Wednesday, July 6
*4:32 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy met with a complainant at a property in Blanket, Texas regarding theft. According to the homeowner, a known suspect allegedly stole some jewelry from the house, which was being vacated.
Friday, July 8
*6:33 AM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy along with a BSCO sergeant were dispatched to Carrie Lane regarding criminal mischief. According to the report, the victim estimated $100 in damages was done to his property. There was also damage to another victim’s property, which was estimated at $2900, the report states. An investigation is ongoing, according to law enforcement.
*8:39 AM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to a business in the 2800 block of US Hwy 377 regarding theft. According to the report, an employee reported that two known subjects were observed shoplifting several items from the store on July 2nd. The incident was documented.
*2:04 PM – Brownwood Police were called to a business in the 1400 block of Austin Avenue regarding theft. According to the report, a male subject had stolen a charger for an electronic device.*10:16 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1900 block of Avenue B regarding a civil matter. According to the report, information was received that the occupant of the residence set his own property on fire in the backyard and walked to the store to buy more alcohol. Officers located the resident, 67-year-old Jessie Deleon Basquez of Brownwood, in the 1900 block of Brady Avenue where he was arrested or public intoxication.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a missing Brangus bull from a property on County Road 132. According to the report, the complainant stated that the bull had gone missing sometime 3 to 5 weeks prior to his report.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 41-year-old Sergio Efrain Castillo of Brownwood on a warrant related to motion to adjudicate/duty on striking fixture/highway landscape.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 40-year-old Fernando Aguirre Narvaez of Brownwood for burglary of a habitation, possession of a controlled substance penalty group 3 less than 28 grams and on warrants related to surety withdrawals for failure to appear/aggravated assault with deadly weapon and failure to appear/possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 less than 1 gram. Narvaez was being held in the Brown County Jail in lieu of bonds totaling $114,000 as of Monday morning.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 33-year-old Grant Lee Norris of Brandon, Mississippi on warrants related to failure to appear tamper with physical evidence and theft.
*Ellis County Sheriff’s Office arrested 37-year-old John Michael Stephens on a warrant related to failure to appear.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 41-year-old Charlotte Ann Story of Bangs on a surety withdrawal related to forgery of a financial instrument elderly.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 27-year-old Malcolm Jamal Walls of Jackson, Mississippi on warrants related to failure to appear/two counts of burglary of a habitation and failure to appear/possession of marijuana. Walls was being held in the Brown County Jail in lieu of $180,000 bonds as of Monday morning.
Saturday, July 9
*8:12 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 2800 block of Avenue C regarding criminal mischief. According to the report, the front fender of the complainant’s vehicle was damaged.
*8:49 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a domestic disturbance on Wallace Trail near Early, TX. According to the report, the deputy arrived to another location where the victim ran to avoid further violence from happening. He interviewed the victim who requested medical attention and a witness.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 27-year-old Joe Waylan Bush of Brownwood for possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 less than 1 gram.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 44-year-old Rojelio Martinez, Jr. of Early for aggravated assault date/family/house member with weapon, aggravated assault family/house member impede breath/circulation, interfere with emergency request for assistance. Martinez was being held in the Brown County Jail in lieu of bonds totaling $78,000 as of Monday morning.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 25-year-old Danielle Michelle Wells of Brownwood on a warrant related to possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 less than 1 gram/motion to adjudicate.
Sunday, July 10
*1:02 AM – Brownwood Police were called to the 300 block of Market Place Blvd. regarding a disturbance. According to the report, this call led to the arrest of 47-year-old James L. Brice of Brownwood for assault family violence causing bodily injury.
*11:58 AM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy made a traffic stop on a vehicle occupied by a male and two females. One of the females was identified as 27-year-old Mallorie Brook Pope Basio of Brownwood. A BCSO investigator arrived to assist in the stop and during a consent search located a methamphetamine pipe in Basio’s purse, according to the report. Basio was arrested for possession controlled substance penalty group 1 less than a gram in a drug free zone.
*1:52 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1000 block of W. Commerce regarding theft. According to the report, the complainant stated that someone stole some of her personal belongings while she was at a north Brownwood business.
*5:43 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 2000 block of 10th Street regarding theft of property. According to the report, a license plate was stolen from a trailer.
*7:22 PM – Brownwood Police initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of E. Baker and Carnegie Street. According to the report, the driver of the vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit ensued by vehicle and on foot. The suspect was not able to be located and the incident was documented.
*Brownwood Police arrested 59-year-old Lex Truitt Barrow of Brownwood on a warrant related to theft of property equal or greater than $20 less than $500 by check.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 30-year-old Matthew Steven McMillan of Coleman on a warrant related to motion to revoke/driving while intoxicated 2nd.
Monday, July 11
*2:00 AM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy made a traffic stop in front of the Bangs High School campus, on North 3rd Street in Bangs, which resulted in the two occupants of the vehicle being arrested on drug charges. The driver was identified as 19-year-old Robert Richardson of Bangs. The passenger was identified as 58-year-old Burlin Doyle Smith, Jr. of Brownwood. According to the report, the deputy could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle as he spoke Burlin and Smith. During the stop, Smith was found to have a pocket knife and a marijuana pipe in his pocket, and a probable cause search of the vehicle was performed, the report states. A Fruit Loops cereal box was found in the location of the spare tire, which contained 80 small baggies of marijuana weighing 5.26 ounces, 147.3 grams with packaging, according to the report. Richardson stated that the marijuana belonged to both he and Smith; however, Smith chose not to answer any questions at the time of the arrest, the deputy reported. There was also $2267 located in Richardson’s front pocket, the report states. Both Smith and Richardson stated they had smoked marijuana earlier in the day, according to the report. Both were arrested and each were charged with possession of marijuana less than 5 pounds in a drug free zone.
