Brownwood Police were dispatched to a robbery at a residence in the 3800 block of Austin Avenue Friday night.
According to police reports, a male subject called 911 stating that someone had just broken into his residence and struck him with a baseball bat before fleeing out the back door of the residence. The suspect was described as a white male wearing a dark colored hoodie, and that he fled north down the alleyway after leaving the victim’s residence.
The area was searched extensively by several officers; however, the suspect was unable to be located.
During an investigation, the victim stated that he has been sleeping in a bedroom of the home when he heard a noise coming from the living area. According to the report, the noise was suspicious to him because his wife and children were away at a birthday party and no one else was supposed to be inside his residence at that time.
The victim walked toward the living area of his house and noticed a shadowy figure of a male subject in the dining room of his residence, holding his wife’s computer, the report states. When the victim yelled at the male and asked him what he was doing, the male suspect dropped the computer and bolted toward the back door, according to the report. The victim stated that he reached out and grabbed the male’s shirt and the male suspect shoved a baseball bat that he had been carrying backwards, striking the victim in the right hip. The victim informed officers that the bat was in fact his own baseball bat, which had been outside in his garage previous to the robbery, the report states. There were no visible injuries to the victim at this time according to the officer’s report.The victim wished to pursue criminal charges against whoever is responsible for the robbery. The victim named a possible suspect, possibly a young male (16-17 year-old) friend of his daughter, who had been banned from coming back to the residence. The victim stated that he had found out that the male had been responsible for committing a burglary at a residence and that he did not want his daughter to be around him anymore. The incident is pending further investigation, the report states.

*7:57 AM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2400 block of Avenue B regarding criminal mischief. According to the report, the complainant had been inside the residence when he heard a loud noise at approximately 7:15 a.m. He went outside to investigate and found that someone had caused damage to the windshield of his mother-in-law’s vehicle. No suspect information was available at the time of the report.
*10:44 AM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1500 block of Davis Lane regarding an unwanted person. According to the report, the complainant wished a trespass warning be issued to a male subject for the property.
*4:52 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1500 block of 2nd Street regarding harassment. According to the report, a female alleged she was threatened by her ex-boyfriend. During an investigation of the incident, the male denied having threatened the female and told police that he had been assaulted by the female.
*5:42 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1700 block of 13th Street regarding a welfare concern. According to the report, the officer arrived at the location to check on a female subject. As a result, the officer began an investigation for assault family violence strangulation.
*6:13 PM – Brownwood Police met with a complainant at the law enforcement center regarding a child custody dispute.
*6:34 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1600 block of 1st Street regarding a domestic disturbance. According to the report, an investigation of the incident led to the arrest of Michael Paxton on charges of Assault Family Violence Strangulation.
*7:23 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1700 block of 13th Street regarding a civil standby. According to the report, the complainant stated that her cousin had taken some medication and she wanted her to leave until she could calm down.
*11:13 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2300 block of 4th Street regarding an assault. According to the report, a male victim stated that he had been assaulted by several people. The male victim was found by officers on arrival to be lying in the front yard, the report states. Officers recognized the male as a man they had spoken to regarding possible narcotics activity in the area during a previous shift and who was intoxicated at the time, the report states. He was told to go inside his residence at that time; however, he had exited the residence telling officers that he was planning on recording the narcotics activity, according to the report. Once at the neighboring home, the victim stated that he asked a male subject to leave the residence and he was struck in the mouth by the male. Occupants inside the neighboring residence stated that they had not seen an assault, but that one person stated that he heard several people outside of the residence. Another witness stated that they had seen the argument and the victim get struck in the mouth by an unidentified male. After the victim had been struck in the mouth, the witness stated that the group of subjects entered an unknown vehicle and fled the scene.
The victim was found to have a fracture to his right left leg front he incident but no visible injuries to his mouth.
*11:46 PM – Brownwood Police made a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 1000 block of Coggin Avenue for traveling on the wrong side of the roadway. The driver, identified as 26-year-old William Brayden Daniel of Abilene, admitted to consuming alcohol and failed several standardized sobriety tests during the stop, the report states. Daniel was subsequently arrested for driving while intoxicated.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report of the burglary of a building. According to the report, the complainant stated that someone had been stealing antiques from the garage of her residence located on FM 2492. An investigation is pending, the report states.
*17-year-old David Miller of Brownwood turned himself in on a warrant related to failure to attend school.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 25-year-old Sarah Rose Neuse of Brownwood on a warrant related to failure to appear/possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces and on a surety withdrawal for possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 equal or greater than 1 gram less than 4 grams.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 35-year-old Katrina Leann White of Brownwood on warrants related to failure to appear and theft.
Saturday, March 22
*11:09 AM – Brown County Sheriff’s Sergeant John Fincher arrested 42-year-old Thomas Bayard Whitmire of Early for public intoxication at his workplace, the Texas National Guard Armory. According to the report, Whitmire showed up to work in an intoxicated state, which put him and other employees in danger.
*11:49 AM – Brownwood Police were called to the 600 block of Center Avenue regarding an accident with possible injuries. This call led to the investigation of one driver for possibly driving while intoxicated. Blood was drawn at the hospital to be sent to the lab. No arrest was made at the time of the report.
*3:31 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 600 block of 3rd Street regarding a report of injury to the elderly/disabled. According to the report, an investigation is underway and a suspect is known.
*8:48 PM – Brownwood Police arrested 36-year-old James Fleming of Brownwood in the 2400 block of Cottage Street for possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report of the theft of an electric cable running from a residence on Tamarack Drive to a dock on Lake Brownwood. According to the report, the cable had been cut and stolen; it is valued at approximately $200.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 45-year-old Chad William Beasley of Brownwood for public intoxication.
*Brownwood Police arrested 23-year-old Patricia Lee Garcia for Abandon Endanger Child.
Sunday, March 23
*12:13 AM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1300 block of Magnolia regarding a domestic disturbance. According to the report, both subjects were interviewed and a report was generated for assault by contact.
*2:09 AM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2500 block of Avenue B regarding a domestic disturbance that resulted in an incident of assault family violence.
*6:22 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 4600 block of Delwood regarding criminal mischief. According to the report, the complainant advised that an unknown person had “egged” her home.
*Brownwood Police arrested 35-year-old James David Fleming of Brownwood for possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces.
*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 23-year-old Aric Hein of Denver, Colorado for possession of a controlled substance penalty group 2 equal or greater than 4 grams less than 400 grams and possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces.
