*1:51 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1100 block of Durham Avenue regarding a noise nuisance/harassment.
Thursday, June 16
*7:52 AM – Brownwood Police were called to the 3500 block of 4th Street regarding the theft of a motor vehicle. According to the report, the victim stated that her common law spouse had assaulted her and then stole her vehicle.
*12:00 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 2100 block of 12th Street regarding a hit and run accident.
1:36 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 2600 block of Good Shepherd Drive regarding the burglary of a vehicle. According to the report, a large sum of money was stolen from the vehicle during the burglary.
*3:32 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 100 block of Miller Drive regarding the theft of a check book, and debit card. According to the report, someone had forged the victim’s name on her checks from her account without permission. An investigation is ongoing, the report states.*5:28 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 400 block of W. Commerce Street where an incident of animal cruelty was investigated. According to the report, a female suspect had been shopping at the business and left several dogs, including puppies, locked inside a vehicle in the parking lot. The responding officer arrived to find two adult dogs that appeared to be in distress, laying on the seats, and the officer could not get their attention, the report states. Also inside the vehicle were several puppies inside a crate which were whining, the officer reported. The temperature outside the vehicle was noted to be 95-100 degrees and the windows of the vehicle were rolled up and the vehicle was not running or providing cool air for the animals. According to the report, the suspect stated that she had left the vehicle running to provide cool air for the animals; however, the officer found that the vehicle was not running, raising the temperature “well above that suited for the well-being of the dogs inside the vehicle.” The investigation is ongoing the report states.
*5:50 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 400 block of W. Commerce regarding theft. According to the report, the responding officer met with loss prevention employees of the business and the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Amber Talamantez of Brownwood. Talamantez had allegedly attempted to use a check belonging to another person at the customer service desk and when she was asked for identifying information, she stated she needed to get the ID out of her vehicle, the report states. Talamantez exited the store through the garden center past the last point of purchase and had several items (valued at $158.18) on her person that had not been paid for, the report states. She was confronted and detained by store employees. During the investigation, Talamantez was found to be in possession of a check book of the same ownership as the check she attempted to pass, along with a driver’s license for the account owner, according to police. Another BPD officer had received a call from the owner of the checking account stating that someone was using her debit card and writing checks on her account without permission and named Talamantez as a suspect, the report states. Talamantez was arrested for fraudulent use/possession of identifying information greater than 5 less than 10, forgery of a financial instrument, theft of property greater than $100 less than $750, fraudulent destroy/removal, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
*8:45 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2700 block of Avenue B regarding criminal mischief. According to the report, the victim was visibly scared and stated that she had been threatened with a knife by the suspect, identified as 23-year-old Clayton Bounds of Brownwood, when she attempted to tell him to leave the residence. Bounds was not on scene when officers arrived; however, he was located in the 2400 block of Coggin Avenue and found to be in possession of a knife matching the description in the victim’s report, according to police. Bounds was arrested, charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
*9:09 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2500 block of Durham Avenue regarding a hit and run accident. An investigation is ongoing, the report states.
*A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy received a report of theft from a property in Rising Star, Texas. According to the report, a 500-gallon fuel trailer was taken from the above listed address. The exact date and time of the theft was unknown but was most likely within the past 30 days, the complainant reported. The trailer was valued at approximately $5000, according to the report.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 37-year-old Gary Wayne Blackmon of Wickett, Texas on a warrant related to motion to revoke/possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces.
*Brownwood Police arrested 25-year-old Jordan Noel Doucette of Brownwood, Texas on Mills County warrants related to burglary of a coin operated machine and criminal mischief. Doucette was being held in the Brown County Jail in lieu of bonds totaling $16,000 as of Friday morning.
*Brownwood Police arrested 41-year-old Laurie Ann Franklin of Brownwood, Texas for a warrant.
*Early Police arrested 23-year-old Tyler Scott Harth of Brownwood for driving while intoxicated and possession of a controlled substance penalty group 2-A equal or less than 2 ounces.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 23-year-old Leila Nicole Schulze of Brownwood on a warrant related to failure to appear/possession of a controlled substance in a drug free zone. Schulze was being held in the Brown County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bond as of Friday morning.
Friday, June 17
*1:12 AM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1500 block of Terrace Drive regarding the theft of a bicycle.
*3:10 AM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1100 block of Avenue I. This call led to the issuance of a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia.
