Law enforcement arrests and reports released Tuesday and Wednesday, May 17-18, 2016
Friday, May 13
*4:29 PM – Brown County Sheriff’s deputies assisted Child Protective Services with the removal of a child from a father’s custody. According to the report, the father, became physically aggressive, resistant and threatening toward deputies, CPS and other family members. When detained, the father, identified as 35-year-old Lucas Lanier of Cross Plains, caused a deputy to receive a minor injury, the report states. Lanier was arrested and charged with interfering with public duties, resisting arrest and assault on a public servant, the report states. The child was turned over to CPS, according to law enforcement.
Saturday, May 14
*A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to the Early Once Source Clinic in reference to a subject who had an animal bite. According to the report, the victim reported he had been bitten on May 13th by a stray cat, which his mother had taken in, on his right and left hand. The male was advised to quarantine the cat away from people and other animals for 10 days and that BCSO would follow up on it.
Sunday, May 15
*10:43 AM – Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report of the burglary of a storage building in May, Texas.
*12:25 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy responded to the report of the burglary of a vehicle. According to the report, a stereo had been stolen from a vehicle that the complainant had for sale.
*A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a residence near Lake Brownwood regarding the burglary of a building. According to the report, the complainant stated that someone had taken several tools from his unlocked storage shed without his permission.
Monday, May 16
*4:39 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was called to a residence near Lake Brownwood regarding the attempted theft of a dirt bike valued at $2500-3000. According to the report, a suspect was detained by a neighbor and the owner of the property wished to pursue charges for the attempted theft, the report states.
*6:25 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2300 block of Dickman Drive regarding an assault. An investigation is ongoing, the report states.
*8:35 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1100 block of 8th Street regarding an assault. As a result of this call, 45-year-old James Earl Foster of Brownwood was arrested for assault causes bodily injury family violence.
*10:32 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1800 block of Calvert Road regarding an assault.
*A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy made a traffic stop on a vehicle in May, Texas. According to the report, during a consent search, a glass methamphetamine pipe and a straw containing residue were discovered. The driver, identified as 33-year-old Danielle Marie Rawls of Brownwood was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 less than 1 gram.
*45-year-old Jeffery Wayne Bennie of Brownwood turned himself in on a warrant related to theft of metals.
*Brownwood Police arrested 31-year-old Robert Salinas Diaz of Brownwood on a warrant related to motion to adjudicated/assault causes bodily injury.
Tuesday, May 17
*1:26 AM – Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report of harassment via threatening text messages from a complainant who had recently moved out of her boyfriend’s home.
*1:48 AM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 700 block of W. Commerce regarding the burglary of a building. According to the report, dispatch advised a that male subject was seen breaking into the business. Officers arrived and located the male who was held at gunpoint after exiting the store. The male, identified as 33-year-old Michael Joe Somerville of Brownwood, was found to have no weapons; however, he did have stolen merchandise on his person, the report states. Items stolen during the burglary included a ring, novelty cards, stamps, a pocket watch and a stereo, the report states. Somerville was arrested and charged with burglary of a building.
*10:33 AM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1700 block of Magnolia Street regarding the theft of medication. According to the report, a suspect was identified in a prescription fraud case.
*14:38 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a residence just outside of Early, Texas regarding a domestic dispute involving a weapon. According to the report, a male subject, identified as 43-year-old Bobby Cantu of Early, became upset with a female relative who had come to visit his home and tried to hit her with some pruning shears, the report states. The female was eventually able to seek refuge in her vehicle; however, Cantu began hitting the car, leaving indentions and gouges in the car before the roommate was able to get the tool away from Cantu and before the officers arrived, according to the report. During the incident, Cantu’s male roommate attempted to get the shears away from him and was hit in the right side of the head, the report states. Cantu was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault date/family/house member with weapon.
*2:53 PM – Brownwood Police were called to a roadside park in the 500 block of E. Commerce Street regarding a medical emergency. According to the report, the male was “down” with unknown circumstances. Officers arrived on scene to find EMS and fire rescue loading the male subject for transport to the emergency room, the report states. The male was known to police for being a homeless individual who often stays in this park, according to the officer’s report. When officers asked the male if he knew what happened, he answered that he did not, according to the report. An investigation led to the male subject being named as the suspect for an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to police.
*4:39 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 200 block of W. Commerce regarding theft. According to the report, a female subject stated that someone had stolen $110.00 cash at the business which belonged to her.
*5:10 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1500 block of 3rd Street regarding a male subject being in a residence without permission. According to the report, the male, identified as 56-year-old James Clement Dunn of Brownwood, was arrested for criminal trespass of a habitation and on an active warrant for failure to appear/criminal trespass.
*7:03 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 700 block of Almond Street regarding criminal mischief. According to the report, the investigation is ongoing.
*11:12 PM – Brownwood Police made a traffic stop in the 500 block of Maple Street. According to the report, this call resulted in 33-year-old Aaron David Keel of Tree Port, Texas being arrested for possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces in a drug free zone, possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1, less than 1 gram in a drug free zone, tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, and theft of property less than $2500 with 2 or more previous convictions of theft.
*A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was called to Blanket ISD regarding a burglary. According to the report, the complainant stated that an unknown suspect(s) entered the old school through the basement, causing damage to doors and had stolen items from the janitor’s room.
*3:04 PM – A Brown County sheriff’s deputy received a report of theft from a residence at north Lake Brownwood. According to the report, the complainant stated that she had given a tour of her home to an acquaintance and later found a ring to be missing. A suspect was identified, the report states.
*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 22-year-old Abelardo Cortez, Jr. of Austin for possession of a controlled substance penalty group 2 equal or greater than 4 grams less than 400 grams.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 53-year-old Donald Augustus Pressley of DeSoto, Texas on warrants related to motion to revoke/violation of a protective order, motion to revoke/criminal trespass, failure to appear violate protective order and failure to appear/criminal trespass.
Wednesday, May 18
*12:26 AM – Brownwood Police made a traffic stop in the 1100 block of Belle Plain. According to the report, during the stop, the driver of the vehicle was found to be intoxicated. The driver, identified as 23-year-old John Ivy, Jr. of Brownwood was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
