Law enforcement arrests and reports released July 13, 2012.
Tuesday, July 10
*6:13pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2500 block of 1st Street regarding theft of prescription medication. According to the report, an investigation was started and a suspect named; however the next day when officers spoke with the complainant at her residence, she stated that criminal prosecution was no longer desired.
Wednesday, July 11
*2:06pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 2800 block of Southside Drive regarding the theft of a bicycle overnight from the area in front of the complainant’s apartment.
*3:49pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1900 block of Vincent Street regarding suspicious circumstances. According to the report, the complainant stated that he arrived home to find a cigarette package in his mailbox. He picked it up to throw it away; however after he felt and heard something rattling inside, it was opened and pills were discovered inside which are believed to be Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone. Although no suspects were known at the time of the report, the pills were tagged as evidence and secured at the Brownwood Police Department.
Thursday, July 12
*8:35am-Brownwood Police were called to the 1300 block of Brady Avenue regarding theft of medication. According to the report, the complainant stated that she had been at a party sometime after midnight and had taken her black bag containing prescription medication to the party and when she woke up this date, some of her prescriptions were missing.
*11:48am-Brownwood Police met with a complainant at the Law Enforcement Center regarding theft. According to the report, approximately $2324.00 was stolen and a suspect has been identified.
*3:50pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1700 block of Avenue E regarding a burglary. According to the report, several antique stained glass windows, a 36-inch stained glass door with double skeleton key locks, a wooden display case, and a trampoline were stolen. Suspects were identified but no arrest was made at the time of the report.
*6:15pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to a residence on 1st Street regarding a runaway juvenile. According to the report, the juvenile was located and returned to the residence.
*6:37pm- Brownwood Police were called to the 4300 block of Brookdale regarding an assault. According to the report after the couple had been in a verbal argument, the complainant stated that her boyfriend assaulted her. The complainant did not wish to pursue charges the report states.
*7:00pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1500 block of Terrace Drive regarding disorderly conduct. According to the report, this was the second call to this address, and the officer met with the complainant and several of his friends. The group stated that two additional people had walked by the group and threatened them; however, after speaking with the suspect and his witness, the officer believed only verbal arguing had occurred, the report states.
*7:44pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 300 block of Bluffview Drive regarding possible child abuse. According to the report, several children stated that a male suspect had pulled their shorts down at the swimming pool of the apartment complex. After speaking with witnesses, it was determined that no groping or sexual contact occurred. The suspect denied having pulled anyone’s shorts down but did state that he did not know any of the children personally and that he was intoxicated at the pool, the report states. The officer referred the case to the Brownwood Municipal Court for the complainant to sign a complaint against the suspect for Assault/Offensive Touch.
*Bangs Police responded to a domestic disturbance. According to Chief Troy Gruesendorf, the residents delayed answering the door and an officer had to make entry into the home. During the call, consent was given to search the home and an open purse revealed some drugs and drug paraphernalia, Gruesendorf stated. A female involved in the incident, 47-year-old Samantha Marie Hellinger of Bangs was charged with Possession of a Dangerous Drug, reported Gruesendorf.
Friday, July 13
*A Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy was stopped at a traffic light at Coggin Avenue and Third Street early Friday morning when an approaching vehicle from across the intersection slowly veered toward his patrol vehicle, missing the patrol unit by just inches, according to the deputy’s report. Because of the near accident, the deputy followed the vehicle and observed a traffic violation and initiated a stop. The driver, identified as Cody Vuittonet, stated that he had bad vision and was “going to let them” drive; however when told there was no one else in his vehicle, he seemed surprised, according to the deputy. Vuittonet was found to be highly intoxicated and arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, reports state.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 38-year-old Taunya Gruben of Dayton, Texas for Possession of Marijuana Less than 2 ounces and Tampering with Evidence, according to reports. 32-year-old Harley E. Gruben was also arrested for Possession of Marijuana Less than 2 ounces and Unlawful Carrying Weapon.
All arrestees are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
