A Brownwood woman was arrested over the weekend after she allegedly rammed her vehicle into another vehicle during a child custody dispute, according to police reports.
According to the report, the mother of the child accompanied by the child’s grandmother, identified as 42-year-old Renea Rios of Brownwood, went to the father of the child’s apartment at approximately 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning. According to the report, the father attempted to leave the apartment with the child in his Chevy Impala and the mother of the child climbed into the Impala while the father was buckling the child into a safety seat. Meanwhile, Rios allegedly got into her vehicle, a Dodge Dakota pickup, and rammed the Impala from behind, attempting to stop the father from leaving with her grandchild, the report states. According to police, the father then drove the child and the mother down Coggin Avenue in an attempt to end the incident and was followed by Rios who continued to ram the Impala as they traveled down Coggin Avenue, according to the report. The father eventually pulled into the Villa Apartments in the 4200 block of S. US Hwy 377. Rios called police reporting that the father had attempted to kidnap her daughter and grandchild, the report states.
Police investigated the incident and determined that they could not remove the child from either parent’s custody without a court order. According to the report, it was also determined that Rios had used her vehicle as a deadly weapon, intentionally or knowingly threatening the father with imminent bodily injury, knowing that her granddaughter was also an occupant of the vehicle during the time she was ramming it with her vehicle. It was also determined that Rios had knowingly, recklessly or with criminal negligence placed the child in imminent danger of death, bodily injury, or physical /mental impairment during the incident, the report states. Brownwood Police arrested Rios for the offenses of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and abandoning or endangering a child.
Rios was released on Sunday, May 4 after posting bonds totaling $20,000.
Child Protective Agency (CPA) was notified of the incident.

Friday, May 2
*12:25 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 200 block of W. Commerce regarding the theft of property. According to the report, a male subject was found to have stolen a phone from the location.
*1:32 PM – While working on criminal interdiction, Brown County Sheriff’s Investigators James Stroope and Nathan Land made contact with 66-year-old Frank Brown and 56-year-old Curtis Deeds, both of Brownwood, at a room in the Value Lodge motel. According to the report, while a consensual search of the room was made, Investigator Stroope noticed Deeds place a used methamphetamine baggie on the bed. He was speaking with Brown who had a red e-cigarette bag in his right hand, and when Stroope asked to search it, Brown unzipped it and turned away from the officer as he removed a baggie of methamphetamine from the case and swallowed it, despite the investigators’ attempts to stop him, the report states. Brown was taken to the Brownwood Regional Medical Center by ambulance, according to the report. A used meth pipe and a liter were found in the e-cigarette bag along with a syringe, the report states. A search of the vehicle Brown and Deeds were seen exiting prior to the investigators’ contact located a half burnt marijuana cigarette, according to the report. Brown was charged with possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 less than 1 gram in a drug free zone, tamper with or fabricate physical evidence, resist arrest, and possession of marijuana. Deeds was charged with possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 less than 1 gram in a drug free zone.
*2:40 PM – Brownwood Police were called to Wal-Mart related to theft of property. According to the report, loss prevention employees had a female detained for shoplifting. This call led to the arrest of 52-year-old Deborah Jean Kirkpatrick of Rising Star for the offense of theft of property.
*5:18 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1000 block of W. Commerce regarding an unwanted person. This call led to the arrest of 35-year-old Billy Joe Brummet of Lake Brownwood for the offense of public intoxication, the report states.
*8:39 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2300 block of 14th Street regarding a welfare check. According to the report, drug activity was reported in the area and the caller asked that the welfare of the children at the residence be checked. According to the report, this call led to the arrest of 32-year-old Andrew Joseph Harvey of Brownwood for possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 less than 1 gram and possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces.
*10:20 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1600 block of 11th Street regarding a male subject yelling racial slurs at his neighbor for playing his music too loud. According to the report, the officer conducted an investigation that resulted in one subject being issued a criminal trespass warning and another subject claiming to have been punched on his back.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report of cruelty to animals at a property on Ardee Drive. According to the report, a deputy located dogs that were being neglected and the owner was advised that an officer would be in contact with him about the condition of the dogs.
*18-year-old Jacquarion M. Betters of the Ron Jackson State Juvenile Correctional Center was arrested by Texas Juvenile Justice Department for assault on a public servant.
*The Brownwood City Marshal arrested 42-year-old Eddie Ted Gomez of Brownwood on a warrant related to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Gomez was later released on $25,000 bond.
*The Brownwood City Marshal arrested 41-year-old James Anthony Romero of Brownwood on a warrant related to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Romero was later released on $25,000 bond.
*Texas Juvenile Justice arrested 17-year-old Olivia S. Toomer of the Ron Jackson State Juvenile Justice Center for assault on a public servant.
