Brownwood Police received a report of loud music and possible illegal dumping in the 3800 block of Crestridge around 9:09pm on Wednesday, June 22nd.  The responding officer arrived to find a large amount of motor oil had been leaked into the roadway and onto the property where the suspect, the driver of an 18-wheeler, was at his own residence changing the rig’s oil.

According to Brownwood Police officials, it is not known whether the oil got “out of hand” or was simply allowed to spill out of the vehicle and onto the driveway where it ran into the street and onto the grass of his property.  The oil was evident on the side of the house, onto the bricks and the air conditioning compressor.

Brownwood Assistant Chief of Police James Fuller stated that the incident is under investigation and charges are pending.

“Illegal dumping is a Class B Misdemeanor charge; however environmental laws could make it a felony,” stated Fuller.
