Friday, February 27

*12:43 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to Walmart regarding theft.  According to the report, store loss prevention employees had a male subject detained in the loss prevention office for theft.  This call led to the male subject being issued a citation for theft less than $50.

*1:57 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1100 block of Vine Street regarding credit card abuse.

*5:37 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1600 block of Calvert Drive regarding a runaway juvenile.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report that two mailboxes had been damaged at County Road 422 at the entrance to North Lake.  According to the report, it appeared that someone had hit the mailboxes with a vehicle.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 40-year-old Heather Lea Barker of Blanket on a warrant related to theft from person.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 28-year-old Racheal Deann Bishop of Brownwood for driving while license invalid with previous conviction.

*59-year-old Thomas James hickey of Blanket turned himself in on a warrant related to forgery of a financial instrument.

*Early Police arrested 40-year-old Howard Shields of Abilene on a warrant related to a parole violation.

Saturday, February 28

*6:00 AM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1500 block of Vincent Street regarding criminal mischief.

*4:22 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 2100 block of W. Main Avenue regarding the theft of a firearm.  According to the report, the complainant stated that a suspect had removed a .22 caliber rifle from a camper at his residence.  An investigation is ongoing, the report states.

*11:34 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1100 block of San Benito Drive regarding a disturbance.  According to the report, when the officer arrived he spoke to the two remaining people who were at the residence and a report was filed.

*Early police arrested 30-year-old Joshua James Stovall of Early on Mills County warrants related to hunting after license suspended and theft by check.

Sunday, March 1

*1:33 AM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 500 block of E. Commerce regarding a fight in progress.  All subjects involved were spoken to and only one of the subjects filed a report, according to police.

*2:46 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 2000 block of Slayden Street regarding theft.  According to the report, a female reported her wallet had been stolen which contained personal identification cards.

*5:43 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to Walmart regarding a hit and run accident.  According to the report, as officers were responding to the scene, the suspect vehicle was observed and contact was made with its driver, 25-year-old Christopher Paul Benavides of Brownwood.  Witnesses had described Benavides, who was found to be intoxicated, the report states.  He was subsequently arrested for driving while intoxicated and duty on striking unattended vehicle greater than $200.

*10:01 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to US Hwy 183 South regarding a reckless driver.  According to the report, a vehicle, which had possibly been in a crash, was now travelling toward Early without any headlights on.   The vehicle was located near the 100 block of Garmon Drive and failed to yield to emergency lights and sirens as it approached Early Blvd, the report states.  The driver made a u-turn and continued south on Garmon Drive at speeds over 100 mph, according to the deputy’s report.  The vehicle also attempted to elude law enforcement by turning and changing directions twice more and at one point almost collided with a patrol vehicle before swerving right, leaving the roadway and coming to a stop in the ditch along the roadside, according to the report.  The driver, identified as 41-year-old Jason Justin Daniell of Early, was arrested for evading arrest or detention, driving while license invalid with previous convictions and possession of a controlled substance penalty group 2A.  Daniell was transported to Brownwood Regional Medical Center for treatment of his injuries and was under the watch of a Brown County Sheriff’s deputy.  While supervising Daniell, he became very irate, upset (because he wanted to see his family) and then refused to obey verbal commands when told to calm down by pushing at and attempting to strike the deputy with his right fist, according to the report.  Daniell was restrained in handcuffs and was additionally charged with assault on a public servant, the report states.

Monday, March 2

*12:23 AM – Brownwood police responded to the 1200 block of Avenue H regarding a domestic disturbance.
