GuevaraOrlandoBrown County Sheriff’s Investigator Carlisle Gover observed a vehicle fail to make a complete stop at the intersection of Washington and Vine Streets at approximately 5:45pm on Friday, April 8th.  After the vehicle was pulled over, the driver was identified as 21-year-old Orlando Elezar Guevara of Early.

Sheriff reports state that Guevara was acting nervous and when questioned, he stated that he was on probation and may have a traffic warrant.  Investigator Gover noted in the report that when he went back to his vehicle, Guevara began looking down in a suspicious manner.  Gover returned and asked what he was doing and noticed that Guevara had a brown liquid on his right hand.  There was also a soft drink cup with the lid off that had something floating in it.  Guevara was removed from the car and handcuffed.

After retrieving the soft drink cup, a cellophane cigarette wrapper with marijuana in it was floating on the top of the drink the report states.  Gover reported that Guevara pleaded with him not to take him to jail.  “He offered money or whatever I wanted”, Gover stated in the report.  When Gover questioned Guevara about the bribe, he explained that he did not want to go to jail the report states.

Guevara was arrested and charged with Bribery (a 2nd Degree Felony); Tampering with Evidence (a 3rd Degree Felony); and Possession of Marijuana less than 2 oz. (a Class B Misdemeanor).

*1:51pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1500 block of Center, Higginbotham’s Hardware, regarding a hit and run.  According to the report, witnesses told officers that an older male driving a flatbed pickup had backed into another vehicle and drove off.  Charges are being pursued and officers are attempting to locate the suspect vehicle.

Wednesday, April 7

*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 31-year-old Katharine Marisa Durand Lewis for Manufacture Delivery of Controlled Substance, Penalty Grade 1, less than 1g.

*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 29-year-old Colin David Matthews for Manufacture Delivery of Controlled Substance, Penalty Grade 1, less than 1g and for an outstanding parole warrant.

Friday, April 8

*9:21am-Brownwood Police were called to the 1000 block of Cordell regarding the burglary of a vehicle.  The investigation is ongoing.

*11:48am- Brownwood Police issued a Criminal Trespass Warning to a subject for an address in the 600 block of Coggin Avenue.  According to the report, a complainant came in on April 4th but officers were unable to locate the suspect at that time.

*4:46pm-Brownwood Police responded to a call of an unwanted person in the 2800 block of Southside Drive.  The complainant advised dispatch that the subject had left the property; however officers were able to locate him and issued a criminal trespass warning per the complainant’s request according to the police reports.

*7:54pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 100 block of Bowie Circle regarding a terroristic threat.  According to police reports, the complainant wished for her ex-husband to be issued at criminal trespass warning for her residence.  Upon receiving the trespass warning, he also wished for the complainant, his ex-wife, to be issued a criminal trespass warning for his address in the 1600 block of Avenue E the report states.

*7:57pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1600 block of Waco regarding Public Intoxication.  This call led to the arrest of 42-year-old Chad William Beasley for Public Intoxication.

*8:08pm-A Brownwood Police officer was dispatched to the Law Enforcement Center to speak with a complainant regarding terroristic threat.

*10:28pm-A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a residence at Spring Lake West. According to the report, the complainant stated that her son’s girlfriend had been calling and harassing her.  The girlfriend was called by BCSO on the complainant’s phone and told not to contact the complainant anymore by phone or text and to have no further contact with the complainant.  At the complainant’s request, she was also issued a trespass warning for the complainant’s address.

*10:50pm-Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report in reference to criminal mischief and stolen property from a property on CR 153 in Bangs.  The complainant reported that someone had cut the fence on his property and stole some metal that was under a carport along with a white metal bathtub and many other metal pieces.  The deputy followed up at Brownwood Iron and Metal Company where a witness identified a suspect who had brought the items in and sold them the report states.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 19-year-old Jose Ramirez of Brady for Public Intoxication.

*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 21-year-old Angela Salazar for Possession of Marijuana less than 2 oz and for four outstanding warrants from Early.

*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 29-year-old Ysidra Andrea Salazar for Possession of Marijuana less than 2 oz.

Saturday, April 9

* Early Chief of Police David Mercer reported a buy-bust operation that resulted in the arrest of 38-year-old Anthony James Garcia, Sr.

Early Police Sgt. Shawn Dibrell and EPD Officer Stephanie Haile received information regarding individual selling marijuana in the Early and Brownwood area.  Mercer said that arrangements were made with the suspect to deliver marijuana to an individual he thought he had dealt with before but was an officer instead.  Garcia stated that his car was broken down so he asked the individuals (the officers) to meet him at a store near Main and Austin in Brownwood the report states.

EPD Sgt. Dibrell met with Sgt. Sheedy and Officer Willey, both with Brownwood Police Department and discussed a plan for a buy-bust operation to arrest Garcia. Just prior to the arrest, the officers learned that Garcia was becoming nervous about doing the deal according to Mercer.

