Law enforcement arrests and reports released Monday, April 25, 2011.
Wednesday, April 13
*2:50am-Brownwood Police report that a 16-year-old male escaped from the Brownwood Juvenile Detention Center located at 1400 Houston Street. After speaking with the JDC staff member who was present during the escape and gathering the details of the incident, a warrant for the escape is sought for the juvenile male the report states.
Wednesday, April 20
*9:10am-Brownwood Police responded to the 2000 block of Elizabeth Drive regarding found property. According to the report, the complainant had discovered a backpack in the backyard of a vacant home next door to their residence. When the officer arrived at the location, he was unable to contact the complainant or find any contact information for the owner of the backpack the report states. The backpack contained several items including tennis shoes, a Bible, a portable CD player, two bottles of cologne, batteries, a pair of blue jeans, t-shirts, a baseball cap, toiletries and various other items. The backpack was taken to BPD where it was secured in evidence until an owner can be identified and the property returned.*10:47am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 600 block of Fisk Avenue regarding theft of medication. According to the report, the complainant named a suspect who allegedly stole the medication.
*11:25am-Brownwood Police met with a complainant and employee of Rent-A-Center, at 301 E. Commerce regarding hindering a secured creditor. According to the report, the complainant stated that a customer had quit making payments on merchandise and provided evidence that the customer had received a certified letter demanding the property be returned. An investigation is ongoing.
*11:30am-While doing a follow up on a previous theft of medication case, a Brownwood Police officer observed the suspect, 21-year-old Gary Vimmer, riding a bicycle in the 1000 block of Duke Street. According to police reports, Vimmer was found to be in possession of 51 prescription pills and placed under arrest for Possession of a Dangerous Drug.
*12:28pm-Brownwood Police met with a complainant at BPD regarding forgery. According to the report, the complainant stated that someone had forged checks on the company account. Evidence has been provided and the investigation is ongoing.
Thursday, April 21
*10:30am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to Woodland Heights Elementary in reference to suspicious circumstances. According to the report, the officer made contact with the suspicious person, identified as 27-year-old Taryn Leigh Edmondson. The investigation led to the arrest of Edmondson for the Possession of Marijuana less than 2 oz in a Drug Free Zone.
*4:25pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 300 block of Bluffview regarding the theft of a bicycle. The bicycle frame was recovered but both tires were stolen. No suspect information was available at the time of the report.
*6:12pm-Brownwood Police were called to a medical emergency in the 600 block of N. Fisk. According to the report, Brownwood Fire Department paramedics were already on scene and were treating a young female who had fallen from a bike and sustained injuries. Guardian EMS also arrived on scene. The officer spoke with two witnesses who reported that the girl had scooted over closer to the curb to allow a car to pass when she struck a water valve that was sticking up in the roadway and caused her to lose her balance the report states. As the girl fell, she struck her head on the concrete curb losing consciousness and she also stopped breathing according to the report. The girl was transported by ambulance to the Brownwood Regional Medical Center emergency room for further assessment and treatment.
*7:40pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 800 block of Burkett Street regarding a theft. According to the report, the complainant stated that an electric meter and the meter box were damaged at the rent house. The complainant named a possible suspect that was a former tenant.
*9:23pm-Brownwood Police received information that a male was intoxicated at Gordon Wood Stadium. According to the report, the officer made contact with the male who was determined to be intoxicated. The male was released to a sober relative the report states.
*10:18pm-Brownwood Police met with a complainant at the Law Enforcement Center regarding harassment. According to the report, the complainant named two suspects who he advised were harassing him and his roommate. A report was filed at the complainant’s request.
*Brownwood City Marshal arrested 42-year-old Chad William Beasley for Public Intoxication.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 45-year-old Jimmy Damon Canada for Assault Family Violence.
Friday, April 22
*1:04am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to 1500 Terrace Drive in reference to an assault. According to the report, the officer met with a female complainant who reported that as she left from playing bingo, she was assaulted by another female who had scratched her forehead. The officer then made contact with the named suspect who said she had been working all night and had not seen the complainant. According to police, the suspect stated that she had talked to the complainant over the phone. The suspect advised the complainant called and said she was drinking alcoholic beverages with the suspect’s husband the report states. The suspect stated that she did become angry, but that she did not assault the complainant according to police.
*6:30pm-Brownwood police were called to the 1000 block of Avenue C regarding an assault. A suspect has been identified the report states. The investigation continues.
*8:08pm-Brownwood Police responded in reference to an unwanted subject attempting to make narcotics transactions at a residence in the 2300 block of Austin Avenue. The subject could not be located; however, an informational report was filed.
*10:52pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to Gomez Restaurant regarding disorderly conduct. According to the report, as the officer entered the restaurant an individual told him that someone had dropped a CD player as they left the business. The officer took possession of the CD player and placed it as found property at BPD.
