Brownwood Police officers were called to the Brownwood Regional Medical Center Monday night regarding an assault which left a woman’s face severely lacerated, according to Brownwood Police. The assault occurred in the 3700 block of Savoy, at a local apartment complex.
According to the report, the officer arrived at the emergency room, saw the victim and stated that the right side of her face was “littered with wicked lacerations, with the most traumatized facial wound extending the length of the victim’s face; deep enough to have gone completely through the jaw line.” The victim appeared calm and smelled of alcohol, and she stated that “Mimi” had struck her in the face with a bottle, the officer reported.
After an investigation it was learned that 25-year-old Mecora Marie Smith of Brownwood had struck the victim with a beer bottle, severely lacerating her face, the report states. Witnesses confirmed the victim’s account that Smith had accused the victim of having sex with her boyfriend and when the victim turned to walk upstairs to her apartment, Smith struck her in the face with a purple beer bottle with such force that it shattered the bottle, the report states. After being struck in the face, the victim then engaged Smith physically; however one witness, fearing the victim was seriously injured, pulled her from the fight and took her to the hospital for treatment, the report states.
Smith was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

*1:50 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy received a report of an assault at a residence near Lake Brownwood. According to the report, the victim stated that her daughter had assaulted her when she attempted to get a spare key for her late husband’s truck. No charges were filed; however, the incident was documented, the report states.
Friday, May 22
*2:09 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1600 block of Avenue I regarding criminal mischief.
*2:38 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy inspected the easements (bar ditches) in 3600 block and the 4900 block of CR 147 after receiving a letter from a Brown County inmate work crew supervisor about two illegal dump sites. According to the report, an inmate work crew cleaned up the trash, and provided the deputy a picture of the trash bags from one of the sites. A report for illegal dumping was completed, the report states.
*4:00 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was given information that a wanted subject would be at the CPS office for supervised visitation. According to the report, deputies went to the CPS office and located the female of Brownwood who was then arrested for 2 warrants. The woman made an outcry that the informing party, a local bail bondsman had been sexually harassing her since the day she was released on bond and that she believes he revoked her bond because she would not sleep with him, according to the report. The woman was being held in the Brown County Jail on bonds totaling $30,000 as of Tuesday morning.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Deputies went to a local apartment complex to look for a wanted subject. According to the report, when the front door opened, the deputy was told that the wanted person did not live there anymore; however an odor of marijuana was observed by the deputy. All occupants were made to exit the house and due to a search of the residence being denied, a search warrant was obtained, the report states. The search located multiple burnt blunts, a glass pipe used for smoking marijuana, a rolling device, digital scales, and methamphetamine, according to the report. 17-year-old William Robert Smith, Jr., 18-year-old Kassi Montemayor and 17-year-old Devon Montemayor (all of Brownwood) were arrested, charged with possession of marijuana.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 56-year-old Emilia Acevedo of Benjamin, Texas on a Taylor County warrant related to theft by check.
*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 21-year-old William Cefai of Cedar Park, Texas and 26-year-old Hannah Damarodas of Austin for possession of a controlled substance penalty group 2 equal or greater than 4 grams less than 400 grams. Cefai and Damarodas were each later released on $35,000 bond.
*Emily Gail Denson of Early turned herself in on a Taylor County warrant related to exploitation of elderly individual.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 32-year-old Jeremy David Drake of Brownwood on a warrant related to failure to appear/possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 less than 1 gram.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 23-year-old Meghan Turner Gray of Brownwood on warrants related to possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to appear possession of drug paraphernalia.
*Brownwood Police arrested 52-year-old Christine Hale on a warrant related to two counts of possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 less than 1 gram in a drug free zone.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 18-year-old David Blake Havens of Brownwood on a warrant related to motion to adjudicate assault family violence occlusion. Havens was being held in the Brown County Jail in lieu of $25,000.
*Brownwood Police arrested 48-year-old Lori Anne MacDougall of Brownwood for driving while intoxicated.
*Early Police arrested 19-year-old Joshua Mendoza of Bastrop for possession of marijuana in a drug free zone.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 20-year-old Jackie Ray Scott III of Elgin on a warrant related to four counts of aggravated robbery. Scott is being held in the Brown County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bond.
Saturday, May 23
*2:32 AM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2600 block of Southside Drive regarding theft. According to the report, a clerk at the convenience store reported an unknown male subject drove away without paying for $69.22 of diesel fuel. An investigation is ongoing, the report states.
*10:45 AM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1800 block of 13th Street regarding theft.
