LECSmBrownwood Police confiscated 40 marijuana plants after a tip led them to a residence on Avenue I where a man was growing the plants in plain sight, according to Assistant Chief of Police James Fuller.

A Brownwood Police officer followed up on a tip Saturday, July 7th which was reported by a caller who saw the plants as they walked past the residence.  The caller reported seeing what looked like marijuana and an officer was sent to investigate.

According to Fuller, the officer walked down the alleyway and was able to see into the residence’s unfenced backyard.  Growing in two white buckets were 40 marijuana plants which were varying in sizes, up to approximately 1 foot in height, according to Fuller.  All 40 of the plants were seized and taken to Brownwood Police Department and secured as evidence.

According to Fuller, the case is still under investigation and no arrests have been made as of Monday morning.

Friday, July 13

*4:44am-Brownwood Police made a traffic stop in the area of 4th Street and Fisk due to the vehicle having no tail lights.  During the stop, the driver, identified as 30-year-old Tiffany Riggleman, was found to be intoxicated and was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, the report states.  Riggleman received an additional charge of Tampering with Evidence after she attempted to flush drug paraphernalia down a jail toilet, according to the report.

*8:16am-Brownwood Police made a traffic stop in the 400 block of Lakeway Drive.  According to the report, the driver, identified as 28-year-old Michael Zarate, was arrested for Driving While License Invalid with Previous Conviction.

*8:30am-Brownwood Police were called to the 3600 block of 2nd Street regarding a mailbox that had been destroyed.  No arrests were made at the time of the report.

*9:31am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1300 block of Center Avenue regarding the burglary of a habitation.  According to the report, the complainant awoke to find her kitchen window open and it appeared that someone may have entered the residence.  Burglary of a habitation was investigated; however no arrest was made or suspects identified at the time of the report.

*11:10am-Brownwood Police were called to the 300 block of Bluffview regarding a case of assault family violence.

*2:37pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 3600 block of US Hwy 377S regarding theft.  According to the report, the complainant stated that an employee had stolen $418 in cash.  A possible suspect was identified; however no arrests were made at the time, according to the officer’s report.

*3:15pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to 401 W. Commerce, Wal-Mart, regarding theft.  According to the report, two females allegedly attempted to steal items of clothing from the store.  A juvenile, as well as a 20-year-old were issued citations for the theft and released from the scene.

*3:26pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 300 block of Bluffview regarding the burglary of a habitation.

*3:36pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1300 block of 13th Street regarding theft.  According to the report, the complainant stated that her daughter had taken several items that did not belong to her and was not willing to return them.

*7:15pm-Brownwood Police responded to the 1700 block of Avenue C regarding the burglary of a habitation.  According to the report, the complainant stated that sometime in the past two weeks, an unknown person broke into her sister’s residence through a bathroom window.

*8:16pm-Brownwood Police were called to 401 W. Commerce regarding theft.  According to the report, two suspects identified as 19-year-old Anthony Hernandez and 20-year-old Erica Hernandez were arrested for Class B Theft.  Investigation determined the value of the stolen items to be approximately $70.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence regarding a burglary.  According to the report, the complainant stated that she left her residence around 6:15pm on this date to visit a friend and while she was gone, her mother-in-law asked to borrow some money.  The complainant agreed and told her where she could find the money; however when her mother-in-law arrived at the residence, the money was missing.  A suspect has been named; however no arrest had been made at the time of the report.

Saturday, July 14

*1:13am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1500 block of Magnolia regarding theft.  According to the report, no arrest has been made but a suspect has been named.

*3:00am-Brownwood Police were called to the 3400 US Hwy 377S, Allsups, regarding suspicious circumstances.  According to the report, a male subject, identified as 40-year-old Raul Hector Sanchez, Jr., was inside the business and appeared to be intoxicated.  The clerk also reported he observed Sanchez hit a pole near the entrance of the store as he parked his vehicle, the report states.   Sanchez was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated 3rd or more.

*5:10am-A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a residence regarding an unwanted and intoxicated female.  According to the report, a female identified as Tabatha Carrier was sitting outside the residence on a planter and would not leave the property, Sheriff’s reports state.  The complainant stated that Carrier had been at a party he was hosting and was being extremely loud and refused to leave after the party was over, the report states.  He stated that he invited her to come inside and sleep off her intoxication, but she refused.  The complainant stated that Carrier asked to borrow his phone to call for a ride home and then called 9-1-1 and ran from the house, the deputy reported.  The complainant then called BCSO to come out and remove Carrier from the property, the report states.  Carrier was arrested for Public Intoxication.

*1:24pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2400 block of Durham Avenue regarding credit card abuse.  According to the report, the complainant advised that $63 had been taken from her through a transaction at an ATM machine without her permission and knowledge.  A possible suspect was determined; however no arrest was made at the time of the report.