*11:40pm-While on patrol in the 1300 block of Durham Avenue , a Brownwood police officer noticed two males walking in the center of the road when a sidewalk was available along the roadway. According to the report, a pedestrian stop was conducted on both males. Both subjects stated that they were just walking home from the Allsup’s convenience store where one of them had purchased a few things, including a cigar the report states. Knowing that often cigars are purchased and then the tobacco is removed and replaced with other harmful smoking materials, the officer questioned the men about the cigar and then asked for consent to search their persons according to the report. One of men was searched without incident and nothing illegal was found. The subject identified as Joshua Chamblee was searched and a blue smoking pipe with an odor of marijuana and marijuana reside was found in the male’s pocket according to police. Because Chamblee tried to free himself during the search, the officer began to put handcuffs on Chamblee, and the suspect pushed the officer and then fled on foot the report states. The officer shot his taster at Chamblee but missed according to police. The other male was cuffed and was later released at the scene. The officer called for assistance as a foot pursuit of Chamblee was begun; however Chamblee was not apprehended. A warrant is currently sought for Chamblee’s arrest for Assault on a Public Servant, Evading Arrest or Detention, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a case of possible child abandonment/endangerment which was discovered upon the arrest of 37-year-old Frederick Aaron Axt of May. A report of a reckless driver came in on Friday and deputies located the suspect vehicle parked at a residence. Officials state that inside the vehicle was the intoxicated driver, identified as Axt while inside the residence were two small children ages 2 and 4 who were unsupervised. Sheriff’s officials state that Axt was driving while intoxicated while the children were left alone in what a BCSO deputy reported as “a house riddled with knives and sharp tools and pills.”
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 24-year-old Mark Anthony Rivera for Burglary of a Habitation after making a traffic stop on Friday. Rivera was a person of interest in the burglary earlier in the week of the 5R Ranch in which a television was stolen. When Rivera was arrested, the television was found to be in the back of his pick-up according to officials. Deputies report that other stolen items were recovered at a local pawn shop where it is believed Rivera was taking the television. The burglary is under investigation and a full report is pending.
Saturday, April 23
*6:36am-Brownwood Police were called to the 3500 block of 2nd Street regarding criminal mischief. Officials are investigating as Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
*10:29am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 100 block of Bowie Circle in reference to the theft of an air conditioning unit.
*1:15pm- Brownwood Police took a report of a vehicle that had been stolen from the 900 block of Melwood. According to the owner, a man was supposed to be doing some repair work to the vehicle, but drove away in it without stating where he was going the report states. After about three hours, the owner became suspicious and made the report. Details were obtained regarding the suspect and the investigation is ongoing.
*5:51pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the BRMC emergency room in regard MHMR needing assistance with 33-year-old Stephen Daniel Davis who was disrupting the emergency room. The call led to the arrest of Davis for Disorderly Conduct Loud/Profane Language and Resisting Transport.
Sunday, April 24
*12:12am-A Brownwood Police officer, while on patrol in the 1800 block of 2nd Street, observed a parked pick-up with the driver’s side front window broken out. According to the report, there was paint transfer on the window which was consistent with the window being struck by a painted object. The owner was contacted. At the time of the report, there were no suspects. A report for criminal mischief was made.
*4:51am-A Brownwood Police officer, while on patrol in the 600 block of N. Center Avenue, noticed a vehicle swerving and crossing traffic lanes, then run a red light. Sobriety tests were performed and the driver, identified as 23-year-old Jonathan Michael McCombs who was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated the report states.
*7:20am-Brownwood Police were called to the 1500 block of Davis Lane regarding the burglary of a vehicle. According to the report, the complainant stated that a speaker and a speaker box were stolen from his pick-up during the night. Criminal charges are being filed and pursued.
*2:54pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the Law Enforcement Center in reference to an assault that was reported. Further information provided led to the investigation of Assault Causing Bodily Injury.
*6:21pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 900 block of Lillie Kimball regarding an unwanted person. According to the report, the complainant advised that a named suspect came to his residence and began beating on his door and windows. The complainant advised that he did not want the subject on his property and wished for a trespass warning to be issued to the subject. The warning was issued to the subject as requested.
*9:00pm-A Brownwood Police officer was dispatched to a domestic disturbance in the 1200 block of Avenue G. After an investigation, the aggressive party identified as 24-year-old Jina McClain was arrested and charged with Assault with Injury Family Violence according to reports.
*9:33pm-Brownwood Police responded to the 200 block of E. Commerce in reference to a hit and run accident. At the time of the report, a suspect had not been identified in this incident.
*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 25-year-old Brandon Nicholas Martinez for Possession of Marijuana less than 2 oz and an outstanding warrant from Travis County.
Monday, April 25
*1:50am-A Brownwood Police officer was patrolling north in the 400 block of E. Lee when he observed a vehicle parked at the corner of E. Lee and Melwood. According to the report, the vehicle was noticed to be occupied by two subjects and was not parked at a residence, which the officer found to be suspicious. The stop eventually led to the arrest of 37-year-old Troy James Cornett of Early and 44-year-old Lori Macdougall for Public Intoxication
All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
