RodriguezReydecelAn observant off-duty officer who was not from the area noticed suspicious activity at a Brownwood restaurant which led to the arrest of 23-year-old Reydecel Rodriguez.

According to Sheriff Bobby Grubbs, around 11:00 p.m. on March 11th, Brown County Deputy Nathan Land was dispatched to the parking lot of China King in Early, Texas.  At the location, he spoke to an out-of-town off-duty police officer who had reported seeing a gold van drive into the parking lot and pick up a young man.  Grubbs said that the off-duty peace officer observed something fall out of the van while the young man was getting in it.

This officer went over to inspect the object and discovered it was a gallon size Ziploc style bag containing marijuana.  The officer recorded the license plate and called for local law enforcement.

After Deputy Land was notified, he was able to locate the van parked at some apartments in the 500 block of Main Street.  Two men were seen standing by the van; one identified as Reydecel Rodriguez.  After speaking to them about the incident, Deputy Land searched Rodriguez and located an additional bag of marijuana on his person.  Rodriguez was arrested for Possession of Marijuana.

Monday, March 14

*2:53pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to Brookshire’s regarding theft.  According to the report, officers met with the manager who explained that a known suspect had stolen two bottles of liquor from the store.  The male suspect was issued a citation along with a trespass warning and was then released from the scene the report states.

*4:13pm-Brownwood Police were called to a report of criminal mischief in the parking lot of Brooke shires.  According to the report, a woman and her daughter had an argument during which the daughter had become enraged according to police reports.  The woman had pulled into the parking lot to avoid any further conflict with her daughter, who then kicked out the back glass window of the woman’s pick-up truck.  Photos of the damage were taken and a report was filed.

*7:48pm-Brownwood Police were called to 401 W. Commerce, Wal-Mart, regarding a male who had reportedly looked under a 6-year-old girl’s dress.  Video surveillance was reviewed; however, no suspect could be identified.

NavaTerry*10:00pm-Brown County Sheriff Bobby Grubbs reported an investigation of the distribution of methamphetamine and other substances over several weeks led to the arrest of a 46-year-old Brownwood woman.

BCSO Deputies, who were closely assisted by the Brownwood Police Department, executed a search and arrest warrant at the Woodland Crest Apartments in Brownwood according to Grubbs.

After securing the location, investigator Carlyle Gover conducted the investigation and search with the assistance of other officers.  Items associated with the use of methamphetamine were discovered at the residence during the search along with several boxes of new unopened makeup and other cosmetic products according to Grubbs.  Next to these boxes was a handbag that had been modified to defeat anti-shoplifting alarms.  The investigation continues to identify where these items originated from.

Terry Nava, age 46, was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Drug Free Zone and also on two outstanding Brown County warrants.

Sheriff Grubbs stated that his deputies are working closely with other agencies and that charges are expected to be filed later for Theft and Possession of a Criminal Instrument.    Grubbs also stated that his deputies will continue in the ongoing investigation of a number of suspects that are future targets of this investigation.
