The Early Police Department, Brownwood Police Department and the Brown County Sheriff’s Office executed a search and arrest warrant at a home in the 900 block of Roanoke Street in Brownwood around 1am Wednesday morning.  Early Police Officers received information regarding the possibility of drugs being sold at the location the day before, according to Early Police Chief David Mercer.  This information combined with information collected by the Brownwood PD and BCSO prompted the warrant execution.

Officers arrested Maribel Mireles Mascorro, Roy Lee Ortega, Monica Rene Ortega Sanford and Manuel Gomez, III at the house. Mercer said that methamphetamine was found in the house along with packaging material, scales, and drug writing.

After questioning the individuals, Mascorro who is pregnant, admitted to smoking methamphetamine earlier that day, Mercer said.  Officers report that they also located a canister of CS gas in the residence which could have been serious safety threat to residents in the area.

“The house is located across from the East Elementary which is a drug free zone but also posed a great threat to the safety of the kids with the amount of drug transactions that have been occurring at the residence,” Mercer said in a press release.

All four were charged with Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Grade 1 equal or less than 1g Drug Free Zone. Gomez received an additional charge of Prohibited Weapon.