*12:35 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a report of a reckless driver travelling east on Hwy 67 between Brownwood and Bangs. According to the report, the vehicle was located and a traffic stop was made for observed traffic violations in approximately the 700 block of W. Commerce. The driver, identified as 31-year-old Pascal Ndjibu Ndela of Abilene, failed standardized field sobriety tests and was arrested for driving while intoxicated with an open container of alcohol, the report states. A search warrant for blood was issued and a blood specimen was drawn, the report states.
*1:49 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 400 block of W. Commerce regarding theft. This call led to the arrest of 23-year-old Shantell Shawntae Morgan of Brownwood for theft greater than $50 less than $500. Items stolen included personal care, underwear, and baby clothes valued at $91.49.
*4:53 PM – Brownwood Police made a traffic stop in the 2300 block of Avenue E regarding an expired registration. This stop led to the arrest of 24-year-old Carlo Colton Gossett of Mullin for driving while license invalid with previous conviction/suspension/without financial responsibility.
Sunday, May 24
*1:18 AM – Brownwood Police made a traffic stop in the 100 block of Coleman Street. According to the report, the officer noticed a smell of marijuana while speaking with the occupants of the vehicle. This stop led to the arrest of 18-year-old Gerardo Mares and 17-year-old Michael Espitia, both of Brownwood, for possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces.
*12:50 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 500 block of W. Commerce regarding the burglary of a motor vehicle. According to the report, a cell phone was stolen from the vehicle while parked in the parking lot of a local business.
*1:22 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a location on Hwy 279N in reference to criminal mischief of a vehicle, which had occurred during the overnight hours. According to the report, the estimated damage to the vehicle was valued at approximately $500.00. No suspect information was available at the time of this report.
*2:00 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1700 block of Avenue A for a follow up on a welfare check. According to police a report for harassment was made.
*3:59 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1600 block of 10th Street regarding a domestic disturbance. According to the report, the victim stated he had been assaulted to by suspect at a residence in Brownwood. The incident is pending further investigation, the report states.
*11:18 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy received a call to a residence on CR 405 East regarding a domestic disturbance. According to the report, the victim and a witness stated the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Chase Musick of Brownwood, came home from a friend’s house and became angry that the front door was locked. When the victim opened the door, Musick began beating him and threw the victim into a cedar post on the front porch and then to the ground where the he continued to beat the victim, the report states. The witness arrived and pulled Musick off the victim and the suspect fled on foot before officer’s arrival, according to the report. Musick returned later to the residence and was arrested for family violence assault.
*Brownwood Police arrested 30-year-old Bradley Alan Deschane of Brownwood on a warrant related to burglary of a building.
*42-year-old Brandy Gayle White AKA Brandi G. Wells of Brownwood was arrested by Texas Department of Public Safety for driving while intoxicated with open alcohol container.
Monday, May 25
*10:14 AM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1600 block of 7th Street regarding an assault. According to the report, the suspect is known and charges are expected to be filed.
*1:38 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 3900 block of Countryside Drive regarding the burglary of a habitation. According to the report, known suspects entered the residence and took items without the owner’s permission. An investigation is ongoing, the report states.
*3:30 PM – Brownwood Police officers executed a narcotics search warrant in the 1000 block of Vincent Street. During the search warrant, officers seized a large quantity of methamphetamine, a quantity of alprazolam, and a quantity of promethazine, the report states. Arrested at the scene was 24-year-old Kevin Ray Allen of Brownwood, charged with Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Penalty Group 1) and two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance (Penalty Group 3), according to the report. Also arrested at the scene was 25-year-old Orlando Eleazar Guevara of Early, charged with the same offenses and received an additional charge of Evading Arrest/Detention after fleeing out the back door of the residence, according to police. The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected according to police.
*4:04 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1200 block of 1st Street regarding the burglary of a vehicle. According to the report, a credit card, keys, a work apron and a box cutter were stolen from the vehicle.
*6:45 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 3500 block of 4th Street regarding the theft of a motor vehicle. According to the report, a city of Brownwood vehicle was stolen. A city employee who was on call had taken the vehicle to his residence where it was taken sometime Monday between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. According to the report, the keys had been left inside the unlocked vehicle.
*6:51 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was called to a residence on CR 498 in Brownwood regarding a domestic disturbance. According to the report, the suspect, identified as 34-year-old Shannon Floyd Bardwell of Brownwood, assaulted the victim when he tried to keep Bardwell from driving because he was intoxicated. This call led to the arrest of Bardwell for assault causes bodily injury family violence and resist arrest/search/transport, the report states.
*8:50 PM – Brownwood Police responded to the 2500 block of Waco Street regarding a wanted person. This call resulted in the arrest of 49-year-old Jacqueline Sessions of Brownwood for possession of a controlled substance penalty group 3 less than 28 grams and on active warrants for her arrest.
