Brownwood Police responded to the report of a child being bit by a dog in the 800 block of Poplar Street.  According to the report, the dog, a black lab, had gone to a residence in the 2200 block of Main Blvd.  Officers spoke to the mother of the injured child who refused medical treatment at the scene but took her son to Brownwood Regional Medical Center for treatment, the report states.  The dog charged an officer aggressively and the officer shot three rounds toward it and the dog ran away injured according to the report.  Officers located the dog and cornered it in a nearby pecan orchard in the 2300 block of Belle Plain where animal control officer Nick Ferguson apprehended the dog.

According to the report, while officers were trapping the dog, another officer spoke to the owner informing him of the dog’s actions that day, attacking another dog and currently biting the child.  The owner stated that the dog had received its rabies shots approximately 2 weeks ago at the Brown County Animal Clinic, the report states.  Ferguson took the dog to the Brown County Animal Clinic where it was observed to have a large laceration to its left rear and also to its chest area, according to the report.

The child was treated at BRMC for two puncture wounds and scratches to the right knee, the report states.

Thursday, May 17

*2:45pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the Brownwood Middle School regarding a fight between two students.  According to the report, an investigation determined that a fight had just occurred and the two students were given citations for disorderly conduct by fighting along with three days of in school suspension as school discipline.

*2:45pm-Brownwood Police responded to the Brownwood Middle School regarding a student who was found to have tobacco in his possession.  The juvenile was cited for Possession of Tobacco by Minor and additionally received three days in school suspension as school discipline.

*Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to Clear Creek Café in Brookesmith.  The deputy issued a criminal trespass warning to a subject at the complainant.

Friday, May 18

*8:49am-Brownwood Police made a traffic stop on a vehicle for a defective brake light.  According to the report, the stop led to the arrest of the driver, 24-year-old Elizabeth Renee Laing, for Driving While License Invalid.

*9:11am – Brown County Sheriff’s deputy took a report of criminal mischief.   The complainant reported that kids vandalized a tractor which was parked in a hay field on Leo Lane.  Reported damage included a bent control lever and busted light switch.

*9:22am-Brownwood Police were called to the 2800 block of 14th Street regarding the burglary of several storage buildings.  According to the report, the complainant discovered the units had been burglarized sometime between 4:00pm on May 17th and 9:00am this date.

*12:29pm-Brownwood Police conducted a traffic stop for speeding.  According to the report, the juvenile driver was issued a citation for minor in possession of tobacco.

*2:54pm-Brownwood Police narcotics officer assisted the Brown County Adult Probation Office with a probation search at a south Brownwood residence.  According to the report, a quantity of marijuana was found during the search and 57-year-old Charles Westley was arrested for possession of marijuana.

*4:45pm – Brown County Sheriff’s deputy responded to a report of a male subject leaning into traffic causing a traffic hazard at the city limits of May.  According to the report, the subject was found unconscious in a culvert when the deputy arrived.  The report states that the deputy called for medical assistance, and he was able to speak with the subject who said he was taking a nap after working out.  The deputy’s report states that he detected “a strong odor of alcohol” coming for the subject.   According to the report, first responders evaluated the subject identified at Robert Danner who was then arrested for public intoxication.

*7:35pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1300 block of Avenue J regarding a disoriented elderly male who was attempting to drive.  According to the report, officers spoke with several neighbors and adult protective services was contacted to conduct an evaluation.

*9:29pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 300 block of Bluffview regarding theft.  According to the report, the complainant stated that a relative had stolen a bottle of hydrocodone pills while visiting her apartment.  The complainant stated that there were approximately 60 tablets in the bottle at the time of the theft.

*10:115pm – Brownwood Police were called to the 400 block of 4th Street regarding an assault.  Police found that the assault occurred at a different address and the victim was bitten on the back during the assault.  Charges are pending.

*10:23pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 2400 block of US 377S regarding the burglary of a building.  According to the report, two storage units had been broken into.

*11:20pm-Brownwood Police received a report of a stolen bicycle in the 2300 block of Southside Drive.  According to the report, the green mountain bike was taken from a front yard between 10pm and 11pm this date.

Saturday, May 19

*12:24am-Brownwood Police took a report of criminal mischief to a vehicle in the 500 block of 8th Street.  According to the report, the complainant stated that between 11:00pm and midnight, someone had broken the back windshield of her car.  Nothing was taken from inside the car and no suspect information was available according to the report.

*1:08am – Brown County Sheriff’s office responded to a possible DWI on HWY 279 headed north from Brownwood.  The responding deputy made the traffic stop on the suspect vehicle along with TPWID State Park Officers.  The report states that the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were performed on the suspect.  The report states that Jacqueline Marie Sessions was arrested for driving while intoxicated and was charged with possession of marijuana <= 2 oz.

*3:23am-Brownwood Police made a traffic stop in the 600 block of Coleman for a white light visible from the rear of the vehicle.  According to the report, the driver, Justin Mason, was arrested for Driving While License Invalid with Previous Suspension.

