Monday, July 16

*11:00am-Brown County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle displaying two different registrations, according to reports.  While making the stop, it was discovered that the driver, identified as Christopher McCabe, gave the deputy false information the report states.  After the subject gave his brother’s identifying information to the deputy, he asked McCabe for consent to search the vehicle, which was denied, the report states.  The K-9 unit was then called, and during the search, a bottle of Hydrocodone weighing 75.5 grams and containing 177 pills was discovered, the report states.  McCabe was also found to be in possession of fraudulent checks and several fraudulent identifiers, according to the report.  McCabe was arrested and charged with Fraudulent Use or of Possession of Identifying Information Greater than 50 Less than 200, Felony 1; Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 3 Greater than 28 grams Less than 200 grams/Felony 3; and Failure to Identify.

*12:27pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 600 block of 4th Street regarding a found bicycle.

*4:55pm-Brownwood Police responded to the 900 block of Trigg Street regarding an aggravated assault.  According to the report, the victim named a known suspect.

*5:11pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1200 block of Austin Avenue regarding a hit and run motor vehicle accident.  According to the report, the complainant stated that the back left quarter panel on his pickup was damaged.  The estimated cost to repair the damage to the vehicle was $300, the report states.

*5:48pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1100 block of 9th Street regarding the burglary of a building.

*9:31pm-Brownwood Police received a report via telephone of theft of money at a residence on 4th Street.  The complainant advised that they are homebound and that her personal assistant had possibly stolen money from her.  An investigation is ongoing, the report states.

Tuesday, July 17

*9:31am-Brown County Sheriff’s Office was informed that a wanted subject, identified as 33-year-old Monica Theodora Castaneda, was at the Family Dollar Store, and officers were able to locate her while she was in her vehicle outside of the business, reports state.   Castaneda was arrest on two outstanding warrants, and after gaining consent to search Castaneda’s purse, the officer found 4 hydrocodone pills which were not in a container along with a small glass pipe with residue that field tested positive for methamphetamine, according to the report.  Castaneda was charged additionally with Failure to Identify Fugitive, Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 3 less than 28 grams and Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 less than 1 gram.  Both charges were enhanced due to the arrest proximity to HPU, a drug free zone.

*10:32am-Brownwood Police and Brown County Sheriff’s Office were called to the 500 block of 7th to assist Brown County Adult Probation Department with a probation search at a south Brownwood residence.  According to the report, officers received consent to search the residence for narcotics which resulted in a small quantity of controlled substance being found in the residence.  One subject was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled in a Drug Free Zone.  The investigation surrounding this incident is continuing and more arrests are anticipated at its conclusion.

*10:34am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 500 block of W. Commerce Street regarding forgery.  According to the report, a female had attempted to pass a forged check and left the scene after she was advised that police were being called.

*11:25am-Brownwood Police were called by an employee of the University of Phoenix to make a welfare check on a subject at a residence in the 400 block of W. Lee.  According to the report, a faculty member had received a homicidal comment through email from a subject living at the address, according to police reports.  When officers arrived, the female subject, identified as 39-year-old Shelly Rene Demyan admitted that she had been using methamphetamine, reports state.  Demyan provided a small plastic baggie which tested positive for methamphetamine as well as a used syringe and a cotton swab, according to reports.  Demyan was subsequently arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Grade 1 Less than 1 gram in a Drug Free Zone.

*12:59pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1400 block of Austin Avenue, Brookshire’s regarding theft.

*2:35pm-Brownwood Police met with a complainant at the Brownwood Police Department regarding identity theft.  According to the report, the complainant stated that on July 10th, she was advised by the Brownwood Housing Authority that someone had been reporting income under her social security number in California.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 18-year-old Juan Castaneda for Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 less than 1 gram in a Drug Free Zone.

All arrestees are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
