Sunday, April 1

*9:08pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1800 block of Avenue D regarding a burglary.  According to the report, the complainant stated someone entered his apartment and stole his Playstation 3.

Tuesday, April 3

*12:39pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 400 block of Fisk Avenue, TexasBank, regarding fraud.   According to the report, during an investigation it was learned that someone was using another person’s identifying information to conduct transactions on a bank account.  No arrests were made at the time of the report.

*3:07pm-Brownwood Police received a report of a stolen vehicle.  According to the report, after an investigation into the possible theft over a couple of days, the complainant decided to report the vehicle as stolen.

Wednesday, April 4

*10:24am-Brownwood Police were called to the 1200 block of Austin Avenue, American State Bank, regarding fraud.  According to the report, a bank employee stated that just before 5pm Tuesday, a male subject went to the bank drive through and attempted to cash a fraudulent money order.  Investigation led to a suspect being named, the report states.  No arrest had been made at the time of the report.

*1:58pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1800 block of 6th Street regarding a burglary of a habitation.  According to the report, the complainant stated that between April 2nd at 6pm and April 4th at 2:00pm, someone stole a dryer valued at $150 out of the vacant home.  The complainant stated that the doors to the home were unlocked at the time of the burglary, the report states.

*7:35pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 3200 block of Durham Avenue regarding theft.  According to the report, the complainant stated that items had been taken from his backyard.  The complainant stated that he only wanted the items returned and did not wish to pursue criminal charges against the suspects, the report states.  During the course of the investigation, the complainant stated that he had fired a .22 short at the suspects, according to police.  At the time of the report, the suspects have not contacted police to report any criminal offense.  One spent .22 short cartridge was recovered and placed into the evidence room, the report states.

Thursday, April 5

*5:59am-Brownwood Police received a report at the law enforcement center regarding allegations that a complainant’s father tried to run him over with a vehicle.  A suspect was named; however, no arrest was made at the time of the report, according to police.

*1:07pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 2400 block of Crockett Drive, to the Child Protective Services office, regarding a runaway juvenile.  According to the report, the call led to the arrest of 20-year-old George Granato for Harboring a Runaway.

*6:53pm-Brownwood Police were called to the area of Maple and Waco Streets regarding a traffic hazard.  According to the report, the complainant stated that a known subject swerved his vehicle at the complainant’s vehicle, causing two wooden pallets to fall out of the bed the subject’s truck, landing on the roadway of the 400 block of Maple Street.

*8:11pm-Brownwood Police responded to an animal complaint in the 700 block of Almond Street.  According to the report, the complainant stated that she had been walking her dog near the used car lot and car wash on W. Austin Avenue.  The complainant stated that her dog was on a leash when another dog attacked her dog, causing it injury.

*9:01pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 2400 block of Songbird Circle regarding theft.  According to the report, the complainant stated that someone stole her wrist watch.

*10:03pm-Brownwood Police were called to a residence on 14th Street regarding drugs/narcotics.  According to the report, the caller stated she witnessed another female sell prescription pain pills to another person earlier this evening.

Friday, April 6

*12:05am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1500 block of Terrace Drive regarding theft.  According to the report, the complainant stated that someone stole her book bag containing her laptop computer, digital camera, two text books and a miscellaneous paperwork.

*9:58am-Brownwood Police were called to the 500 block of China Street regarding an assault.  According to the report, the complainant stated she was assaulted by 30-year-old Jason Scott Coffey while at a residence in the 1200 block of Duke Street.  Contact was made with Coffey who was later arrested for Assault with Injury Family Violence.

*7:09pm-Brownwood Police responded to a disturbance in the 4300 block of Woodland Park.  According to the report, the complainant stated that she had been slapped by her son after an argument.  The juvenile was identified and at the request of the complainant the juvenile was allowed to remain at the residence, the report states.  No arrest was made at the time of the report.

*8:06pm-Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a woman who had been threatened and dumped at a local park.  According to the report, when the deputy arrived to speak with the woman, she didn’t appear to be upset, but stated that she had hitched a ride with a stranger, who stated he would give her a ride from the Exxon station that serves as a bus stop to Wal-Mart; however, he took her to a park out in the county, instructed her to get him some drugs and then threatened her with a knife.  She stated that she was able to get away from the man and run to a group that was camping at the park, the report states.  The female did not wish to pursue charges against the subject, that she just wanted a ride back to town, the report states.

Saturday, April 7

*12:03am-A Brownwood Police officer made a traffic stop in the 1000 block of Avenue C.  According to the report, the driver, 30-year-old Elizabeth Ann Malone was driving with a suspended license and was placed under arrest for Driving While License Suspended/Surcharge Due.

*5:32am-Brownwood Police were called to the 2000 block of Belmeade regarding theft.  According to the report, the complainant stated that her wallet had been stolen out of her purse while she was sleeping.  A possible suspect was determined and an investigation is ongoing, the report states.

*10:07am-Brownwood police were dispatched to the 1300 block of 13th Street regarding a stolen vehicle that had possibly been found.  The vehicle, which belonged to the complainant, had been stolen during the night.  According to the report, the keys were still in the ignition and no damage to the vehicle was found.  No property belonging to the thief or evidence was located inside the vehicle, the report states.  Information was obtained on the vehicle and it was learned that three firearms were also inside the vehicle when the theft occurred according to the report.  The vehicle was released to its proper owner.

