Friday, March 7
*10:35 AM – Early Police Officer Stephanie Brown observed a vehicle with an expired registration; however, before Officer Brown could get the vehicle stopped, it pulled into a convenience store in the 900 block of Early Blvd. According to the report, a male exited the vehicle and began walking down the street. Officer Brown stopped the male to question him and he acted very nervous while providing a name and date of birth, the report states. No record was found for the name given. When the individual had difficultly spelling his last name, Officer Brown questioned him further and he admitted his name was actually 26-year-old Rodney Shane Howard, the report states. Howard’s name was found to have some outstanding warrants for his arrest, according to the report. Howard was placed under arrest for two warrants related to no driver’s license and failure to appear, the report states. He was also found to have several items of drug paraphernalia in his pockets and several baggies containing a small amount of methamphetamines and some prescription medication for which he had no prescription, the report states. Subsequently, Howard was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 less than 1 gram, possession of a controlled substance penalty group 3 less than 28 grams, and failure to identify. Howard is being held in the Brown County Jail in lieu of bonds totaling $10,000.
*3:36 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1400 block of Austin Avenue regarding theft. According to the report, a suspect was identified and issued a citation for theft less than $50 and issued a trespass warning for the store.
*3:39 PM – Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Kelly Marsh was dispatched to a residence on FM 1467 for a report of a burglary of a habitation, which had already occurred. According to the report, the complainant advised she had arrived home around 2:30 p.m., on the above date. She advised nothing was disturbed at the residence at the time; however after she took a shower, her 26-inch flat screen television (valued at $610) and a 42-inch plasma television (valued at $700)were taken from the bedroom next to the bathroom she was using, according to the report. She advised no one else was present at the time she showered and then discovered the missing items, the report states.
*4:30 PM – Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Robert Ramirez conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a valid traffic offense. According to the report, the occupants of the vehicle had discrepancies in their story of where and why they were traveling together. Deputy Ramirez was given consent to search the vehicle and was able to locate 2.3 grams of methamphetamine on 42-year-old Doris Denise Ortega of Brownwood, who also surrendered 5.5 grams of marijuana she had stuffed in the seat of the vehicle, the report states. Ortega was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 greater than 1 gram less than 4 grams and possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces.
*5:55 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 3000 block of 1st Street regarding an unwanted person. According to the report, an investigation discovered that the complainant was a victim of assault family violence and burglary of a habitation.
*6:00 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1500 block of Terrace Drive regarding a fire call. An investigation is ongoing, the report states.
*6:28 PM – Brownwood Police responded to the 2300 block of 4th Street regarding terroristic threat.
*10:06 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 2800 block of Southside Drive regarding a fight in progress between a female and a male. According to the report, an investigation led to the arrest of 23-year-old Takenda Cotton of Brownwood for assault causes bodily injury family violence.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a residence on County Road 103 regarding a stolen flute.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Terry Sliter conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle which failed to correctly use the signal for a lane change. After the vehicle came to a stop, the driver, identified as 41-year-old Davette Denise LaMotte of Austin, was made to exit the vehicle. According to the report, the deputy questioned both LaMotte and the passenger where they were going and after talking to both subjects, LaMotte advised the deputy that she had a small baggy of marijuana under the driver’s seat. A search of the vehicle located a small baggy of marijuana, which weighed 4.7 grams with packaging, under the seat like LaMotte had advised, the report states. LaMotte was placed under arrest for possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 38-year-old Robert Joseph Catlin of Taylor on a warrant related to failure to appear/reckless driving.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 37-year-old Kristin Lee Field of Brownwood on a warrant related to motion to revoke/driving while intoxicated.
Saturday, March 8
*2:11 PM – A Brownwood Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a residence on County Road 292 in Early, regarding theft. According to the report, the complainant stated that a John Deere riding lawn mower, valued at $1,760 had been stolen. If a suspect can be identified, the complainant wishes to pursue charges, the report states.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Kelly Marsh stopped a vehicle in the 9200 block of south US 377 on Saturday afternoon, March 8, 2014, regarding a traffic violation. According to the report, the driver of the vehicle, identified as 33-year-old Curtis Alan Copeland of Brady, had warrants issued in Brown County JP Court related to driving while license suspended and violate promise to appear. Copeland was arrested for the warrants and subsequently searched, which revealed a glass methamphetamine pipe in his left sock, the report states. Copeland advised Deputy Gramling, who was assisting Deputy Marsh, that he had marijuana in his sock also, according to the report. Two plastic baggies of methamphetamine were found in his left sock which had a total weight of 1.8 grams, the report states. Copeland was arrested and additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 less greater than 1 gram less than 4 grams.
*Early Police arrested 26-year-old Jesse Lee Elkins of Rising Star for driving while license expired.
Sunday, March 9
*1:11 AM – Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Troy Boulter made a traffic stop on a white Chevrolet pickup truck on South Hwy 377. The driver was identified as 19-year-old William Gage Fenton of Brownwood. According to the report, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was noticed coming from the inside of the pickup truck and a number of open beer containers were observed by the deputy in the front floor board. Deputy Boulter had Fenton step outside to the rear of the truck, where he performed standard field sobriety tests poorly, the report states. Subsequently, Fenton was arrested for driving while intoxicated with open container. After transport to the Brown County Jail, Fenton provided 2 breath specimens on the breathalyzer, with blood alcohol contents of 0.108 and 0.108, the report states.
*11:44 AM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1700 block of Avenue I regarding a hit and run accident. According to the report, the incident happened between the hours of 1:30 AM and 8:29 AM. The incident is pending further investigation.
*Early Police arrested 21-year-old Taylor Danielle Bigbie of Blanket on warrants related to failure to maintain financial responsibility and failure to appear.
Monday, March 10
*Early Police arrested 30-year-old Charles Kirby Cabler III of Early for public intoxication and resisting arrest.
*Brownwood Police arrested 35-year-old Adam Leon Oneal of Brownwood on a warrant related to theft equal or greater than $20 less than $500.