*2:04pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1600 block of W. Main Street regarding a Domestic Disturbance.  According to the report, dispatch advised officers en route that the male involved in the disturbance left the scene.  After speaking with the parties involved, it was determined that an argument had occurred between the juveniles and allegedly the male had been struck by his girlfriend’s sister and left to walk home after being hit, according to the report.  No criminal charges were filed.

*2:56pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 2800 block of Southside Drive, Food Plaza, regarding an assault.  According to the report, the complainant stated that his wife hit him in the face with her palm during an argument.

*3:41pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1300 block of 4th Street regarding the burglary of a habitation.  According to the report, the complainant stated that someone entered her residence while she was asleep early Friday morning, July 13th, and stole money from her purse.

*3:57pm-Brownwood Police met with a complainant regarding a hit and run.  According to the report the complainant stated that someone had struck her vehicle at an unknown location and then fled.

*6:32pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 3600 block of Austin Avenue regarding found property.  According to the report, the complainant stated that a white 1990s model pickup truck had a blue car seat fall out of the bed while traveling northbound on Austin Avenue.   The seat was placed into the BPD impound for safekeeping until it can be properly claimed.

*7:27pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1600 block of 6th Street regarding criminal mischief.  According to the report, the complainant stated that unknown subjects scratched her vehicle.  No arrests were made at the time of the report.

*7:57pm-Brownwood Police responded to 401 W. Commerce, regarding theft.  According to the report, asset protection had a male subject detained.  He was issued a citation for Theft Greater than $50.

*9:59pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1800 block of Durham Avenue regarding the theft of a bicycle.

*10:34pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 2400 block of Elizabeth Drive regarding the violation of a protective order.  The investigation led to the arrest of 49-year-old Donald Pressley, Jr. for the offense of Violation of a Protective Order.

*11:30pm-Brownwood Police made a pedestrian stop in the 700 block of CC Woodson Road due to the male subject walking in the middle of the roadway, yelling loudly and waving his arms in the air.  According to the report, the officer watched the subject, identified as 37-year-old Mark Andrew Garcia, as he stepped off the roadway, onto the grassy area behind Tractor Supply and then back into the roadway.  Garcia appeared extremely unsteady in his balance as he walked and almost fell as he stepped off of the curb, the report states.  Garcia was arrested for Public Intoxication.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of civil matter that turned into an assault.  According to the report, the 53-year-old complainant was speaking to the suspect about some work that the suspect had done for the victim.  The victim told the man that he wasn’t satisfied with the job he had done at his residence, which angered the suspect, the report states.  The suspect then took a rake out of the bed of his truck and swung it at the complainant, striking his arm, causing him injury, according to the deputy’s report.  Criminal charges are being pursued, the report states.

*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 32-year-old Ruben Salazar, Jr. for Violation of a Protective Order.

*Early Police arrested 23-year-old Scott Lewis Stuart for Driving While License Invalid.

Sunday, July 15

*1:30am-Brownwood Police responded to the 1700 block of Magnolia regarding an assault.  43-year-old Robert Rodriguez, Jr. was arrested for Assault Causes Bodily Injury Family Violence.

*11:42am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to Davis Lane regarding the burglary of a habitation.  According to the complainant, an unknown male entered his apartment and stole his GPS.  No arrests were made at this time.

*1:37pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 2000 block of Slayden Street regarding theft of a cell phone.  According to the report, the phone was stolen from her mother’s residence sometime last week.

*1:45pm-A Brownwood Police officer, while working security at the Brownwood Coliseum, observed two juvenile males smoking tobacco.  The juveniles were identified and issued citations, then released to an adult.  The tobacco was seized and released.

*3:34pm-A Brownwood Police officer was patrolling in the back parking lot of Coggin Elementary, in the 1000 block of Avenue B, where he noticed three window panes had been broken.  According to the report, the officer located a big rock with a lot of glass next to it, underneath the damaged windows.    Further investigation led officers into the building through unsecure windows.  A report was made of the burglary and is pending a list of stolen items.

*4:05pm-Brownwood Police were called to 401 W. Commerce, Wal-Mart, regarding theft.  According to the report, two men were observed stealing a pair of shoes.  Both men were issued citations for Class C Theft and released from the scene.

*7:06pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1000 block of Lackey regarding criminal mischief.  According to the report, the complainant stated that an unknown suspect shot the rear window out of a pickup parked outside her residence shattering the glass.

*8:55pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 3300 block of 1st Street regarding a citizens’ dispute.  According to the report, two relatives at an MHMR group home had been fighting.  19-year-old Donald Eddington was arrested for Assault with Injury Family Violence.

*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 41-year-old Elizabeth Patlan for Possession of Marijuana less than 2 ounces.

All arrestees are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
