Law enforcement arrests and reports released Tuesday, May 29, 2012.
Friday, May 25
*9:29am – Brown County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home near FM 2126 regarding burglary. The complainant said that someone came onto the property overnight and stole power tools from the house and storage shed. The report states that the suspects used the complainant’s golf cart as well which was found on an adjacent property.
*2:33pm-Brownwood Police received information of narcotics activity at a residence in a south Brownwood neighborhood. According to the report, a BPD narcotics detective and BPD criminal investigation detectives along with a patrol officer responded to the residence to perform an investigation. BPD Assistant Chief James Fuller stated that a probation search was performed and a small quantity of a controlled substance, K-2, was found and the resident, identified as 20-year-old Robert Colbert Jr., was placed under arrest charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Grade 2 less than 1 gram in a Drug Free Zone. The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.
*4:48pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1500 block of Terrace Drive regarding a hit and run accident. According to the report, the suspect vehicle was located; however contact was not able to be made with the suspect and the investigation is ongoing. Damage to the victim vehicle is estimated at $400.00.
*5:40pm-Brown County Sheriff’s Office located a male subject laying next to a bicycle and performed a welfare check due to the hot weather and seeing no movement of the subject. According to the report, the man, identified as 41-year-old George Layton, was found to be intoxicated. Layton stated that he had consumed 3 beers and fallen off of his bicycle so he decided to take a nap, the report states. Slayton was arrested and charged with Public Intoxication.
*7:06pm-Brown County Sheriff’s Office was called to the Oak Point area regarding the theft of a 26 foot camper trailer. According to the report, the complainant rarely comes to the area and had been back for the first time since October 2011 and found that the trailer was missing. According to the report, no suspect information was available.
*8:19pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 3500 block of Rhodes Road regarding criminal mischief. According to the report, the complainant stated that between 9:30am and 7:55pm on this date, an unknown subject(s) kicked in the door to the residence. There was no sign of entry to the residence and no items stolen; however the complainant did wish to pursue charges if a suspect can be identified.
*9:50pm-Brown County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched regarding the burglary of a home. According to the report, the complainant stated that she and her children had been out of town for approximately 3 months and sometime while they were gone, the home was entered and several items taken. One of the stolen items was a teddy bear which had a special ring sewn inside it, which the complainant stated that very few people would have knowledge of, according to the report. Other items included a washer and dryer, electronics, cedar chest with sports cards, jewelry, power tools and a few old coins, the report states.
*10:23pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to 401 W. Commerce, Wal-Mart, regarding theft. According to the report, the complainant stated that a male had ridden a bicycle out of the store and toward Davis Lane. The complainant stated that Wal-Mart did wish to pursue charges if the subject is located.
*10:53pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1600 block of Belle Plain Street regarding criminal mischief and theft. According to the report, the complainant returned home and observed the front window of his residence had been broken out and his outside security camera had been stolen.
*11:06pm-Brownwood Police were called to the area of Austin Avenue and Beaver Street regarding a hit and run accident. According to the report, the suspect vehicle and driver had left the scene. Officers met with the victim and the suspect driver was later identified, the report states. No arrests were made at the time of the report.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 34-year-old Shanna Leigh Hutchins for Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Grade 1 less than 1 gram.
Saturday, May 26
*12:04am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2500 block of Vine Street regarding a medical emergency involving a juvenile. According to BPD Assistant Chief James Fuller, three 14-year-old males were found at the residence smoking K-2 and one or more were on probation.
*12:27am-Brownwood Police were called to the 2500 block of N. Main Blvd. regarding a runaway juvenile. According to the report, the complainant stated that the female juvenile to whom she is a guardian left the residence at approximately 7:00pm on May 25th and has not returned.
*12:45am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1600 block of Belle Plain Street regarding the violation of an emergency protective order. According to the report, the complainant stated that the suspect, identified as 48-year-old Alfredo Villareal, had driven by the complainant’s residence starting at approximately 2:00pm this date, and was yelling and threatening the complainant. Villarreal was placed under arrest for Criminal Trespass.
*12:53am-Brownwood Police were called to the 1100 block of Vine Street regarding an unwanted subject. According to the report a trespass warning was issued.
*9:26pm-Brown County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance on County Road 275 in Zephyr. According to the report, a woman threw a beer bottle at a man and as the bottle shattered a piece of glass struck him in the face causing a laceration. The woman, identified as Josephine Harlan, was found to be intoxicated and admitted to throwing the bottle. Harlan was arrested for Assault Causing Bodily Injury.
*10:41pm-A Brownwood Police officer was on patrol in the 1300 block of 7th Street when she made contact with some suspicious acting suspects, one of which was 21-year-old Dustin Roberts, police reports state. According to the report, after the investigation, Roberts was placed under arrest for Possession of Marijuana less than 2 ounces.
