sawyer for Driving While Intoxicated
Thursday, July 19
*12:16am-Brownwood Police were called to the 1600 block of Durham Avenue regarding a stolen firearm. According to the report, the complainant reported that several subjects had been invited over by his son while he was at work and that a revolver was now missing from his gun cabinet. The potential suspect information was obtained and investigation was begun.
*Early Police arrested 37-year-old Dan Adam Goras for Theft Less than $50.
All arrestees are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
