Monday, May 4

*4:18 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 2100 block of Slayden Street regarding theft.  According to the report, a juvenile complainant stated that money was stolen from his locker while he attended class.

*8:46 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to Feather Bay regarding a burglary of a habitation.  According to the report, the complainant had returned from a softball game and found his home had been broken into and several computers and miscellaneous items had been taken.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report of missing cattle from a property on Hwy 183 S. in Zephyr.  According to the report, the complainant stated that a gate had been damaged but was closed.  The complainant reported that a neighbor had corralled the complainant’s horses at their property, according to law enforcement.  The complainant’s mother had found two buildings, the tack room and a workshop, had been broken into and a number of items stolen, and a flatbed utility trailer had been moved and the scrap metal and other scrap property which was on it had been taken, the report states.

Tuesday, May 5

*7:45 AM – An Early police officer made a traffic stop in the 900 block of Early Blvd. on a traffic violation. According to the report, the officer noticed a strong odor of marijuana was coming from the vehicle when he approached it. When the officer questioned the driver, identified as 30-year-old Joshua Daniel Bennett of Comanche about the smell, he admitted having marijuana and a smoking pipe in the vehicle, which were surrendered, the report states. Bennett was placed under arrest for possession of marijuana in drug free zone, after driving through the school zones, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

*8:23 AM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy made a traffic stop in the Allsup’s parking lot which resulted in the arrest of 24-year-old Crystal Gayle Newingham of Brownwood.  According to the report, Newingham had a suspended driver’s license with multiple convictions and was subsequently charged with driving while license invalid with previous conviction.

*10:16 AM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2000 block of 1st Street regarding the burglary of a building.  According to the report, three sanders were stolen during the incident.

*5:54 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a call of found property on County Road 381.  The complainant stated that while boarding up the windows of an unoccupied residence he owns, he found two bicycles behind the house which did not belong to him, according to the report.  The deputy transported the bicycles to the Law Enforcement Center for safe keeping.

*7:09 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 800 block of Rogan Street regarding a juvenile problem.  According to the report, the complainant stated that her daughter was assaulted during school hours this date.

*Early Police arrested 30-year-old Joshua Bennett of Comanche for possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces in a drug free zone and possession of drug paraphernalia.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 30-year-old Luis Rivera Cintron of Brownwood on warrants related to driver’s license/ID false/failure to maintain financial responsibility, escape from custody, and criminal mischief equal or greater than $50 less than $500.

*The Brownwood City Marshal arrested 49-year-old Joanne Morton McCraw of Brownwood on warrants related to expired registration and failure to appear.

*45-year-old Britt Wade Stevens of Brownwood was arrested on a warrant related to terroristic threat fear of immanent bodily injury.

*The Brownwood City Marshal arrested 41-year-old Billy Wayne Thomas of Coleman on a warrant related to assault causes bodily injury family violence.

Wednesday, May 6

*1:41 AM – Brownwood Police made a traffic stop in the 200 block of E. Commerce regarding speeding.  According to the report, the vehicle was observed by the officer’s radar to be traveling at 47 mph in a 35 mph zone.  This stop led to the arrest of 31-year-old John Layton of Early for driving while intoxicated 2nd, the report states.

* 33-year-old Stephanie Baker of Brownwood was arrested for possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 less than 1 gram.

*31-year-old William John Mullian of Dublin was arrested for manufacture delivery of a controlled substance penalty group 1 equal or greater than 4 grams less than 200 grams, possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces and possession delivery of drug paraphernalia.

The Early Police Department and the Brownwood Police department joined together while conducting a drug investigation regarding individuals bringing methamphetamine to the Early/Brownwood area according to EPD Chief David Mercer. This investigation resulted in the arrest of 34-year-old Stephanie Rena Baker and 31-year-old William John Mullian, both of Early.

According to the report, a traffic stop was conducted in the 1300 block of Early Blvd. by an EPD officer who observed Mullian attempt to hide something which turned out to be drug paraphernalia. Officers then searched the vehicle and located drug paraphernalia including items used for smoking methamphetamine and items used to package methamphetamine for sale, the report states. Officers also located a bag containing over 20 grams of methamphetamines some marijuana and a smaller baggie containing a small amount of methamphetamine, according to Mercer.

Both Mullian and Baker were taken into custody, charged with possession of controlled substance with intent to manufacture and deliver over 4 grams under 200 according to the report. Mullian was additionally charged with possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces and possession of drug paraphernalia, the report states.

“It was learned that Mullian has been bringing methamphetamine into the Brownwood/Early area for some time now,” Mercer stated.  “The cooperative effort between agencies continues to be a driving force in the constant battle of drug trafficking and abuse.”
