Thursday, July 10

*4:23 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was called to the EZ Mart convenience store on Hwy 279 regarding theft.  According to the report, there were no weapons used and the suspects made no threats.  Two suspects have been identified, according to the report.

Friday, July 11

*8:49 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the Brownwood Regional Medical Center emergency room regarding an assault.  According to the report, the victim stated that she had been assaulted, threatened and that her vehicle had been vandalized.   Information was forwarded to the criminal investigation division for further investigation, the report states.  More information came forward in this case which resulted in the arrest on Monday, July 14th of 45-year-old Weldon Willett of Brownwood on charges of stalking.

Sunday, July 13

*7:13 PM – Brownwood Police were called to a Brownwood residence regarding a runaway juvenile.  According to the report, the juvenile was located and a report of abuse was filed.  Child Protective Services was contacted, the report states.

Monday, July 14

*Early Police Department responded to a disturbance in the 200 block of Hillcrest Drive on Monday night which resulted in the arrest of an Early man on assault charges according to EPD reports.

According to Early Chief of Police David Mercer, at approximately 11:30 p.m. officers responded to the disturbance and found a 49-year-old disable female who had been assaulted.  The victim stated that Otis Strasser, an ex-boyfriend, had forced his way into the residence and assaulted her with a board, striking her in the head, face and arms, Mercer stated.

The victim stated that she attempted to call 911 for help; however, Strasser took her phone and broke it, reported Mercer.  The victim was eventually able to get to an old phone and call 911, the report states.

Strasser, 57 of Early, fled the scene but was later located by Brownwood Police officers in the 400 block of West Commerce where he was detained and then arrested for Injury to a disable individual and interference with emergency phone call.

*3:56 AM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to a Brownwood residence regarding a possible sexual assault which had occurred at a different location.

*4:22 AM – Brownwood Police were called to a Brownwood residence regarding a domestic disturbance.  According to the report, the complainant stated that her boyfriend had assaulted her.  Brownwood Police reports indicate a report regarding assault with injury family violence involving strangulation was filed with a notation of the abuse being continuous with two or more incidents within the past 12 months.

*11:33 AM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1700 block of 13th Street regarding debit card theft.  According to the report, the complainant stated that unauthorized transactions had been made on her bank debit card.  A possible suspect was named, the report states.

*11:44 AM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy made a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding on Garmon Drive in Early.  According to the report, during a consent search of the vehicle, the deputy located a gold bag containing used marijuana pipes and a marijuana grinder containing approximately 0.6 grams of marijuana. The driver, identified as 27-year-old Jodi Rae Adams of Lockhart, was arrested for possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces.

*2:30 PM – Brownwood Police were called to Wal-Mart regarding theft.  According to the report, an asset protection employee observed 62-year-old Jane Norma Souza of Coleman push her shopping basket to the checkout line, pay for items in the top of her basket without telling the cashier that there were two 12-packs of sodas on the bottom rack of the buggy.  Sousa then proceeded to the house wares department and loaded a vacuum cleaner onto her basket, on top of the bagged merchandise and then pushed the basket back to the front of the store where she then exited, the report states.  Sousa was contacted by the employee, and then arrested by Brownwood Police charged with theft greater than $50 less than $500, according to the report.

*8:54 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a location on County Road 156 regarding the burglary of a building.  According to the report, the complainant advised that after two people he had working at his residence left, he noticed that he was missing a 250 foot roll of 14 gauge 8 strand copper wire and a Hitachi jigsaw from his workshop, where the two had been working.  No arrests had been made at the time of the report.

*9:51 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy made a traffic stop on a vehicle for an expired registration in the area of US Hwy 377 and County Road 325 in Blanket.  According to the report, as the deputy was making contact, advising the driver of the reason for the stop, he noticed a glass pipe in plain sight near the stick shift.  The driver, identified as 29-year-old Travis Sloan Shaw, stated that he didn’t know the pipe was in the vehicle, the report states.  The passenger, identified as 44-year-old Barry Christopher Money of Brownwood, was asked about the pipe and in a nervous tone stated that this was not a pipe, but rather an oil burner and then became agitated stating that he was not doing anything wrong, according to the deputy’s account.  The deputy then asked to see the pipe again and Money refused, stating loudly that the pipe was not drug paraphernalia, the report states.  Dispatch notified the deputy that either Money or Shaw was wanted.  Department of Public Safety Trooper Sams arrived to assist while the deputy was placing Money in handcuffs and when approaching the car, noticed that the pipe was now in the passenger floorboard, the report states.  Trooper Sams pointed out that the pipe had a crystalline substance and after a probable cause search, the substance in the pipe field tested positive for methamphetamine, according to the report.  A small baggie containing methamphetamine was located in a cup holder in the center console within reach of both Money and Shaw, according to the report.  A box containing burnt K2 residue and a used syringe was found between the driver’s seat and the console, the report states.  The search also located a portion of a burnt K2 cigarette and an empty bag of methamphetamine, and a large amount of crushed methamphetamine was located at the bottom of the console, indicating that someone had made an attempt to empty the bag to hide it, the report states.  Neither Money nor Shaw admitted to having knowledge or ownership of the methamphetamine; however Money did admit to buying K2 earlier that evening and advised that he and Shaw were planning on smoking it in Brownwood.  Money and Shaw were both arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 equal or greater than 1 gram less than 4 grams, possession of a controlled substance penalty group 2-A equal or less than 2 ounces and tamper/fabricate physical evidence.  Money was additionally arrested on seven active warrants related to failure to maintain financial responsibility, violate promise to appear, and contempt of court.

*The Brownwood City Marshal arrested 26-year-old Jamie Lynn Crump of Brownwood on a warrant related to driving while license invalid.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 25-year-old Ronnie Pena of Brownwood on a warrant related to failure to maintain financial responsibility.

Tuesday, July 15

*1:56 AM – Brownwood Police arrested 31-year-old Edward Salazar in the area of 11th Street and Brady Avenue.  According to the report, Salazar was charged with possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 less than 1 gram in a drug free zone.
