Friday, March 20
*10:00 AM – During a planned drug sweep in several classrooms at Brownwood High School, a K-9 unit alerted on a backpack in one of the classrooms and drug paraphernalia was located. The student was issued a citation. Additionally, the student was assigned 45 days at the Disciplinary Alternative Education Program (DAEP) as school discipline.
Sunday, March 22
*8:00 AM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy responded to Sportsman Center storage units in the 2400 block of Belle Plain regarding an unwanted person who had gained entry into a storage unit without permission. According to the report, management reported that David Robles Ortega, Jr. was no longer allowed on the property because of delinquent payments. Ortega, with the help of a female friend, was loading items from the storage units into her vehicle, the report states. During an investigation, Ortega admitted to management that he had picked the Sportsman Center’s locks and taken them home with him a few days prior, according to the report. Ortega was arrested for theft under $50 for the theft of the locks and also charged with Criminal Mischief $50-$500 for damaging a badge while he was detained in the deputy’s patrol car the report states. During this investigation, a witness stated that another subject had threatened to run over her with his vehicle as she tried to close the gate to the storage buildings, according to the deputy’s report. Three reports were made by the deputy.
Monday, March 23
*9:31 AM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1600 block of Avenue K regarding a drive-by shooting. According to the report, the complainant stated that an unknown subject had fired shots at her home, striking it twice; the bullet fragments found inside the home. Three other bullet fragments were found outside the residence, the report states. An investigation is ongoing according to law enforcement.
*10:15 AM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy received a report of theft and cruelty to non-livestock animals. According to the report, the complainant stated that two subjects had stolen property from her rent house in the 8100 block of Gordon Road and had left a three legged dog at the property, never returning to retrieve or feed the dog. The couple moved from the property on Friday, March 13. The complainant estimated the value of the items stolen was $1,025.00, the report states. The dog was seized and taken to the Corinne T. Smith Animal Center in Brownwood, Texas, due to the circumstances of the animal being abandoned without any food or care, according to the report.
*11:28 AM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a property on FM 1850 regarding a theft. According to the report, the complainant stated that her granddaughter had taken her debit card and purchased items online without permission. The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Mary Elizabeth Hanson, admitted to the deputy that she went into the victim’s purse and took the debit card number and ordered merchandise online without the victim’s knowledge or permission, the report states. Subsequently, Hanson was arrested for Credit/Debit card abuse, the report states.
*12:15 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2300 block of Vine Street regarding a domestic disturbance between a boyfriend and girlfriend. According to the report, this call led to the arrest of 18-year-old Jordan Kiara McClain of Brownwood for assault with injury family violence.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 34-year-old Coiley T-Shane Burns of Brownwood on a warrant related to a surety withdrawal/possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 less than 1 gram in a drug free zone.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 25-year-old Alyssa Roann Chick of Tuscola on a warrant related to motion to adjudicate/possession of a controlled substance. Chick was being held in the Brown County Jail in lieu of $60,000 bond as of Tuesday morning.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 31-year-old Brandon Dee Gilbreath of Brookesmith for assault causes bodily injury family violence and for warrants related to burglary of a habitation and theft of firearm. Gilbreath was being held in the Brown County Jail in lieu of bonds totaling $30,000 as of Tuesday morning.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 30-year-old Josiah Andrew Huggins of Brownwood on a Mills County warrant related to theft of firearm. Huggins was being held in the Brown County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bond.
