GriffinHarleyA Brown County man was arrested on drug charges over the weekend while a Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy was searching for a woman who ran away from the officer while on a traffic stop.

The deputy made a stop on a vehicle for an expired registration on Friday, May 3rd on Hwy 279 near Chaparral Drive.  According to the deputy’s report, the driver was determined to have a suspended driver’s license and did not have current insurance on the vehicle.  The deputy informed the woman that she would be going to jail for the offense of driving while license invalid and for failure to maintain financial responsibility, the report states.  While a consensual search of the vehicle was being conducted, the driver fled on foot from the area and the deputy was unable to locate her.  A warrant is being sought for her arrest.

When the deputy was attempting to locate the female suspect who fled on foot, he made contact with a male, identified as 36-year-old Harley Griffin, at his residence on Chaparral Drive.  During a consent search of Griffin’s residence, numerous narcotics were in plain view, the report states.  During the search, the deputy observed packaging materials, scales, and money located with the narcotics, and Griffin told the deputy that he had sold the narcotics, the report states.  Narcotics located were 18.8 grams of methamphetamine in various packaging and 20.2 grams of marijuana in all of its packaging, according to the report.  Griffin was arrested and charged with manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance penalty group 1 greater than 4 grams less than 200 grams.  Griffin is being held in the Brown County Jail on bonds totaling $28,000.

Thursday, April 25

*2:48 PM – The Brownwood High School resource officer was contacted by administration of BHS regarding a student having grabbed another student and hung them over the two story railing in the middle of the school.  An investigation determined the offense of deadly conduct was committed and a directive to apprehend was requested for the juvenile, the report states.  The juvenile was placed in DAEP (Disciplinary Alternative Education Program) for 45 days as school discipline, according to the report.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report of stolen metal pipe, dump pots and assorted fittings from an oil lease on County Road 574.  According to the report, the complainant estimated the value of the stolen items to be approximately $3000.  Further investigation led to a suspect being identified.  At the time of the report, no arrest had been made.

Tuesday, April 30

*7:52 AM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2100 block of Slayden Street, Brownwood High School, regarding the theft of property.  According to the report, a student reported to the school resource officer that her bicycle was stolen from her home in the 2000 block of 7th Street.  No suspects were known at the time of the report and the investigation was ongoing, the report states.

Wednesday, May 1

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a stolen electric service pole, a weather cap, and the wire that feeds into a meter box off of a building located on Hwy 183N in May.

Thursday, May 2

*11:00 AM – Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report of the burglary of a building located on Hwy 67/84.  According to the report, the burglary had occurred in the overnight hours.  The victim advised that there were tracks going from the storage shed leading down the railroad tracks to a residence, the report states.  The responding deputies spoke with several individuals at the residence about the burglary and photos were taken of evidence pieces, according to the report.  Property was later located at Brownwood Iron and Metal by investigator Land and was returned to its rightful owner, the report states.

Friday, May 3

*6:57 AM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1700 block of 4th Street regarding theft.

*8:28 AM – Brownwood Police received a report of a hit and run.  According to the report, the complainant stated that while parked in the Wal-Mart parking lot, his brown S-10 pickup had lewd drawings on the windows with a lipstick type material by unknown actors.

*7:51 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1800 block of 4th Street regarding an assault.  According to the report, a female complainant stated that her husband had assaulted her earlier in the day at a residence in Brownwood.

*8:50 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1800 block of 7th Street regarding a domestic disturbance.  After interviewing all of the parties involved, officers determined they had received numerous conflicting stories, the report states.  None of the parties involved wished to pursue any criminal charges, according to the report.

*Early Police arrested 39-year-old Joseph Luther Cook of Early on warrants related to failure to appear and possession of drug paraphernalia.

*Brownwood Police arrested 19-year-old Dustin Wesley Edmiston on a warrant for motion to revoke related to possess use inhale/ingest volatile chemical.

*Early Police arrested 31-year-old Jeffrey Rian Lemons of Early on a Mills County warrant for motion to revoke related to burglary of a habitation.

