Brownwood Police were called to City Hall on Tuesday morning regarding the burglary of a vehicle which was in progress.
According to the report, a male subject was delivering bulk paper to city hall around 9:40 a.m. and when he returned to his vehicle, he found a male he did not know exiting his vehicle who then ran across the parking lot. The male victim went into City Hall to report the burglary and upon returning to his vehicle saw that the suspect had returned to the parking lot and was inside another vehicle, the report states. The victim confronted the male and told him he had called police and the male then ran across the street, where the victim lost sight of him.
It appeared that the male had rummaged through the vehicle, including the center console and glove box and that a small amount of coin money had been taken in the burglary.
Someone within City Hall identified the male as a city employee’s son.
Police arrived to investigate and located the male’s mother who was just backing out of the City Hall parking lot, and stopped her to talk to her. A male subject, identified as 26-year-old Kameron Brown of Brownwood, was discovered hiding in the vehicle, according to police.
Police also found items within the trunk and inside the mother’s vehicle that the investigation determined had been stolen from three other vehicles in the parking lot, the report states. Items included a box from an online auto parts store, a large dial scale, an MP3 player and coins which were stolen from each of the vehicles, according to the report. Another MP3 player was later found by the suspect’s mother inside her car which was turned into police.
The investigation determined that all of the vehicles which were burglarized had been left unlocked, according to police.
Brown was arrested and charged with four counts of burglary of a vehicle.
