LECSmBrown County Deputy Terry Sliter made a traffic stop at 1:00 a.m. Tuesday morning on a vehicle for speeding on Early Blvd, across the street from Early Elementary, which resulted in three men being arrested on drug related charges.

According to the report, the driver 23-year-old Brian Karl Peterson along with passengers 24-year-old Brian Degman, and 24-year-old Lawrence E. Guerrero told the officer that they were coming home from watching the Super Bowl with some friends in Denver.  Although their identification cards were all from Illinois, the Brown County Jail log shows their addresses to all be located in Austin, Texas.

The report states that the three men’s stories did not match up and with further questioning, Deputy Sliter was advised that Guerrero and Degman admitted smoking marijuana recreationally while in Colorado; however, when asked if they had any left over, they said they did not.  After being denied consent to search the vehicle, the BCSO K-9 unit was deployed with a positive alert on the vehicle, the report states.  A total of 137.5 grams of candy with THC as the main ingredient and 87 grams of marijuana were found in the vehicle, the deputy reported.  The contraband was located in different containers all through the car and all three subjects had knowledge of the contraband, according to the report.

All three men were placed under arrest and each charged with possession of a controlled substance penalty group 2 equal or greater than 4 grams less than 400 grams in a drug free zone and possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces in a drug free zone.

*3:02 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 300 block of E. Commerce, Tractor Supply Company, regarding a suspicious person.  This call led to the issuance of a criminal trespass warning to the subject.

Friday, January 31

*12:13 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2700 block of Southside Drive.  According to the report, the BHS resource officer was assigned to accompany a K-9 officer in a search of the Brownwood Alternative High School.  During the search, the K-9 alerted on a computer bag while in a classroom which led to an investigation finding a juvenile in possession of smokeless tobacco and a cigarette.  The juvenile was issued a citation for minor in possession of tobacco.

Monday, February 3

*10:07 PM – Brown County Sheriff’s deputy Thomas made a traffic stop in the 400 block of E. Hall for defective equipment.  According to the report, the driver of the vehicle, Ricky Leshawn Smith of Bangs, was found to have an outstanding warrant for failure to appear/possession of a controlled substance.  While waiting on confirmation of the warrant, the deputy had Smith empty his pockets, which revealed an open pack of cigarettes, the report states.  The pack contained a hand rolled cigarette which was found to be marijuana, the report states.  Smith was arrested for the outstanding warrant and additionally charged with possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces.

*11:21 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1300 block of Brooks Avenue regarding an assault.  According to the report, a male had assaulted his fiancée and also took her phone, preventing her from calling police for assistance.  52-year-old Terral Byron Martin was arrested for the offense of interference with an emergency request for assistance, as well as assault with injury family violence.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 27-year-old Christopher Lee Cantu on a warrant related to assault with a deadly weapon.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 25-year-old Orlando Enrique Carrillo on a warrant related to failure to appear/motion to enforce.

*Early Police arrested 29-year-old Jordan Ryan Hicks on warrants related to failure to maintain financial responsibility, failure to appear, defect exhaust, violate promise to appear, and speeding.

*Brownwood Police arrested 33-year-old Dustin Drew Leslie on a warrant related to motion to revoke/assault causes bodily injury family violence.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 25-year-old Efrain Sandoval of Canadian on a warrant related to fail to identify.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 31-year-old Michael Joe Somerville on warrants related to motion to adjudicate/theft and driving while intoxicated.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 23-year-old Danielle Michelle Wells on warrants related to theft of property equal or greater than $50 less than $500 and driving while license invalid with previous conviction/suspension without financial responsibility.