Sunday, May 27
*12:08am-Brownwood Police were called to the 900 block of Riverside regarding an unwanted person. According to the report, at the request of the business, a criminal trespass warning was issued to the male suspect.
*2:07am-Brownwood Police were called to the 700 block of W. Commerce regarding criminal mischief. According to the report, sometime between midnight and the time of the report, an unknown subject(s) threw a piece of concrete through the right front window of the complainant’s vehicle. The complainant estimated the repair cost at $300 and stated that $100 cash was stolen from the vehicle.
*3:37am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 700 block of Baker Street regarding an assault. According to the report, the complainant stated that a known suspect had assaulted him. The complainant had an approximately 2-inch long shallow laceration on his upper right arm, the report states. The complainant did not wish to pursue criminal charges and did not want medical services.
*4:12am-Brownwood Police were called to Wal-Mart regarding an unwanted subject. According to the report, a criminal trespass warning was issued to a male subject at the store manager’s request.
*7:48am-A Brownwood Police made a traffic stop in the 1500 block of Coggin Avenue. As a result of this stop, Jonathan Ortega was placed under arrest for Possession of Marijuana less than 2 ounces, according to the report.
*8:53am-Brownwood Police were called to the 1800 block of Coggin Avenue regarding criminal mischief. According to the report, two vans belonging to the Coggin Avenue Baptist Church had their windows damaged. The damage had occurred during the night according to the church administrator.
*3:05pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1700 block of 7th Street regarding the burglary of a vehicle. According to the report, an AM/FM Cassette player, valued at $100, was taken from the unsecured vehicle. There were no suspects at the time of the report.
*10:12pm-While on patrol, a Brownwood Police officer noticed a vehicle in the left turn lane at the 900 block of Main Street turning onto W. Austin Avenue accelerating to a point where the vehicle lost traction. According to the report, the vehicle then passed the patrol unit and turned onto Melwood Street pulling to the curb on the wrong side of the street in the 700 block. As the officer pulled in behind the vehicle with his emergency lights activated, the driver, later identified as 31-year-old Rafael Lara, exited the vehicle and began to run down the sidewalk away from the vehicle, the report states. After the officer exited his patrol unit and commanded Lara to stop and to come back, Lara was approximately 75 feet away, but obeyed and returned to the officer, according to the report. Lara was arrested, charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Possess Use Inhale/Ingest Volatile Chemical, and Evading Arrest or Detention.
*11:37pm-Brownwnood Police are investigating the alleged sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl. According to police reports, a 15-year-old suspect has been named and charges are being pursued.
*Brownwood Police arrested 19-year-old Jonathan Andrew Ortega for Possession of Marijuana less than 2 oz.
Monday, May 28
*7:30am – Brown County Sheriff’s Office took a report of burglary of a habitation after a homeowner stopped a suspect from entering his house. The complainant told the deputy that they saw the suspect attempt to crawl through a front bedroom window of the home. The complainant said that they did not know the suspect, and they did not take anything from the house.
*10:25am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 800 block of 1st Street regarding criminal mischief. According to the report, the complainant’s vehicle had been “keyed” sometime during the night.
*10:41am-Brownwood Police were called to the 2400 block of Austin Avenue regarding theft. According to the report, the complainant stated that sometime between May 11th and May 26th, a red metal tool box was taken out of his garage.
*12:06am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1500 block of Phillips Drive regarding an unwanted person. According to the report, a criminal trespass warning was issued per the complainant’s request.
*5:33pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1800 block of Avenue D regarding the burglary of a vehicle. According to the report, several items were stolen from the complainant’s unsecured vehicle.
*7:37pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 4400 block of US Hwy 377S regarding a burglary. According to the report, three coin operated machines had been forcefully accessed and an undetermined amount of money had been removed. There were no suspects at the time of the report.
*11:38pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 300 block of Center Avenue regarding the burglary of a vehicle. According to the report, the complainant’s vehicle was broken into and several items were stolen. Entry was gained by smashing out a window with a rock, the report states.
*Early Police Department arrested 45-year-old Albert Elmer Holland of Zephyr for Driving While Intoxicated.
Tuesday, May 29
*1:46am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the Brown County Jail sally port entrance to check a suspicious subject in a vehicle. According to the report, 24-year-old Christina Marie Elliott was in possession of several tablets of a prescription drug not prescribed to her and she was placed under arrest for the charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Grade 3 less than 28 grams. Police state that Elliott came to the Law Enforcement Center to report a crime which had occurred at her home; however, after going to her home, officers found that no crime had occurred.
*Brown county Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop for the driver not wearing a seat belt. According to the report, during the course of the stop, a red velvet bag was located under the front of the vehicle where the passenger, 25-year-old Arthur Lopez had been standing. Inside the bag were several baggies of methamphetamine, the report states. Lopez was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Grade 1 less than 1 gram.
All arrestees are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
