Law enforcement reports and arrests released on Wednesday, June 1.

*4:45pm-Brown County Sheriff’s deputies took a report from an owner regarding a burglary of a habitation. According to the report, the complainant and his wife had been building a two story home at Lake Brownwood; however, ran out of funds to complete the build. They had not visited the home since February. Recently, they checked on the house and found that the house had been vandalized and broken into. Most of the windows had been broken out of the residence on both floors, the front door was damaged as well as the interior doors that had not been installed, the drywall and ceilings had holes in them, and unused roofing tiles were broken inside the residence the report states.
Tuesday, May 31
*7:25-Brownwood Police responded to a hit and run in the 300 block of E. Depot. According to the report, the driver claimed that he had been struck from behind by a vehicle that left the scene. After the impact, the complainant’s vehicle went off of the roadway and struck a utility pole the report states. There was very little suspect information provided. An investigation is ongoing.
*10:42am-A complainant called Brownwood Police Department regarding fraudulent use of a credit card in April 2011. According to the report, the offense occurred in the 500 block of 8th Street in Brownwood. A suspect is known and an investigation was started into the incident.
*11:25am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to Riverside Drive, the AT&T Retail Store regarding a hit and run. According to police, the complainant/victim and a witness observed the incident and a possible suspect was determined; however, the suspect could not be reached at the time of the report.
*12:49pm-Brownwood Police arrested the driver of a vehicle after a traffic stop in the 200 block of W. Austin. The driver, 63-year-old Dwayne Lewis Elms, was arrested for Driving While License Invalid and Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility.
*2:23pm-Brownwood Police responded to a burglary in the 1500 block of Davis Lane. The resident had been away for a few days and returned to find some things out of place and items missing. There is limited suspect information and the investigation is ongoing the report states.
*2:48pm-A Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy received a report of animal cruelty that occurred on CR 265. The owner of a pit bull reported that he noticed what appeared to be a puncture wound on his dog’s right hip area and thought he had injured himself. Because it was a holiday weekend, he could not take the dog to the vet at the time. On Tuesday, the owner was preparing to take the animal to the vet and noticed a lump approximately 4 inches from the wound and asked the vet to look into what it was. Dr. Speck of the Brown County Vet Clinic removed a small, pea sized, black projectile from the hip area. According to the report, the owner believed that the projectile was possibly shot from a sling shot since the owner did not hear a shot from a gun.
*6:07pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 4300 block of Fairway Drive regarding an incident of fraud. According to the report, the complainant told the responding officer that a male subject representing himself to be with Publisher’s Clearing House had called and told her she had won but needed to pay $850.00 in taxes.
*7:45pm-A Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a report of animal cruelty in Bangs, Texas. The complainant stated that six horses and one goat have been without food for approximately two weeks. The deputy noted that the animals were on a property which had little grasses, was covered with debris and that he was concerned with the condition of several of the horses. The owner of the horses reported having a round bale of hay each week and that he is in the process of moving the horses to a pasture nearer to his home where the grasses are better the report states. The deputy advised him to notify BCSO before the horses are moved and to provide the location where the animals will be kept. The owner was also advised of the consequences if he tried to hide the animals’ whereabouts, the report states.
*9:10pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the HPU Soccer fields on Center Avenue to meet with a complainant regarding an assault. According to the report, the complainant stated that her husband threw a full jar of mayonnaise at her, striking her in the back of the head. She also reported that he kicked her in the left side of the head when she got up off of the bed. A report was filed for Assault with Injury Family Violence.
All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
