Wednesday, May 7

*8:19 AM – Brownwood Police met a complainant at the law enforcement center regarding fraud.  According to the report, a subject claiming to be with Ace Cash offered the complainant a loan requiring her to pay $95 up front.  The complainant later discovered that the loan agreement was fraudulent and that she fallen victim to a scam after paying the $95.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report of illegal dumping on County Road 350.  According to the report, Deputy Troy Boulter made contact with the owner of the property who did state he had been dumping his trash there for about a year and had permitted another person to dump trash there as well.  The owner will get the property cleaned up and the trash (estimated over 1000 pounds) legally disposed of, the report states.

Thursday, May 8

*9:25 AM – The Brownwood ISD resource officer was called to the tennis courts at the high school campus where he observed a juvenile running from an assistant principal.  During the course of the investigation, the juvenile committed the offense of terroristic threat toward the assistant principal in the officer’s presence, the report states.  He was placed into custody and while being walked to the vehicle, the juvenile then assaulted the officer by kicking him twice in the left knee, according to the report.  The juvenile was charged with terroristic threat and assault on a public servant and transported to the juvenile detention center.

*10:31 AM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to Wal-Mart regarding theft.  According to the report, a male subject attempted to steal an item from the store.  After being confronted by employees, the suspect fled the scene, the report states.  Evidence was obtained and the suspect has been identified, according to police.

*10:44 AM – Brownwood Police responded to the 2000 block of US Hwy 377 regarding a motor vehicle accident.   According to the report, it was later discovered that the other vehicle involved had left the original scene of the accident.

*11:37 AM – A Brownwood Police officer was dispatched on a suspicious call and received information that Michael Lee Mcann and Alice Sparks Melton had just left an apartment complex located in the 1700 block of Good Shepherd in a vehicle, according to the report.  Contact was made with both subjects and 30-year-old Michael Mcann of Brownwood was arrested for no driver’s license and on several warrants/surety withdrawals related to an accident involving damage to vehicle equal or greater than $200, possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 less than 1 gram in a drug free zone, no driver’s license, no driver’s license 3rd or more, and driving while license invalid.  Mcann was being held in the Brown County Jail in lieu of bonds totaling $40,500 as of Friday morning.  Alice Melton was also arrested for failure to identify and outstanding warrants related to a surety withdrawal-credit/debit card abuse and motion to adjudicate/theft of property equal to $500 less than $1,500.

*2:12 PM – Brownwood Police were called to Wal-Mart regarding trespassing.  According to the report, this call led to the arrest of 25-year-old Monica Nicole Smith for the offense of criminal trespassing.

*4:52 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to a home near Lake Brownwood regarding a female who had an abusive husband and wanted to know her options.  During the investigation, the deputy determined that an assault had occurred this date and the complainant stated that she was afraid and wanted to press charges against her husband for the assault.

*6:40 PM – Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report of the theft of a license plate.  According to the report, a Brown County resident reported that her license plate had been stolen in Austin sometime between April 25 and April 26.  Austin Police Department contacted her informing her that they had recovered her license plate from a vehicle involved in numerous criminal acts, the report states.  The suspect(s) had been arrested according to Austin Police; however, she was advised to file a report with local law enforcement, according to the report.

*7:12 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to Wal-Mart regarding theft.  According to the report, loss prevention officers on duty had detained a male subject for theft.  After an investigation, the male was also issued a citation for theft less than $50.

*7:19 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1900 block of Avenue B regarding the burglary of a building around the date of April 24th.  According to the report, a hammer/nail gun had valued at $750 had been taken during the incident.

*9:39 PM – Brownwood Police met a complainant at the law enforcement center regarding identity theft.  According to the report, the complainant stated that an unknown subject ordered a cell phone in the complainant’s name and changed the complainant’s cell phone plan without his consent.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 24-year-old Wendy Ann Lowery of Abilene on a warrant related to motion to revoke/fraudulent/possession/identifying info.

Friday, May 9

*4:00 AM – A Brownwood Police officer made a traffic stop in the 500 block of S. Broadway after observing the vehicle turn a corner, crossing the center stripe and traveling into the center lane.  This call led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 24-year-old Tyler Lawrence Greenhaw of Brownwood for possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 less than 1 gram.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 33-year-old Robert Lee Powell, Jr. of Brownwood on a warrant related to motion to revoke/possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 40-year-old Brandon David Smith of Brownwood for possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 equal or greater than 4 grams less than 200 grams.
