LECSmThree people were arrested Saturday night in Early on drug related charges after a call from an off-duty police officer.

Early Police officer Stephanie Brown responded to the call of a male and female acting strangely late Saturday night, as if intoxicated or on some type of drug, which led to the arrest of three people at a local motel in the 200 block of Early Blvd, according to Early Police Chief David Mercer.

According to Mercer, the call from an off-duty officer came in at approximately 10:50 p.m. and Officer Brown responded along with Brown County Sheriff’s deputies.  They arrived just as two individuals were about to get into a car and leave, the report states.  Officer Brown began speaking with and questioning the two individuals, who were later identified as Jason Jobe and Chrystal Owen, when suddenly Jobe became nervous and fled on foot into a nearby pasture, throwing items from his pockets, reported Mercer.  Officer Brown chased Jobe through the pasture, caught him and placed him into custody, according to the report.  Once he was secured into a patrol car, Officer Brown and BCSO Sgt. Fincher located the thrown items and identified them as marijuana and heroin, the report states.

Officer Brown obtained consent to search the vehicle and located methamphetamine in the vehicle along with syringes and paraphernalia, according to the report. Officers then went to the motel room where Jobe and Owen were staying and located another female, Christina Davis, the report states.  After searching the motel room, more heroin was located and Christina Davis was placed under arrest, according to Mercer.

Jobe began complaining of medical distress, and Guardian EMS was called and he was transported to BRMC ER, the report states.  Jobe was later released after being examined and was taken to Brown County Jail.

Chrystal Owen had originally given a false name and date of birth, according to the report. Once at the Brown County jail, officers identified her and discovered she was wanted in Harris County for a felony probation violation, the report states.

38-year-old Christina Mae Davis of Montgomery was charged with possession of controlled substance (Felony 3); 32-year-old Chrystal Marie Owen of Houston was charged with possession of controlled substance (Felony 2) and Failure to Identify; and 39-year-old Jason Allen Jobe of Porter was charged with possession of controlled substance (Felony 2), evading arrest (Misdemeanor A), possession of marijuana (Misdemeanor B) and tampering with evidence (Felony 3).

*2:29 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a location on County Road 291 in Zephyr regarding illegal dumping.  According to the report, there was a pile of tires on the side of the roadway.

Friday, February 28

*8:23 AM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1400 block of Austin Avenue regarding theft less than $50.  A suspect was issued a citation for theft and a criminal trespass warning, the report states.

*9:00 AM – Brownwood Police received a report of a child’s outcry of a sexual assault.  Upon the officer’s arrival at a Brownwood residence, the complainant advised that a 3-year-old female relative had made an outcry of sexual assault against a male relative.  The incident is under investigation according to the report.

*10:43 AM – Brownwood Police met with a complainant at the law enforcement center regarding a scam.

*12:41 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1300 block of Magnolia regarding theft.  According to the report, the complainant stated that his ex-girlfriend had stolen his cell phone the day before and used it to text nude photos of him to numerous friends.

*1:11 PM – Brownwood Police responded to the 1300 block of Magnolia regarding a domestic disturbance.  According to the report, the complainant stated that his ex-girlfriend had come to his residence to return a cellular phone that she had stolen the day before.  He stated that she had entered the apartment and began assaulting his new girlfriend and then assaulted him, the report states.   The complainant’s new girlfriend also wished to pursue criminal charges against the suspect for slashing the front left tire of her vehicle.

*1:33 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 400 block of Mulberry Street to assist MHMR personnel with an uncooperative client.  Upon officers’ arrival, it was determined that the client had assaulted a member of MHMR staff.

*1:50 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 600 block of N. Center Avenue regarding an intoxicated subject in the store.  According to the report, the suspect, identified as 58-year-old Xan Clark Duncan of Early, was observed backing from a parking space directly in front of the store.  During the investigation, Duncan was determined to be intoxicated and was arrested for driving while intoxicated 2nd, the report states.  Duncan, after being arrested, began threatening to harm the responding officers and their families, the report states.  Duncan was additionally charged with retaliation, according to the report.

*2:56 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2000 block of Brady Avenue regarding an agency assist with Adult Probation officers who were conducting a home visit.  According to the report, through the search, it was determined that one of the subjects inside the home, identified as 23-year-old Roseann Ortega of Brownwood, had two outstanding arrest warrants related to parent contribute to nonattendance and failure to maintain financial responsibility.  Further investigation revealed that another subject, identified as 26-year-old John Vidal Pesina of Brownwood, was in possession of a glass smoking pipe containing methamphetamine, the report states.  Ortega was arrested on the warrant and Pesina was charged with possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 less than 1 gram.

