Sunday, June 26

*11:54pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 2800 block of Southside Drive regarding fraud.  A complainant stated that his wife had responded to a Craig’s List ad and sent $200 to Sprint PCS 2nd Chance Restoration to have the outstanding balance on their Sprint account cleared.  When they called Sprint the next day, she was informed that this ad was a scam.  An investigation is pending.

Wednesday, June 29

*9:12am-Brownwood Police were called to the 2400 block of Songbird Circle regarding theft.  The complainant stated that someone had stolen a coin purse containing about $20 in cash.   Possible suspect information was obtained.

*10:27am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to 1 Center Avenue, to a bank parking lot, regarding a hit and run accident.  The reporting party, an employee of the Caring Family Network, stated that a company vehicle had been struck over the weekend, sometime between June 17th and June 20th.  The suspect vehicle left without leaving any information.

*12:57pm-Brownwood Police responded to the 300 block of East Commerce where a store employee reported that a male stole two red folding lawn chairs from in front of the business and then walked off toward a local hotel across the street.  An investigation led to the suspect being issued a citation for theft less than $50.  The property was recovered and returned to the store.

*1:33pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1200 block of Austin Avenue to a local convenience store.  A male subject was issued a criminal trespass warning for the location after he agreed to pay for the cigarettes he had attempted to steal, according to the report.

*3:03pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 500 block of W. Commerce regarding found property.  An employee reported a bicycle that had been abandoned in a vacant lot behind the business.  The bicycle was taken to Brownwood Police Department (BPD) impound where it was secured until the owner could properly identify it.

*4:53pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 300 block of Bluffview Drive regarding criminal mischief.  A complainant stated that her car had been keyed by a known suspect.

Thursday, June 30

*5:07pm-A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a residence on County Road 160 regarding a stolen vehicle.  The complainant stated that he left the vehicle at the front gate at 7am when he went to work and when he returned, it was missing.  The complainant stated that the vehicle was left unlocked with the keys in it.  No suspect information was available at the time of the report.   The truck was described as being a red Chevy single cab pick-up with a large dent in the side of it.  The vehicle was recorded to be stolen in the database.  The complainant wished to pursue charges if a suspect is located.

*Brownwood Police arrested 26-year-old Jamie Rae Dysert for Driving While Intoxicated with Child Under 15 years of age and Possession of Marijuana less than 2 oz.

Friday, July 1

*12:22am-Brownwood Police received a report of assault causing bodily injury from a female who claimed a male neighbor and another male threw a beer and a soda cup at her, striking her in the head.

* 6:00pm-Early Police officer Stephanie Haile stopped a vehicle after receiving a call of a reckless driver on Hwy 183 north of Early. According to Early Police Chief David Mercer, the vehicle was stopped after Officer Haile observed a defective turn signal.  Upon interviewing the driver who appeared very nervous, he surrendered a large baggie of marijuana from his pocket and several marijuana roaches from the vehicle, stated Mercer. The driver, identified as 32-year-old Joseph Waymon Phillips of Brownwood, was placed under arrest for Possession of Marijuana less than or equal to 2oz in a Drug Free Zone and taken to the Brown County Jail.

All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