Saturday, May 3
*2:45 AM – Brown County Sheriff’s Sergeant Pete Bastardo was dispatched to the area of County Road 381 regarding shots fired. This was the second call that had been received during the night, the report states. According to the officer’s report, the complainant gave a description of the suspect’s vehicle and Sgt. Bastardo was able to locate it and make contact with the driver, identified as 20-year-old Emilio Albert Rangel of Early. Consent to search the vehicle was given by Rangel who admitted that he had been smoking marijuana earlier during the day, the report states. Rangel was noted to have an odor of alcohol on his breath and an open can of beer was located on the driver’s floorboard of the vehicle along with a six pack on the front seat that was missing four beers and a partial marijuana cigarette in the ash tray, according to the report. A twelve gauge shotgun and an AK-47 were located in the back seat; however Rangel denied having fired a gun, the report states. A spent cartridge belonging to the AK-47 was found in the driver’s side floorboard of the vehicle along with the AK-47’s magazine sitting in the front seat of the vehicle next to where Rangel was sitting, according to the report. Due to Rangel being 20 years-old and operating a motor vehicle, he was charged with minor driving while under the influence and he was charged with possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces. Due to the evidence found in the investigation, Rangel was also charged with disorderly conduct, the report states.
*3:06 PM – Brownwood Police were called to Wal-Mart regarding theft. According to the report, the complainant wished to pursue charges against the suspect. Due to the total value of the property stolen, a citation was issued, the report states.
*3:29 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 3600 block of S US Hwy 377, Wild Rocks Salon. According to the report, a customer allegedly stole money from an employee’s wallet at the location. A suspect was identified, the report states.
*4:50 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 2800 block of S US Hwy 377 regarding the theft of fuel. According to the report, 34-year-old Robert Lee Powell of Lampasas was arrested by a Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper for theft of property greater than $50 less than $500, driving while license invalid and fail to report accident. Powell was being held in the Brown County Jail on bonds totaling $5,000 as of Monday morning.
*5:04 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2600 block of Vine Street regarding an unwanted person. According to the report, while on scene, the officer learned of an assault which had taken place earlier in the week and the incident was documented.
*7:23 PM – Brownwood Police were called to Wal-Mart regarding theft. According to the report, the loss prevention employee advised that two females were detained identified as 24-year-old Kalista Sudderth and 28-year-old Nadia Dalleh, both of Early, for theft of property totaling $277. Both Sudderth and Dalleh were arrested for class B theft.
*10:10 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to a residence on Patricia Lane in Brownwood regarding terroristic threat. According to the report, 21-year-old John Austin Branham of Brownwood admitted to pulling a pocket knife from his pants, opening it and telling his father that he was going to kill him during an argument. Branham’s father was not injured and Branham was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, family violence.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a property on Belfast Drive regarding theft. According to the report, the deputy spoke with the victim and a witness who stated that he had witnessed a named suspect take the items the previous day at approximately 5:00 p.m.
*Early Police arrested 48-year-old Maria Delores Robledo of Early on a warrant related to theft of service and surety withdrawals related to duty on striking fixture and driving while license invalid.
*Brownwood Police arrested 20-year-old Jackson Brook Weekley of Brownwood on a warrant related to motion to adjudicate/possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver in a drug free zone. Weekley was being held at the Brown County Jail on $20,000 bond
Sunday, May 4
*12:07 AM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 500 block of 7th Street regarding criminal mischief to a vehicle. According to the report, a suspect has been identified.
*3:40 AM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1100 block of Melwood regarding a domestic disturbance. While the officer was en route, communications advised that the subject was at the residence “tearing stuff up.” A warrant will be sought for several charges, the report states.
*5:47 AM – Brownwood Police were called to the 500 block of 7th Street regarding criminal mischief.
*10:09 AM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 3800 block of S US Hwy 377 regarding a burglary. According to the report, it was determined that nothing had been stolen from the business, Trees Forever.
*12:49 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 2000 block of 10th Street regarding a follow up. According to the report, while on scene the officer became aware of a subject whose vehicle had been damaged.
*16:09 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to 1000 block of Main Street in Blanket for a report of an unwanted person. According to the report, the complainant advised that her husband’s uncle came to her property yelling and cursing at her; wanting to know where her husband was located. When the complainant told the suspect to leave, he refused the report states. The suspect was issued a criminal trespass warning for her residence.
*6:23 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to Wal-Mart regarding theft. According to the report, the loss prevention officer advised he had observed and detained 18-year-old Patricia Taylor King and 17-year-old Justice Olivia Laird, both of Brownwood, for stealing property from Wal-Mart. King and Laird were arrested and charged with theft of property greater than $50 less than $500.
*19:42 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to the 6900 block of CR 291 in Early regarding the theft of copper. According to the report, the complainants advised the deputy that a quantity of copper had been stolen out of the residence.
*Early Police arrested 37-year-old Carleton Wesley Davis of Blanket for driving while intoxicated.
*Early police arrested 30-year-old Joshua Adam Doud of Brownwood for possession of marijuana equal or less than 2 ounces in a drug free zone.
*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 38-year-old Lisa Doud of Brownwood for driving while intoxicated.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 33-year-old Cody Alan Williams of San Antonio on warrants related to speeding, violate promise to appear, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Monday, May 5
*2:32 AM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2400 block of Elizabeth regarding the burglary of a habitation. According to the report, sometime after 5:45 PM this date, the complainant’s home was burglarized. A suspect was named and the incident is pending further investigation, the report states.
*12:30 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 2700 block of 4th Street regarding a domestic disturbance. According to the report, 28-year-old John Paul Nichter of Conroe was intoxicated and threatened to leave with the complainant’s child. After the complainant threatened to call police, Nichter left; however, he was later located and placed under arrest for public intoxication, the report states.