*8:50 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 400 block of W. Baker Street regarding a hit and run.  According to the report, it was determined that the complainant’s vehicle had been struck on the rear passenger side by a red vehicle.  The suspect vehicle was unable to be located at the time of the report.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched regarding a reckless driver driving east on Early Blvd.  According to the report, the deputy was able to locate the vehicle in the parking lot of the Apollo Coffee Shop and made contact with the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, identified as 21-year-old Dakota Michael Cross of May.  An investigation determined that Cross was intoxicated, the report states.  Cross was subsequently arrested for driving while intoxicated BAC greater 0.15 and transported to the Brown County Jail where a voluntary breath specimen was collected, which measured at 0.227 and 0.247.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office received the report of the burglary of a habitation.  According to the report, the complainant stated that his home had been burglarized sometime during the first part of January and that several items had been stolen.  He did not wish to report the burglary at that time; however, he was advised that a known suspect was trying to sell knives that matched the description of the ones taken from his residence, the report states.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 23-year-old Mandy Mae Barker of DeLeon for theft enhanced.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 22-year-old Joseph Ray Burns of Brownwood on a warrant related to motion to revoke/unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

*Brownwood Police Department arrested 30-year-old Daniel Gober on a Bosque County warrant related to failure to appear/harass by person in correctional facility.

*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 29-year-old Anthony Harper of Austin for possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces.

*Bangs Police arrested 27-year-old Joseph Chance Hyles of Bangs for driving while license invalid with previous conviction/suspension/without financial responsibility.

*20-year-old Shalee Riddles of Brownwood turned herself in on a warrant related to motion to adjudicate/theft of property equal or greater than $500 less than $1500.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 50-year-old Janice Lynn Turney of Rising Star on a warrant related to motion to revoke/possession of marijuana.

*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested Elizabeth Vangunten of Austin for possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces.

Saturday, March 1

*1:10 PM – Brownwood Police were called to Wal-Mart regarding a disorderly female at the store.  According to the report, the female was described as being “a little tweaked out” and was escorted outside of the store and detained by employees until officers arrived.  This call led to the arrest of 47-year-old Betty Ann Phillips Deanda for possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 less than 1 gram.

*1:00 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1600 block of Melwood regarding an assault which had taken place at the location.  As a result of the call, 24-year-old Terrance Alonzo Jackson of Brownwood was arrested for assaulting a female and also charged with resisting arrest and criminal mischief greater than $500 less than $1500.

*A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy made a traffic stop on U.S. Hwy 377 East at FM 3100.  According to the report, an investigation led to the discovery that the driver 26-year-old Joshua Daniel Moreno of Comanche was in possession of a metal smoking pipe which contained a small amount of substance that field tested positive for synthetic cannabis.  Moreno was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance penalty group 2A less than 2 ounces.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a fraudulent check received by the complainant through the mail.

*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 53-year-old Randall Don Baker of Brownwood for driving while intoxicated 3rd or more.  Baker was released on a $25,000 bond.

*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 26-year-old Wesley Carline of Lorena on a McLennan County warrant related to motion to revoke/driving while intoxicated enhanced count 3.

*Texas Department of Public safety arrested 26-year-old Olvera Rojas of Waco for Texas resident with out of state driver’s license.

Sunday, March 2

*6:38 AM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1000 block of Vincent Street regarding criminal mischief.  According to the report, the complainant stated that her sister’s boyfriend came over to her house and damaged some property.  The value of the property had not been determined and the incident is under investigation, the report states.

* 10:00 AM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy responded to the report of a reckless driver.  According to the report, a traffic stop was made on the vehicle.  The driver, identified as 54-year-old Esteban Frias-Munoz of Bangs was found to be in a confused state of mind, the deputy reported.  After Frias-Munoz failed three standard field sobriety tests, he was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated, the report states.  A blood specimen was taken at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.

*10:44 AM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1200 block of Crothers Street regarding the burglary of a habitation.  According to the report, the complainant stated that someone had broken into her grandmother’s home sometime overnight.

*6:03 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to El Paso Street regarding an unwanted male inside a residence.  According to the report, the complainant stated that she had gotten into an argument with her ex-boyfriend, 25-year-old Jonathan Ray Vasquez of Brownwood, when he was asked to leave the residence and he refused.  When the complainant became afraid and went to her neighbor’s home, Vasquez locked her out of the house, the report states.  Deputies attempted to speak with Vasquez but were unsuccessful.  When the property owner arrived, she gave consent to deputies to enter the home, where they located Vasquez hiding in a bedroom lying between the bed and wall, according to the report. Vasquez was arrested for criminal trespass.

*A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy observed a male subject driving a car without a seat belt on W. Commerce.  A traffic stop was initiated and the driver identified.  During a consensual search of the vehicle, the passenger 26-year-old Maria Aurora Ortiz of Coleman was found to have a green and white straw in her purse which contained a white residue that tested positive for methamphetamine.  After further investigation, Ortiz revealed that she had concealed a glass methamphetamine pipe.  Ortiz was arrested and charged with tamper/fabricate physical evidence and possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 less than 1 gram.

*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 39-year-old Juan Jose Ibarra of Brownwood for driving while intoxicated with child under 15 years of age.

*Brownwood Police arrested 31-year-old Richard Wesley May of Moberly, Missouri for disorderly conduct.

*Early Police arrested 55-year-old Johnny Monden of Early for public intoxication.

*Brownwood Police arrested 28-year-old Aaron Lyle Sagay of Window Rock, Arizona for public intoxication.