Saturday, May 4

*11:39 AM – Brownwood Police were called to the 2400 block of Vine Street regarding theft.  According to the report, a friend of the complainant borrowed a Samsung Galaxy tablet and refused to return the tablet.

*12:08 AM – Brownwood Police conducted a traffic stop in the 300 block of W. Commerce.  After an investigation, the driver of the vehicle, identified as 26-year-old  Christopher Cooley, was determined to be driving while intoxicated, according to the police report.  Cooley was subsequently arrested for driving while intoxicated.

*5:19 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1800 block of Waco Street regarding a civil standby.  According to the report, the female subject removed her property and was issued a criminal trespass warning to the property.

*7:28 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1200 block of Willis Street regarding criminal mischief.  According to the report, the complainant stated that her boyfriend had cut up her clothing, boots and damaged a necklace.

*7:45 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Bluffview regarding a domestic disturbance.  According to the report, both the male and female parties involved stated that they were assaulted by the other.

*9:30 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 300 block of Bluffview regarding criminal mischief.  According to the report, the complainant stated that her daughter’s boyfriend slashed two tires on her vehicle.

*10:14 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 500 block of E. Baker regarding public intoxication.  According to the report, a male subject was found to be intoxicated and causing problems in the parking lot of the Brownwood Coliseum.  18-year-old Nick Ray Hogue, Jr. was arrested after his conduct and subsequent investigation revealed that he was intoxicated, the report states.

*10:31 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1800 block of Vincent Street regarding a domestic disturbance.  According to the report, the victim stated that her ex-husband had strangled her and damaged her vehicle.  The suspect had left the scene prior to the officer’s arrival and could not be located.

*36-year-old Daniel Buitron of May turned himself in on a warrant related to interfere with child custody.

*Early Police arrested 18-year-old Hayden Chase Hammond on a warrant related to assault causes bodily injury.

Sunday, May 5

*10:05 AM – Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a stolen 4-wheeler, valued at approximately $500.  According to the report, the vehicle was taken during the overnight hours and no suspects were known; however the complainant stated he wished to pursue criminal charges if a suspect could be determined.

*3:49 PM – A Brownwood Police officer was approached by a citizen in Riverside Park who advised that they had observed several subjects in the back of the park smoking what they believed to be marijuana.  This call led to the arrest of four adults identified as 19-year-old Dustin Scott Atkins, 17-year-old Dustin Jered Evans, 21-year-old Bryan Dee Penn II, 24-year-old Daniel Stephen Priester, and one juvenile for possession of marijuana under 2 ounces in a drug free zone.

*4:00 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1600 block of Avenue K regarding a domestic disturbance.  According to the report, the argument was related to the estranged wife refusing to give one half of the month’s food stamps to her estranged husband.

*7:48 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to the 15000 block of County Road 239 regarding a physical domestic disturbance.  According to the report, during a physical altercation, the complainant stated that her daughter, 18-year-old Lia Rabel Valadez, began tearing up the house and when she tried to restrain her, Valadez scratched her on the arm and chest.  Another female came to assist and when she tried to separate the two, Valadez struck her in the left eye with a fist, the report states.  Valadez was arrested for assault family violence.

*8:44 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2400 block of Elizabeth Drive regarding an unwanted person.  According to the report, a female reported that she had been assaulted by her ex-boyfriend the day before in Brownwood.  The suspect was located and the incident was documented.

*9:12 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 2300 block of Belle Plain regarding a robbery.  According to the report, the victim stated that she had been assaulted by a black male that had asked her for her money.  The male suspect took off running after he had assaulted her, the report states.

*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 43-year-old Leonel Villarreal for DWI 3rd or more.

*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 44-year-old Robb Wells of Hereford for driving while intoxicated with open container.

Monday, May 6

*2:13 AM – Brownwood Police made a traffic stop in the 1200 block of Vine Street regarding a defective license plate lamp.  According to the report, the investigation determined that a passenger in the vehicle, identified as 17-year-old Dustin Wade Marshall, was arrested for possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces and possession of a controlled substance penalty group one less than one gram.

*Brownwood Police arrested 37-year-old Jessie Gabriel Robles for driving while intoxicated.