*1:54pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1200 block of 1st Street regarding theft.  According to the report, the complainant stated that two digital cameras were stolen from his bedroom and that he believed that they were now located at two different pawn shops.  The pawn shops were checked and no cameras matching the description of the complainant’s cameras were located, the report states.  The investigation is pending.

*11:48pm-Brownwood Police were called to 401 W. Commerce, Wal-Mart, regarding an intoxicated male.  According to the report, the subject who was identified as Ronnie Patterson failed sobriety tests and was arrested for Public Intoxicated with Three Prior Convictions.

*Texas Parks and Wildlife Police arrested 25-year-old Curtis James Greene for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Sunday, May 20

*1:25am-Brownwood Police made a traffic stop in the 1200 block of Indian Creek Drive.  According to the report, the driver, Eric Thomas White, was found to be intoxicated and was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated and Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Grade 2A greater than 2 oz, less than 4 oz.  The driver submitted to a blood sample at Brownwood Regional Medical Center and then transported to the Brown County Jail.

*2:37am-Brownwood Police were called to the 1000 block of Coggin Avenue, Allsup’s, regarding disorderly conduct.  According to the report, an intoxicated female came into the store, knocking over displays and then began cursing at the clerk.  Ermelinda Sierra was arrested for Public Intoxication.

*6:03am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1800 block of Waco Street regarding criminal trespass.  According to the report, the unwanted subject, Chad Beasley, was found sleeping on the front porch of the residence.  Beasley was arrested for criminal trespass.

*10:28am – Brown County Sheriff’s deputy took a report of theft.  The complainant reported that someone stole a John Deere mailbox valued at $80.

*Brown County Sheriff’s deputy responded to a report of illegal trash dumping on County Road 367.   The report states that debris consisted of pieces of sheet rock and wood.  The Early Volunteer Fire Department personal removed the debris from the roadway and would later be removed from the area by Monday.

*10:34am-Brownwood Police made a traffic stop in the 1700 block of First Street for a signal violation.  According to the report, the passenger, Juan Zuniga was arrested for Possession of Marijuana less than 2 ounces and was issued a citation for an open container in a motor vehicle.

*11:29am-Brownwood Police were called to the area of Longhorn Drive and Mustang regarding found property.  According to the report, when the officer arrived, the complainant stated her vehicle had been keyed and damaged by her ex-boyfriend.  She also advised that several items were taken from her vehicle without her permission, the report states.

*12:39pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1900 block of Durham Avenue regarding theft.  According to the report, the officer spoke with three subjects who had been riding a bicycle around Coggin Park and then left it.  The subjects stated that they did not know who the bicycle belonged to and one stated that he had been riding the bicycle around the park and then they left it at the park.

*1:34pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 4200 block of US 377S regarding criminal mischief.  According to the report, the complainant stated that an unknown person cut the front driver’s side tire of her car between the hours of 8:00am and 1:30pm.

*1:25pm-Brownwood Police responded to a domestic disturbance in the 2300 block of Durham.  According to the report, the complainant stated she had been assaulted by her boyfriend, that he had pushed her down several times, struck her in the face and elbowed her.

*5:12pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 300 block of N. Main regarding an assault.  According to the report, the complainant advised her boyfriend had punched her in the nose over a money dispute.  The subject left the scene prior to officers’ arrival and was not able to be located.

*7:25pm – Brownwood Police were called to the 1200 block of Bailey street regarding criminal mischief.  Investigation showed minor keying damage to complainant’s vehicle.

*8:17pm – Brownwood police responded to the 2200 block of Elizabeth regarding a dog bite.  A female had been walking her small dog when a restrained dog broke its collar and ran after them.  The female was bitten once causing moderate injury, the police report states.  The dog was restrained by the owner and the female was taken by family to BRMC.

*9:34pm – Brownwood Police responded to a disturbance on the 2300 block of Durham.  Several female subjects were involved in an argument when the officer arrived.  The investigation was completed and the females were separated for the night.

Monday, May 21

*7:00amOfficer Brandon McMillian of the Early Police Department received a call of a reckless driver on Early Blvd.  Officer McMillian located the suspect vehicle and made a stop on a speeding violation, according to reports. When Officer McMillian ask the driver to step out of the vehicle he began attempting to hide something, the report states. Officer McMillian, who was then assisted by Deputy John Harper, had to force the driver to release something he was trying to hide from officers, according to the report. The item was a prescription pill bottle containing methamphetamine, the report states. The driver Douglas Wade Mitchell, who also showed signs of being under the influence was taken into custody, Early Police reports state. Mitchell was also taken  to the Brownwood Regional Medical Center ER for a mandatory blood draw for felony DWI. Mitchell was then taken to the Brown Co Jail and charged with possession of controlled substance and felony driving while intoxicated.

*Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2200 block of Coggin Avenue regarding the burglary of a habitation.  According to the report, the complainant stated that an unknown person entered her residence and stole a 24” television and a Blu-ray player.

All arrestees are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
