LECSmA Brownwood man was arrested Friday after he fled from police and made a false 911 call to divert officers in an attempt to escape capture, according to law enforcement officials.

A Brownwood Police narcotics officer and Brown County Sheriff’s investigator were looking for two wanted people on Friday, June 1st when they received information that they were possibly together at a residence on Gifford Street.

According to the report, around 5:00pm, Arthur Lopez was seen leaving the residence in a vehicle so the officers activated their emergency lights on the unmarked vehicle and attempted to make a stop on the vehicle.  Reports state that Lopez ignored the lights and turned onto Hall Street and eventually parked near a residence in the 1200 block of Hall Street, and then fled on foot through several yards.  According to the report, an eye witness was able to use a cell phone to video Lopez entering a residence on Hall Street.  Several officers arrived to form a perimeter around the residence, the report states.

While this was occurring, a person claiming that they were being held at gunpoint at a residence on Magnolia Street, but could not remember their address, called 911.  The dispatcher pinged the cell phone and found it to be located at the residence in the 1200 block of Hall Street, where Lopez had been seen entering, reports state.  Officers entered the residence where Lopez was found hiding in a closet, according to the report.  Lopez was arrested and charged with Evading Arrest, Evading Arrest With Vehicle, False Report to Law Enforcement Employee and for five outstanding warrants.

Thursday, May 31

*9:48pm-Brownwood Police responded to the report of an assault/family violence in the 1800 block of 8th Street.  According to the report, the suspect had fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival.  The complainant stated that the suspect appeared to be under the influence of drugs and that she believed he was using methamphetamine, the report states.  The complainant also stated that he had begun talking to himself and became violent.

Friday, June 1

*10:16am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 700 block of 3rd Street regarding a hit and run accident.  According to the report, the officer spoke with the complainant and determined that the damage did not occur the date of the report and was possibly several days old.  The complainant also made a report regarding theft in which a suspect has been identified.

*3:20pm-A Brownwood Police officer received a phone call from another officer that he had just seen a wanted subject, 33-year-old James Adam Beam, enter a residence in the 1900 block of Avenue H. According to the report, multiple officers arrived and Beam began running.  Officers gave pursuit through various yards, streets and alleyways until Beam was caught and arrested for two outstanding warrants and he was charged with evading arrest with previous conviction, the report states.

*5:21pm-Brownwood Police responded to the 2500 block of Morris Sheppard Drive regarding terroristic threat.  According to the report, the complainant stated that a male had threatened to do him bodily harm and kill him.

*9:14pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1600 block of Lane Street regarding found property.  According to the report, the complainant advised he had found a wallet behind his residence which contained social security cards, a debit card and other personal items.

*10:26pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1100 block of Tannehill regarding a disorderly subject.  According to the report, the complainant stated that her son, 20-year-old Nicholas Joe Castenada was “off of his psych medication and was tearing the house up.”  Upon arrival, officers had to restrain Castenada to keep him from injuring himself or others, the report states.  Castenada was transported to the Brownwood Regional Medical Center where he continued to be combative and assaulting officers, the report states.  Castenada was arrested for Assault on Public Servant.

*11:38am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 500 block of Edwards Street regarding the burglary of a vehicle.  According to the report, the complainant advised unknown subject(s) entered his unlocked vehicle and stole several of his personal belongings.  The case is pending further investigation.

Saturday, June 2

*8:22am-Brownwood Police met with a complainant at the Law Enforcement Center regarding a trespass warning.  According to the report, a trespass warning was issued to the complainant’s soon to be ex-husband at his place of employment, for her new residence at the complainant’s request.

*9:20am-Brownwood Police were called to the 1200 block of Coggin regarding the burglary of a coin operated machine.  According to the report, the complainant advised that an unidentified male broke into his coin operated ice and water machine, stealing the money that was located inside, on May 31st.  The case is under investigation, the report states.

*9:41am-Brownwood Police responded to the 100 block of Melwood regarding the burglary of a vehicle.  According to the report, information from the call indicated that items were taken from a vehicle and another vehicle damaged while parked outside of the location.

*3:00pm-Brownwood Police were called to Brookshire’s regarding theft.  According to the report, a male suspect, identified as 40-year-old Jose Rodriguez-Garcia, had stolen $14.97 worth of merchandise and was being held in the manager’s office.  Upon the officer speaking with Garcia, it was determined that he was intoxicated and he was a danger to himself, the report states.  Because Garcia was unable to make contact with a sober individual to take responsibility for him; he was arrested and charged with Theft less than $50 and Public Intoxication.

