Brownwood Police were dispatched around 5:50pm Wednesday to 401 W. Commerce, Wal-Mart, regarding theft. According to the report, two males were being detained after they had allegedly attempted to leave the store without paying for merchandise totaling $101.76.
The males were identified as 17-year-old Christopher Riley of Brownwood and 19-year-old Chance Keytan Clark of Cisco and were arrested, charged with misdemeanor theft $50-$500, according to jail records. Although this charge was a misdemeanor, Riley was additionally charged with retaliation (a 3rd degree felony) after he told one officer, “I’m going to shoot you someday,” as the officer was obtaining information from store employees, the police report states. Riley was released Thursday on $12,000 bond.

*11:39am-A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy, while investigating a location in Zephyr, observed a vacant property with weeds and grasses that are at least six feet tall and posing a fire danger, attracting rodents, snakes and other disease carrying pests, reports state. A letter has been sent to the property owner regarding the public nuisance the property’s condition poses.

*10:33pm-Brownwood Police received a report of possible indecency with a child. According to the report, the anonymous caller contacted police about an incident (involving a child) he felt needed to be reported.
*7:30pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1800 block of 8th Street regarding theft. According to the report, the complainant stated that an unknown person had stolen the trailer hitch off his pickup while it was in the Wal-Mart parking lot.
Saturday, July 7
*5:47pm-Brown County Sheriff’s office was dispatched to the report of missing livestock. According to the report, the complainant stated that when he had arrived home after being out of town for several days, he found two doe kids missing from his property. The complainant advised the deputy that goats such as these are selling for $2000-$5000 each. Although no suspects are known at this time, the theft has been reported to the Texas Cattle Raisers who will help the complainant watch for the animals at any sale barns, the report states.

*8:05am-Brownwood Police were called to the 800 block of Hendricks Street regarding the theft of a bicycle during the overnight hours.
*1:30pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1400 block of Waco Street regarding a domestic disturbance possibly involving Assault Family Violence.
*Brownwood Police arrested 30-year-old Billy Ray Cooper for Driving While License Invalid Surcharge Due.
Wednesday, July 11
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 18-year-old Manuel Edward Mantos for Driving While License Invalid.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Investigators arrested 17-year-old Chason Franklin for Interfering with Public Duties and Resisting Arrest. BCSO Investigator Carlisle Gover stated that officers were trying to search a car, when Franklin came up and would not leave. Officers told him to “start walking” and he refused, officials state. Gover said Franklin was tense and acted anxious causing officers to be unable to perform their duties and finish the work they had started. Franklin was arrested on the above charges and taken to the Brown County Jail.
Thursday, July 12
*2:51am-A Brownwood Police officer conducted a traffic stop in the 500 block of Austin Avenue. During the stop, he discovered the driver, identified as 32-year-old Juan Buitron, was intoxicated, according to the report. Buitron failed several sobriety tests and was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated 1st Offense, the report states.
*5:13am-Brownwood Police were called to the 2200 block of Coggin Avenue regarding a traffic hazard. According to the report, a hydraulic floor jack was in the roadway. The jack was checked and not found to be listed as stolen and was taken to the Brownwood Police Department bike impound for safe keeping until it can be properly claimed.
All arrestees are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