*11:10am-Brownwood Police were called to the 1800 block of Slayden Street regarding the burglary of a vehicle.  According to the report, two vehicles were found to be broken into during the night.  Another vehicle was reported burglarized at 3:21pm this same day.

*2:16pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2100 block of 7th Street regarding found property.  According to the report, the caller found a bicycle laying in her yard.  The bicycle was secured in the Brownwood Police Department impound for safe keeping until it can be properly identified and claimed by its owner.

*2:49pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1300 block of Brooks Avenue regarding a suicide attempt.  According to the report, the subject was taken to the hospital for treatment.  Investigation determined that she had been assaulted by her boyfriend, 41-year-old Charles Edward Johnson.  Johnson was arrested for Aggravated Assault Family Violence with a Deadly Weapon.  Johnson was being held in lieu of $50,000 bond as of Monday morning.

*4:10pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 2000 block of Slayden regarding theft.  According to the report, the complainant stated that two bicycles were stolen off her front porch area.  One of the bicycles belonged to her son and the other belonged to a friend.

*5:00pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1600 block of 8th Street regarding an assault.  According to the report, a male subject was assaulted at the residence and a suspect was identified.  No arrest was made at the time of the report.

*7:31pm-Brownwood Police made a traffic stop in the 300 block of Gill Street.  29-year-old Brooke Cherie Smith was found to have a suspended driver’s license and was placed under arrest for Driving While License Invalid/Mandatory Suspension, according to police reports.

*9:01pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to Wal-Mart regarding theft.  According to the report, 17-year-old Joseph Edward Wheat was detained for theft.  Investigation revealed that Wheat had stolen several items, including two Xbox games and an Xbox Play and Charge Kit which totaled over $50 and had in his possession two prohibited weapons, a switchblade knife and metal knuckles, reports state.  Wheat was arrested for Theft $50-$500 and Possession of Prohibited Weapon

*10:04pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 300 block of Greenleaf regarding an assault.    According to the report, after the suspect confessed to the assault, he tried running away to keep from being arrested.  The subject, 20-year-old Adam Iziah Castillo, fled on a bicycle but was located in the 1300 block of parkway, was caught and fought the officer’s attempt to get him handcuffed, reports state.   Castillo was charged with Assault with Injury Family Violence, Theft and Resisting Arrest.

Sunday, April 8

*1:21am-A Brownwood Police officer made a traffic stop in the 1200 block of 6th Street.  According to the report, the driver, 44-year-old Franky Gonzalez was determined to be intoxicated and was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated and Possession of a Dangerous Drug.  Gonzalez submitted to a voluntary blood draw.

*6:18pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1600 block of Belle Plain Street regarding criminal mischief.  According to the report, the complainant stated that she saw her ex-boyfriend break three windows out of her pickup with a baseball bat.  The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending, and the damage was estimated at $600.00.

*6:34pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to a hit and run accident where a vehicle hit a telephone pole on Durham Avenue.  According to the report, a suspect vehicle was located in the 200 block of W. Austin Avenue, at the Skinny’s convenience store.   The female driver, stated that she had been involved in a domestic disturbance with her boyfriend at a residence near the accident site and that the argument that it had turned physical, the report states.  The female stated that her boyfriend, 50-year-old Rider Thomas Yarbrough had grabbed her hair, struck her several times on the back of her head and had attempted to hit her with a baseball bat as she was trying to leave the residence in the Jeep, according to the report.  She stated that she was able to pull away, but struck the telephone pole as she sped away.

Although visible injuries were present, the woman refused medical treatment, the report states.

The female was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana.  Due to the driver being a victim of family violence and possible strangulation, she was issued a citation for the paraphernalia.  A warrant will be issued for the possession of marijuana.

Witnesses at the residence on Durham Avenue stated they heard the argument but did not see all of the assault.  Officers spoke to Yarbrough who had no visible injuries and was determined to be the aggressor.  Yarbrough was arrested, charged with Assault Family Violence by Strangulation, reports state.

*9:56pm-A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle on Hwy 279 for no license plate lamp.  The driver, identified as Lellia Mae McClain, advised the deputy that she had warrants for traffic offenses in Brown County and that she did not have a driver’s license.  A consent search of the vehicle revealed 5 pieces of identifying information for other individuals, prescription drugs including Lidocaine and Cephalexin and drug paraphernalia.  According to the report, McClain admitted that the vial of Lidocaine was stolen by her from the Coleman emergency room during a visit to that facility.  Other items were found and test results are pending, the report states. McClain was arrested for Fraudulent Use or Possession of Identifying Information, Possession of a Dangerous Drug and Possession of Drug Paraphenalia.  McClain was also issued a citation for No Driver’s License and a written warning for No License Plate Light.

*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 56-year-old David Henry Bivins for Driving While Intoxicated and Evading Arrest.

*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 29-year-old Cody Jetton Petty of Santa Anna for Driving While Intoxicated 1st.

Monday, April 9

*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 21-year-old Julia Dawn Ashcraft of Killeen for Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Grade 3 Less than 28 grams, Possession of a Dangerous Drug, and Possession of Marijuana less than 2 oz.

*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 42-year-old Alan John Fleming  for Driving While Intoxicated 3rd.

*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 36-year-old Benny Jacob Martinez for Driving While License Invalid, Failure to Identify Fugitive and a warrant out of Travis County.

All arrestees are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