*7:26pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1600 block of 2nd Street regarding the burglary of a habitation.  According to the report, the complainant stated that an unknown person entered his residence and stole a laptop computer.

*7:35pm-Brownwood Police took a report of criminal mischief in the 2000 block of Slayden.  According to the report, the complainant stated a tire was slashed on his vehicle overnight.  Limited information was provided regarding a possible suspect the report states.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 48-year-old John Farron Sepulvado for Assault with Injury Family Violence.

Sunday, June 3

*1:23am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1100 block of Magnolia regarding a domestic disturbance.  According to the report, the complainant’s boyfriend, 26-year-old Lance Brantly Hines, pushed her into the stove and dispatch received a call from him that the complainant had pushed Hines into the stove as well.  The complainant showed signs of boiling water making contact with her skin due to Hines pushing her, the report states.  Hines was arrested for Assault with Injury Family Violence.

*3:29am-Brownwood Police responded the report of a one vehicle accident in the 2000 block of Parkway.  According to the report, a small passenger car had struck the curb and blown a tire.  The driver, identified as 21-year-old Patrick Gerard Boutelle, had gotten out in an attempt to change the damaged tire, the report states.  After an investigation, Boutelle was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated 2nd.

*5:14am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2800 block of Southside Drive regarding criminal mischief.  According to the report, the complainant stated that his ex-fiancé and her uncle slashed the tires on his two vehicles which were parked side by side in front of his apartment when the offense occurred.  Two suspects have been named in the case and the complainant does wish to prosecute for damages, the report states.

*8:46am-Brownwood Police were called to the 1700 block of 7th Street regarding criminal mischief.  According to the report, the complainant stated that someone damaged tires on his vehicle sometime between 10:00pm and the time of the call.

*11:47am-Brownwood Police were called to 401 W. Commerce regarding theft.  According to the report, the call led to the arrest of three people.  23-year-old Richard Torres was charged with Robbery and Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity (1st degree).  20-year-old Sonia Rios and 22-year-old Jason Rosas were each charged with Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity (3rd degree).

*12:15pm-Brownwood Police met with a complainant at the Law Enforcement Center regarding found property.  According to the report, a woman dropped off a brown wallet which she had located in the intersection of Austin and Center Avenue.  The owner of the wallet was located and returned, the report states.

*5:00pm-Brown County Sheriff’s investigators received information about drug activity at a local motel room and conducted a “knock and talk” at the room, where four people were present.  According to the report, marijuana and paraphernalia was seen in plain sight.  The occupants gave permission for the investigators to search the room where they found two hydrocodone pills, marijuana, and a marijuana pipe on the night stand and a pipe used to smoke methamphetamine in the bathroom, which showed a positive reaction for the presence of methamphetamine, reports state.  25-year-old Heather Caudill, 30-year-old Justin Davis, 21-year-old Kayla Rae Browne and a 16-year-old juvenile male admitted having smoked methamphetamine within the last 24 hours, the report states.  Caudill, Davis and Browne were arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Grade 1 less than 1 gram.  Caudill was additionally charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Grade 3 less than 28 grams, and Possession of Marijuana less than 2 oz.

*6:56pm-Brownwood Police made a traffic stop in the 2700 block of Elizabeth Drive west alley.  According to the report, investigation determined that the driver, Chad Michael Norman had a suspended license and was placed under arrest for Driving While License Invalid.

* Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 32-year-old Bobby Wayne Michalski, Jr. for Driving While Intoxicated.

* Brown County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic disturbance over prescription drugs in the Shamrock Shores area.  According to BCSO officials, Christy Marie Nelson was the suspect and had left the scene in a vehicle.  Nelson threw the medication out the window of the car as she fled; however the medication was recovered and Nelson was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Tamper Fabricate Physical Evidence, according to BCSO officials.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office made a traffic stop on a vehicle believed to have narcotics in it.  According to the report, the driver, identified as 23-year-old Joe Dale Smith did not have any narcotics in the vehicle; however he was found to have stolen checks and was charged with Fraudulent Use/Possession of Identifying Information, Forgery Checks, Driving While License Invalid with Previous Conviction, and Theft less than $50.
