Law enforcement arrests and reports released Monday, May 2, 2011.
Thursday, April 28
*4:14pm-Brownwood Police met with a complainant who stated he was an employee of Murphy USA. According to the report, the complainant informed police of numerous gas thefts. A report was taken.
Friday, April 29
*8:00pm-Brownwood Police made a traffic stop in the 1600 block of Avenue K on a pick-up truck. According to the report, the officer made contact with the occupants, a 30-year-old male and a 23-year-old male. After further investigation, both subjects were issued citations for open containers in a motor vehicle.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 24-year-old Raul Jose Gonzalez of Abilene for Driving While License Invalid. During a traffic stop, Gonzalez was found to have an expired driver’s license and was placed under arrest the report states.
*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 32-year-old Joshua Mikel Aristondo of Santa Anna for Driving While Intoxicated/Open Container and Unlawful Carrying Weapon (Dagger).
Saturday, April 30
*4:15am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2600 block of US 377S, Sweet Oasis, regarding a customer who stole $49 from off of the counter. According to the report, the suspect was identified through a license plate; however no contact was made with the suspect at the time of the report.
*3:05pm-Brownwood Police responded to 1017 Austin Avenue, the Bike Peddler, regarding an intoxicated male who was harassing customers. According to the report, the complainant stated that the male, later identified as 56-year-old Paul George Challenger of Early, called his nephew vulgar names. The investigation led to the arrest of Challenger for Public Intoxication.
*3:56pm-A Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to a residence on Hightop Road. According to the report, the complainant stated that sometime between April 13th and April 30th, someone threw beer bottles at a box truck breaking its windshield and the driver’s side mirror. A suspect was named; however, no arrest had been made at the time of the report.
*6:00pm-Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy stopped a vehicle in the area of Hudson Lane on Hwy 183 South. The deputy identified the occupants as (driver) 29-year-old Thomas Jason Edmondson, 27-year-old Taryn Leigh Edmondson, 22-year-old Christopher Cody McDonough and 20-year-old Michelle Cooper of Chico, Texas. According to the report, as the deputy spoke with Thomas Edmondson, he admitted that his driver’s license was expired and that he did not have an insurance card. When the deputy asked if they had anything illegal in the vehicle, Edmondson answered no and then gave consent to search the car the report states. The deputy found marijuana blunt under the front passenger seat that was accessible from the right rear seat that was moist as if someone had been chewing on it, the report states. An Early Police officer came to assist the deputy and advised that he saw McDonough cough and something flew out of his mouth, but that he was unsure of what it was police reports state. When McDonough was asked about the marijuana, he stated he did not know anything about it and that “it’s not my car” according to police. The EPD officer overheard Taryn Edmondson ask Cooper and McDonough if they found the blunt according to the report. None of the occupants claimed to be the owner of the blunt; therefore all were charged with Possession of Marijuana. The driver, Thomas Edmondson, was additionally charged with Driving While License Invalid. McDonough was additionally charged with Tampering with Evidence due to the EPD officer’s observation of him cough on something, then seeing something fly from his mouth along with the blunt being visibly chewed and wet, the report states.
*6:39pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1200 block of Duke Street regarding harassment. According to the report, further investigation led to the belief a known male subject had violated the conditions of his protective order. A warrant will be sought for the suspect’s arrest the report states.
*8:21pm-Brownwood Police responded to the area of 3rd Street and Avenue I regarding public intoxication. Upon arrival, an officer observed a male in the 1800 block of Avenue I, identified as 51-year-old William Samuel McCoy. After investigation, McCoy was placed under arrest for Public Intoxication.
Sunday, May 1
*12:00-Brown County Sheriff’s deputy initiated a traffic stop for failure to dim headlights in the area of FM 2525 and FM 2126. According to the report, while speaking with the driver who was later identified as 18-year-old Skuler James Turpin of Graham, Texas, the deputy noticed a 30-pack of beer in the rear passenger seat of the vehicle. Turpin said that he was going to the HPU Barn Dance down FM 2525 the report states. The deputy received consented to search the suspect’s vehicle where he found a cigarette box with 86 white round pills with no markings were found in the center console, which weighed 28.3 grams the report states. Two white oblong pills which were identified as Hydrocodone pills, were also found and weighed 1.4 grams according to the report. Turpin stated that he had a prescription for the Hydrocodone but that he did not have the prescription on his person or in the vehicle according to police. In addition, the deputy also found 19 unopened beers in various places throughout the vehicle and one open beer in the driver door cup holder. Turpin was cited for Minor in Possession of Alcohol and Open Container, and then arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 3 less than 28 grams (a class A misdemeanor for the Hydrocodone. The other pills will need to be sent to the DPS crime lab to be identified the report states.
*6:20am-A Brownwood Police officer was at the Bank of America automatic teller machine at 101 Center Avenue and found a Bank of America bank card beside a trash can. According to the report, an attempt to contact the owner was made; however, the phone number listed in the BPD database was not a current number for the owner. The card was then placed into BPD evidence room as found property.
*9:37am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1700 block of Houston regarding burglary of a vehicle. According to the report, the complainant stated she had left her purse in her vehicle while she went into her place of employment. When she came back to the vehicle approximately 10 minutes later, the purse had been stolen the report states. The complainant did wish to pursue charges if a suspect can be identified.
*11:45am-Brownwood Police responded to an MHMR respite home where, police were told by dispatch that an employee was going to remove 33-year-old Stephen Daniel Davis of Gustine from the residence and that they were “expecting problems”. The investigation led to the arrest of Davis for Public Intoxication.
*2:42pm-Brownwood Police spoke with a complainant at BPD regarding losing his wallet in Wal-Mart. According to the report, the wallet contained several identification cards and credit cards. An informational report was taken.
*6:13pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2800 block of Southside regarding a window that had been damaged. According to the report, the complainant explained to the officer that damage to a window was caused by a pellet gun, possibly by juveniles in the area.
*6:47pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 2000 block of Slayden Street regarding harassment. According to the report, the complainant stated that her ex-boyfriend was harassing her and following her around. The complainant also stated that he had tried to kick open her front door on April 2nd, which is documented by another police report.
Monday, May 2
*12:10am-Brown County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the 300 block of Circle P Heights regarding a disturbance with both parties armed with weapons. According to the report, the female half was very angry and agitated. Throughout the investigation, the female, identified as Johnnie Paulette Shipp was found to be the primary aggressor and was placed under arrest for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon Family Violence in order to prevent any further acts of violence, the report states. The knife used during the assault was seized and placed into evidence at the BCSO. The male half left the residence unharmed.
All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
