Friday, May 15
*10:00 AM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1600 block of Calvert, the Brownwood Middle School, regarding a student found with marijuana. According to the report, the student was handled administratively as well as criminally.
*11:27 AM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1900 block of Vincent regarding the theft of a dog. According to the report, there are no suspects at this time.
*11:57 AM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy made a traffic stop on US Hwy 183 North near County Road 417 regarding no front license plate. According to the report, the driver, identified as 19-year-old Marquis Dorron Warford of San Antonio, surrendered an orange bong with marijuana residue from his car. Warford was found to have a suspended driver’s license and was arrested for the offenses of possession or delivery of drug paraphernalia and driving while license invalid.
*2:51 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 2000 block of Brady Avenue regarding a civil matter. According to the report, allegations of family violence were made.
*6:16 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to an incident of disorderly conduct in the 300 block of Center Avenue. According to the report, the complainant stated that 23-year-old John Ingram of Brownwood had threatened her with shards of glass. Ingram was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest search or transport, the report states.
*Brownwood Police arrested 38-year-old Caren Vera of Brownwood for disorderly conduct.Saturday, May 16
*1:51 AM – Brownwood Police made a traffic stop in the 1600 block of Melwood. This stop led to the arrest of 33-year-old Matthew Rodriguez of Brownwood for driving while intoxicated 3rd.
*7:51 AM – Brownwood Police were called to the 100 block of Market Place Blvd. regarding the burglaries of two vehicles.
*1:01 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1200 block of Avenue H regarding possible drug use. According to the report, the officer walked the alley where the drug use was alleged to have been occurring. This call led to the arrest of 31-year-old Jose Angel Lopez and his brother 19-year-old Elios M. Lopez, both of Brownwood, for possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces.
*4:13 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1400 block of Austin Avenue regarding a hit and run. According to the report, the complainant’s vehicle had been struck on the right front bumper.
*6:20 PM – Brownwood Police received a report via telephone regarding ID theft. According to the report, the complainant stated that someone was using their identity to open new phone lines on the complainant’s AT&T phone account.
Sunday, May 17
*12:33 AM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 500 block of E. Baker Street regarding an assault. According to the report, the complainant stated he was assaulted by two unknown people.
*7:00 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 2700 block of Austin Avenue regarding a possible incident of driving under the influence. This call led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 28-year-old Chadly Dewayne Musick of May, for driving while intoxicated 2nd.
*7:50 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy responded to a business located on County Road 270 in Zephyr regarding the burglary of a building. According to the report, at least three socket driver sets and a leaf blower had been stolen from a shop on the property. The missing property was estimated to be worth between $8,000 and $10,000 total, the report states.
*10:58 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1100 block of Santa Clara regarding an assault. According to the report, suspects were identified and the incident was documented.
*Brownwood Police arrested 39-year-old Shiela Gipson of Brownwood on warrants related to four counts of parent contribute to nonattendance.
*Brownwood Police arrested 30-year-old Lawrence Darnell Harling of Brownwood on warrants related to child support (Hale County) and a parole violation.
Monday, May 18
*2:21 AM – Brownwood Police were called to the 200 block of W. Commerce regarding an assault. According to the report, a worker had been assaulted by his employer to the point of unconsciousness. The victim stated that he and his boss had been doing some repairs inside the restaurant and had gotten into an argument that turned physical, according to the report. A witness confirmed the victim’s account that his boss, identified as 50-year-old Paul Koelsch of Red Oak, Texas, had grabbed the victim by the neck and pushed him up against the wall, holding him there until he passed out, the report states. When the victim regained consciousness, he went outside and called police, according to the report. The victim stated that he just wanted to be paid for the work he had done and to be able to quit his job; however, he later decided to press charges against Koelsch for the assault. Koelsch told police that his way of teaching is boisterous, and that during the physical confrontation he stated he was defending himself when he grabbed the victim and subdued him, the report states. Koelsch paid the victim and was then arrested, charged with assault causes bodily injury, the report states.