The officers located Garcia walking in a neighborhood a few blocks from the meeting location. Mercer said that Garcia attempted to run into his residence but was stopped by officers. Officers located Marijuana, Oxycontin Pills and another unidentified pill.

Garcia was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana Equal or Less than 2 oz in Drug Free Zone, Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Grade 1 less than 1g in Drug Free Zone and Possession of Dangerous Drug.  Garcia was being held on a total of $21,000 bonds as of Monday morning.

*11:06am-Brownwood Police responded to the 1300 block of Austin Avenue regarding a stolen bicycle.  The theft was reported to have taken place between the hours of 10:45-11:00am.

12:06am-Brownwood Police received a report of a burglary of a vehicle. The complainant stated that while parked near the weight room in the Brownwood High School parking lot, someone broke into his vehicle between the hours of 10pm on Friday and 1am on Saturday.  Several items were stolen from the vehicle and an investigation is ongoing.

*12:26am-A Brownwood Police officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. The stop led to the issuance of a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia.

*2:14pm-Brownwood Police responded to a domestic dispute in the 1500 block of Dublin Drive.  The complainant stated that her husband, 30-year-old Michael Scott Rogers, came to her home saying he wanted to get his dog.  According to the report, Rogers entered, locked the door, grabbed the complainant from behind, and threw her onto the couch, where he put his forearm against her neck then punched her.  Before leaving, the complainant stated that Rogers took $70 from her purse along with the sim card from her cell phone so that she could not call police, and then left on foot.  As police responded, they located Rogers.  When patting him down, a marijuana pipe was found according to police.  Rogers was arrested for Assault with Injury Family Violence Strangulation, Robbery, and Interfere with Emergency Call.  He is currently being held on bonds totaling $72,500.

*2:46pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 900 block of 9th Street regarding a theft.  The information at the scene led to an investigation of theft of a window air conditioning unit.

*8:09pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2400 block of Vine regarding the theft of an air conditioning unit.  The complainant identified a suspect and wishes to pursue charges.

*9:37pm-Brownwood Police responded to suspicious activity in the 1600 block of 1st Street.  This call led to the arrest of 21-year-old Shanelle Reynolds for Assault with Injury Family Violence.

*10:30pm-Brownwood Police conducted a traffic stop in the 1100 block of Avenue D.  The passenger of the vehicle, identified as 19-year-old Damien Lee Estrada, was found to be in possession of Marijuana and also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest according to police reports.  Estrada was arrested for Possession of Marijuana less than 2oz. and for the outstanding warrant from San Saba County.

*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 24-year-old Kerissa Kay Bell and 23-year-old Cameron Allen Botts, both of May, each were charged with Possession of Marijuana greater than 4oz, less than or equal to 5 lbs.

*Early Police Department arrested 42-year-old Vicente Contreras Frausto of Santa Anna for Fail to Identify.

April 10

* 3:38 am-Early Police Officer Steven Means stopped a vehicle for swerving from lane to lane on Early Blvd.  According to police reports, Officer Means interviewed the driver, identified as 35-year-old Jose Andres Ortega of Brownwood, and performed standard field sobriety tests on Ortega. Ortega was placed under arrest for DWI and taken to the Brownwood Regional Emergency Room for a blood test and then booked into the Brown County Jail.

*1:26pm-Brownwood Police took a report regarding threats that were left on a complainant’s voicemail.

*2:54pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 2700 block of 1st Street regarding a criminal trespass.  The complainant stated that a subject had entered her property which was clearly posted “No Trespassing” while she was not at home.  The subject had previously been told over the phone that he was not permitted on the premises without her present the report states.  Suspect information was provided and charges were pending at the time of the report.

* 5:45pm Officer Means of the Early Police Department answered a disturbance call in the 200 block of Eastover. According to the report, one subject that was involved in the disturbance had left the scene and was allegedly intoxicated.  This subject, identified as 30-year-old Jeromy Wayne Jones, was located at a store in the 300 block of Early Blvd and placed under arrest for Public Intoxication.

*5:51pm-Brownwood Police responded to the 1500 block of Terrace Drive.  According to the report, a complainant stated that her ex-boyfriend had threatened to harm her current boyfriend and had called 37 times in a 2 hour time span.   A report for harassment was initially made and after speaking with the complainant’s boyfriend, a report for terroristic threat was made according to police.

*6:33pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 600 block of Oak Street regarding criminal mischief to a neighbor’s property.  According to the report, three juveniles were identified in connection to the damage.  An informational report was filed regarding the incident.

*7:44pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 600 block of N. Center, Hastings, regarding criminal mischief.  According to the report, a vehicle’s tire had been “slashed” while parked in the parking lot.  A suspect has been identified in connection with the incident the report states.

All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
