Saturday, April 6
*10:54 PM – Brownwood Police made a stop in the 1800 block of 4th Street for an equipment violation. According to the report, the officer was alerted, after the stop, that the driver had provided a fictitious name. A report was completed and a warrant issued for the subject’s arrest.
Wednesday, April 10
*1:54 PM – Brownwood Police were called to Wal-Mart, 401 W. Commerce, regarding theft. According to law enforcement records, store loss prevention employees had a shoplifter, identified as 62-year-old Yvonne Montellano of Bangs, in custody for theft. Montellano was observed leaving the store with a shopping cart containing $554.91 in stolen merchandise, the report states. Montellano was arrested for theft of service equal to or greater than $500 less than $1500. Montellano was also issued a criminal trespass warning for the property.
*5:53 PM – Brownwood Police were called to Wal-Mart, 401 W. Commerce regarding theft. According to the report, a female was observed and detained for stealing $51.56 in merchandise. The female was identified as 60-year-old Marilyn K. Turner. Turner was arrested for theft of property greater than $50 less than $500.*6:46 PM – Brownwood Police made a traffic stop in the 500 block of W. Commerce. According to the report, during the stop, a package of synthetic cannabinoids (K2) was found inside the vehicle. As a result of the stop, a passenger 22-year-old Joshua Robert Breedlove was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance penalty group 2A less than 2 ounces. The driver was issued a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia and released at the scene.
*8:35 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the area of Beaver Street and Austin Avenue regarding an automobile crash. According to the report, the suspect vehicle left the scene and the victim followed the suspect to Wal-Mart, where an officer responded. The suspect, identified as 30-year-old David Newman, was located and found to be intoxicated. Newman was arrested for driving while intoxicated and driving while license invalid with previous convictions.
*Brown County Sheriff’s deputy made a traffic stop after observing two traffic violations. According to the report, the driver, identified as 19-year-old Sonny Wright of Sheffield, Texas, was extremely nervous and after a consensual search of his person and vehicle, a small baggie containing a small but usable amount of marijuana was located. Wright was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces.
*The Brownwood city marshal arrested 41-year-old Thomas Walter New on a warrant related to forgery.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 30-year-old Shandy Archton Smith on a warrant for failure to appear, related to possession of a controlled substance. Smith is being held in the Brown County Jail on $60,000 bond.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 41-year-old Edwin Doyle Wishert of Brookesmith on a parole warrant.
