LECSmLaw enforcement arrests and reports released Friday, February 28, 2014:

Thursday, February 27

*10:51 AM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2200 block of Austin Avenue regarding found narcotics.  According to the report, three baggies containing a substance believed to be marijuana or a synthetic equivalent were seized.

*11:27 AM – Brownwood Police met with a complainant at the law enforcement center regarding forgery of checks on their bank account.

*12:55 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 2300 block of Dartmore regarding a burglary in progress.  According to the report, a witness reported seeing two teenage males leaving a residence with a weed eater and other items who jumped a fence into the backyard of a neighboring residence.  Officers called the resident of the home where the two males were reported to have gone and searched the area, the report states.  Officers gave the description of the males and asked the resident if they lived at the address. He identified the suspects as Skylour Admire and Nathan Willson and stated that they were staying there, the report states.  Willson was located in a room at the back of the house and Admire was located hiding behind a mattress that was behind a chair in the living area of the home, according to the report.  Willson cooperated with the officers, telling them the details of the burglary which he stated was Admire’s idea, and that he only participated because he was scared of Admire, the report states.  Admire denied being involved in the burglary and blamed it on Willson, stating that Willson “has a problem with meth and wanted to steal the weed eater to pay for drugs,” the report states.  The homeowner where the burglary took place was contacted and identified the stolen items.  Because of the statements by Willson and the observations and statement of facts by the witness, Nathan Emry Willson and Skylour Blu Admire, both age 18, were arrested.  Both were charged with burglary of a building and evading arrest/detention.  In addition both were issued criminal trespass warnings for the property which was burglarized.

*4:11 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 2400 block of 13th Street regarding a domestic disturbance involving family violence.  According to the report, officers arrived and began an investigation which led to the arrest of 39-year-old David Lynn Cain.  Cain, while officers were performing their investigation, was very angry and became aggressive, not calming down enough to tell officers his version of what had occurred.  Because of evidence and Cain’s threatening demeanor, officers attempted to handcuff him for officer’s safety as well as that of other parties involved in the disturbance.  Cain refused to allow officers to handcuff him and attempted to push past one officer who was standing between him and the entrance to the residence, the report states.  Because officers had knowledge of firearms in the home and feared he was going to retrieve one, a second officer took Cain to the ground from behind, the report states.  As the first officer attempted to secure his legs, Cain struck the officer in the head twice with a closed fist, according to the report.  The first officer disengaged and then deployed his taser at Cain; however, the suspect reached around and pulled the probes from his body and threw them onto the officer who had deployed them while it was still active, the report states.  Because the taser was not effective, the second officer deployed O.C. spray on Cain’s eyebrow region; however, Cain wiped this from his face and it too did not have the intended effect, the report states.  The second officer engaged Cain again physically and was able to secure him in handcuffs, according to the officer.  Cain was placed into the patrol car while making statements that he never assaulted anyone that he was only “grappling.”

Cain was charged with the offenses of assault causes injury family violence and assault public servant.  An emergency protective order was requested on behalf of the victims in the incident, the report states.

*5:33 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2700 block of Temple Avenue regarding an unwanted subject.  According to the report, an investigation found that a person had been assaulted.  A criminal trespass warning was issued to the unwanted subject, the report states.

*7:38 PM – Brownwood police were called to the 1700 block of Durham Avenue regarding an assault.  According to the report, a male subject has been assaulted with a blunt object.  A suspect has been named, the report states.

*7:54 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1700 block of Good Shepherd regarding a hit and run.  According to the report, a suspect vehicle and operator were identified.

*9:06 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1600 block of Borden Street regarding criminal mischief.  According to the report, the complainant stated that his ex-girlfriend asked him for a ride and when he told her no, she picked up a weight and threw it at his truck, breaking the front windshield of his truck.  Criminal charges are being pursued against the female, the report states.

*Early Police arrested 27-year-old Seth Evan Clark of Early for theft.

*Brownwood Police arrested 21-year-old Joshua Wayne Dyess of Brownwood for theft of property greater than $1500 less than $20,000.

*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 50-year-old Julie Kay Hill for possession of a controlled substance penalty group 3 less than 28 grams, driving while license invalid and on a Lufkin county warrant related to motion to revoke/theft of property.

Friday, February 28

*2:15 AM – Brownwood Police responded to a local motel in the 400 block of E. Commerce regarding a stolen vehicle with an Arkansas license plate.  While officers were approaching the vehicle, a female also approaching the vehicle ran back into a room at the motel, where one officer was able to stop her.  Another officer knocked on the door and another female answered.  Several other subjects were observed inside the room and officers had them exit the room so that a consensual search could be performed.     The female who initially fled from officers was identified as 33-year-old Miranda McCain Willis of Brownwood, who surrendered a glass pipe with a white substance believed to be methamphetamine in the neck of the pipe, the report states.   The other occupants of the room were patted down and a male, identified as 22-year-old Quenton Nathan Koettel of Cross Plains, was found to have a small plastic baggy of white crystal-like substance also believed to be methamphetamine and was in possession of the keys to the stolen vehicle (which he stated was rented), the report states.  $1600 in U.S. currency was also found in the room and seized, the report states.  Willis and Koettel were arrested and each charged with possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 less than 1 gram in a drug free zone.   Koettel was also arrested on a Taylor County warrant for theft.

*4:28 AM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 3600 block Surrey Lane regarding a female who was crying and asking for police to respond to a residence.  According to the report, it was determined that a physical altercation had occurred between two males at the residence.  While inside the residence, officers located narcotics in plain view, the report states.  As a result of this call, Julian Gomez was arrested for possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 less than 1 gram and possession of drug paraphernalia.

*Bangs Police arrested 24-year-old Jeffrey Lee Schafer of Brookesmith for driving while license
