*6:18 a.m. Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 7-11 convenience store in the 3800 block of 4th Street regarding a male subject coming into the store covered in blood. According to the report, a store employee was able to give a description of the male’s vehicle as well as provide a first name, and police later located the male’s vehicle at a residence on Phillips Street.
At this residence, the officer was met by a female and a male who lived at the house, and was invited inside due to the cold weather. The officer observed a large amount of blood on a quilt laying partially on the floor and couch, and a framed print lying in the floor which appeared as if a struggle had taken place sometime during the night resulting in someone being injured, the report states. An elderly male soon came into the living room and had an injury to the bridge of his nose, a black eye and matted dried blood covering the right side of his head, according to the report. The female and the elderly male (a guest at the house) gave the officers conflicting information; however, the male who lived in the house with the female stated that he had come home from working a double shift around 11 p.m. that night and found the other two intoxicated and that the male guest began groping his wife which angered him and caused him to hit the elderly male with his fists and “beat him up pretty badly,” the report states. He explained that he and his wife had been letting the elderly man, who is a close friend, stay with them because of poor living conditions at his home and because of his alcoholism. He stated that he felt bad about hurting the elderly male because he would not have acted that way if he weren’t under the influence of the alcohol.
