LECSmEarly Police Department officer received a call of a burglary at the Pate’s Hardware store in the 1100 block of Early Blvd in Early on Thursday, March 24, 2016. The burglary occurred in the early morning hours and is believed to have occurred between 5:00 a.m. and 5:50 a.m.

According to Early Police Chief David Mercer, the actors broke out the front glass door by throwing a brick through the glass to make entry. Once inside, the actors took 9 chainsaws, 2 concrete saws and a blower totaling just over $7000, Mercer stated.  Just before the burglary was discovered, officers received a call of a burglary alarm at Doc’s Pharmacy at 1200 CC Woodson Road.

A Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy drove by Pates Hardware store en route to assist the Early PD officer with the alarm call when he observed a white Dodge Charger in Pate’s parking lot. It is unknown if the alarm call had anything to do with the Pate’s burglary. Another witness observed a white 4 door car, possibly a Dodge Charger backed up to the front door with 2 individuals standing outside.
