PattonStevenEarly Chief of Police David Mercer reported that they arrested a man on Saturday who was in the possession of drug and counterfeit money.   According to the report, Officer Amanda Williams received information that a subject, who had an outstanding warrant for his arrest, was located at a residence in the 100 block of Chaparral Drive in Early.

According to the report, 27-year-old Steven Mack Patton peacefully surrendered, coming out to meet the officer as she arrived at the residence.  Patton was arrested and the officer located several packages of what appeared to be illegal drugs packaged for sale lying on the floor near the door to the residence, Mercer reported.

Early Police report that once at the Brown County Jail, officers learned that Patton had swallowed some methamphetamine prior to Officer Williams making contact. Patton was transported to the Brownwood Regional Medical Center emergency room where he was examined by doctors.

Upon searching Patton’s room at the residence, officers located approximately $220 of counterfeit $20 bills, according to Mercer.

“Patton was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and numerous prescription medications, all packaged for sale,” stated Mercer. “Patton also packaged some candle wax giving the appearance of methamphetamine and admitted he was going to sell them as meth.”

Patton was charged with a total of 6 felonies for the various drugs and the counterfeit money.  As of Monday morning, Patton was being held on a total of $50,000 in bonds at the Brown County Jail.

*9:30am-A Brownwood Officer responded to the Gate 1 Motor Inn in reference to theft.  According to the report, the patio furniture in the swimming area was reported to have been stolen.  If a suspect can be identified, the business does intend to pursue charges.

Friday, June 17

*2:10pm-Brownwood Police received a report of phone harassment from the front office of an apartment complex in the 300 block of Bluffview Drive.  An investigation was initiated.

*3:18pm-Brown County Sheriff’s Office responded to Park Road 15 to a report of two telephone poles being broken and the telephone line, which was strung over the road, was pulled down.    Verizon officials said it would cost over $10,000 to fix the lines and poles and an investigation is continuing.

*5: 53am-Brownwood police were called to the corner of 12th Street and Coggin Avenue regarding found property.  An officer arrived and took possession of two bicycles, placing them into the property room at BPD.  No owners could be determined at the time of the report.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 23-year-old Christopher Bernard Williams for Possession of Marijuana less than 2oz.

Saturday, June 18

*2:02am-Brownwood Police responded to a domestic disturbance in the 1100 block of Schroeder Lane.  One of the subjects involved, identified as 26-year-old  Hurbert Sanders, III of Proctor, was found to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest due to a parole violation, the report states.  Sanders was arrested for the outstanding warrant.

*3:00am-A Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy arrested 17-year-old Dillon Reynolds of Bangs for Disorderly Conduct in the 200 block of N. West Street in Bangs.  According to the report, the deputy, while assisting a Bangs police officer in a case, observed Reynolds pull down his shorts and begin urinating.

*3:50am-Brownwood Police were called to the 200 block of Bluffview.  According to the report, the complainant stated that her daughter and some of her friends had come to her house while she was asleep and took her cell phone without her permission.

*4:05am-Brownwood Police conducted a traffic stop for speeding in the 2000 block of US Hwy 377S.  During the investigation, the driver, identified as 21-year-old Seth Kohly of Fort Hood, was found to be intoxicated while operating the vehicle, the report states.  Kohly was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.

*8:30am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1100 block of LaMonte regarding an assault that happened overnight.  According to the report, the complainant stated that her roommate assaulted her after an argument and then broke a window in the house.  The suspect was not on scene; however detailed information was provided.  Assault family violence and criminal mischief charges are pending, the report states.

*10:45am-Brownwood Police were called to a domestic disturbance in the 1500 block of Terrace Drive.

*11:35am-Brownwood Police took a complaint from the Food Plaza at 2500 Southside Drive regarding a disorderly subject.  According to the report, the male, who lives in the area, was located and issued a criminal trespass warning at the request of the store’s district manager.

*2:17pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1500 block of Avenue E in reference to an unwanted person.  According to the report, dispatch reported that a female subject was inside the residence.  A male and female were present when officers arrived and they were separated the report states.   A report of Assault with Bodily Injury Family Violence was made; however no arrests were made at the time of the report.

*8:56pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 500 block of Cordell Street regarding a suspicious vehicle.  According to the report, the driver, identified as 36-year-old Jose Felipe Aguinaga, was determined to be intoxicated.  Aguinaga was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated/Open Container.

*9:04pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2300 block of Southside Drive in reference to theft of medication.  According to the report, the complainant stated that someone had come into his apartment sometime during the day and took some of his medication.

*9:57pm-A Brownwood Police officer was patrolling in the area of the Goodwill Industries and noticed a subject rummaging through the donations which were left outside the building.  A representative from Goodwill was contacted and requested that the male remove any items he had placed in his vehicle and be issued a criminal trespass warning, the report states.

*11:09pm-Brownwood Police were called to 401 W. Commerce, Wal-Mart, regarding theft.  According to the report, the loss prevention employee had a male subject detained for attempting to walk out of the store without paying for two DVDs.  The subject was issued a citation for Theft less than $50 and released to his guardian.

*A Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper arrested James David Moffett of Ballenger for Driving While Intoxicated 3rd, Possession of Marijuana less than 2 oz and three outstanding warrants.

*A Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy arrested 24-year-old Daniel Morales for Possession of Marijuana less than 2oz.

Sunday, June 19

*12:17am-Brownwood Police received a report of an assault that had occurred against a juvenile male involving injuries to his lip.  Further investigation is pending.

*2:01am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Main Street, where according to police, a male subject had passed out in front of a business wearing only a pair of boxers.  After investigation, the male, identified as 23-year-old Jacob Paul Keith, was found to be heavily intoxicated, according to the report.  Keith was arrested for Public Intoxication.

*9:44am-Brownwood Police were called to the area of Belle Plain and Walnut in reference to a traffic hazard.  According to the report, an unoccupied pickup truck was blocking the roadway.  No contact was able to be made with the registered owner, the report states.  The vehicle was towed from the scene.

*3:53pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to a convenience store in the 500 block of W. Commerce, regarding found property.  According to the report, an employee found a jacket and a guitar case lying in the roadway behind the store.  No owner information was found and subsequently both the case and the jacket were placed into the Brownwood Police Department (BPD) property room until the owner could be located.

*10:49pm-A Brownwood Police officer was patrolling in the 500 block of Booker Street when the officer noticed the cover to an outside air conditioner unit was off and laying next to it.  The officer took a closer look and found that the copper coils had been removed.  No contact was able to be made with the property owner at the time of the report.

*A Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy arrested 32-year-old Victor Hugo Rueda, Jr. for Endangering a Child.

Monday, June 20

*12:36am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 600 block of Maple Street in reference to Disorderly Conduct.  Four individuals were determined to have been involved in an altercation; however their stories were not consistent.  A report of Assault with Injury Family Violence was made.

All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
