Law enforcement arrests and reports released Monday, February 27, 2012.

Thursday, February 23

*1:58pm-A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched regarding identity theft.  According to the report, the complainant stated that someone had used her social security number to open an electric account with Direct Energy, leaving an outstanding balance of $510. 

*A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to an area where a dead cow could be seen from the road.  According to the report, the complainant stated that the cows in this pasture were being mistreated that that she “wanted something done now.”   Water and food sources were available to the cattle at the time of the investigation, the report states. The owner of the cattle was found before the deputy left the property and advised of the deceased livestock.  The owner stated that she routinely has a veterinarian visit the herd often and that the dead cow would be removed from the property as soon as possible, the report states.

Friday, February 24

*7:21am-Brown County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of the burglary of a motor vehicle.  According to the report, several items were taken out of the complainant’s vehicle sometime during the night.  The complainant was advised in the future to take valuables out of the vehicle at night.

*8:28am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1700 block of Melwood regarding the burglary of a vehicle. 

*9:11am-Brownwood Police were called to the 1000 block of Avenue I regarding the burglary of a vehicle.  According to the report, investigation showed that the complainant had several items stolen out of her vehicle which was unlocked and parked in the driveway of her residence. 

*1:33pm-The Brownwood City Marshal served a warrant on 21-year-old Delia Denise Perez in the 300 block of Bluffview Drive.  According to the report, residents of the complex recognized the description of Perez as given by the marshal and pointed him to an apartment where she might be located.  A woman at the apartment, identified as Ciara Pope, stated that she did not know Perez and only she and her children were in the apartment.  After getting consent to search the apartment, Perez was located hiding in a bedroom.  Perez was arrested for the outstanding warrant and 20-year-old Ciarra Pope was arrested for Hindering Apprehension.  Pope’s two small children were taken by their grandmother for care while Pope is in custody.

*7:15pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1400 block of Austin Avenue regarding a suspicious person.    According to the report, the manager was speaking with 41-year-old Laura Hunt Duffer and upon investigation, it was determined that Duffer was operating a motor vehicle.  Duffer was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated.

Saturday, February 25

*12:33am-Brownwood Police received a phone call from a concerned parent who indicated that he needed options about his 16-year-old son who left his residence to go to a party and was refusing to come home.  The father asked the officer to visit the residence of the party and advise his son to return home, the report states.  According to the report, the officer arrived at the residence in the 2100 block of Center Avenue to find several minors had been drinking at the residence.  As a result of this call, 42-year-old Antanacio Shawn Garcia was arrested for making alcohol available to a minor.

*8:06am-Brownwood Police made a traffic stop in the 400 block of 8th Street.  During the stop, the driver, Mason McDonald was found to have a suspended driver’s license and was placed under arrest for Driving While License Invalid and Possession of Marijuana Less than 2 ounces.

*9:28am-Brownwood Police arrested Tex Russell for driving While License Invalid with Previous Conviction after he was stopped for disregarding a red light at Fisk and Austin Avenue.

*10:49am-Brownwood Police responded to the 300 block of E. Commerce regarding criminal mischief.  According to the report, a truck for sale had the windshield broken out possibly from a thrown beer bottle.  No suspect information was available at the time of the report.  This incident occurred between the evening of February 23rd and the morning of February 25th.

*12:26pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 2000 block of Vincent Street regarding Burglary of a Habitation.  According to the report and investigation, the complainant’s bicycle was stolen out of his open and under construction garage.  No suspect information was available at the time of the report.

*7:35pm-A Brownwood Police officer on patrol in the 1400 block of 11th Street observed a vehicle make an improper right turn from 11th Street onto Coggin Avenue.  According to the report, a traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Samuel Sikes, was found to have marijuana hidden in his mouth that he was attempting to swallow.  Sikes was arrested and charged with Tampering with or Fabricating Physical Evidence.  During a search of Sikes’ vehicle, a marijuana pipe containing a usable amount of marijuana was located, the report states.  Sikes was additionally charged with Possession of Marijuana less than 2 ounces.

*10:42pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1800 block of 13th Street regarding found drug paraphernalia.  According to the report, the complainant advised that he had found the paraphernalia while clearing out a storage.  The paraphernalia was taken to the Brownwood Police Department’s evidence room for destruction. 

*10:50pm-Brownwood Police responded to the report of a domestic disturbance in the 1600 block of 4th Street.  According to the report, during the investigation, visible injuries were noted on the victim.  29-year-old Deborah Raeellen McMillian of Bangs was placed under arrest for Assault with Injury Family Violence.

Sunday, February 26

*12:34am-A Brownwood Police officer made a traffic stop in the 500 block of W. Commerce regarding the vehicle failing to maintain a single lane.  The driver of the vehicle, identified as 33-year-old Catherine Ann Patric, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. 

*10:39am-Brownwood Police were called to the 1900 block of Elizabeth Drive regarding a hit and run accident which was believed to have happened overnight.   According to the report, the complainant’s truck had been struck causing minor damage.  Evidence collected from the scene gave descriptors of the suspect vehicle; however no suspect had been identified at the time of the report.

*2:04pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1200 block of W. Baker regarding found property.  According to the report, a bicycle was found in a field next to the road in the 1200 block of W. Baker.  The bike was placed in the property room until its owner can properly identify and claim it.

*3:44pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 400 block of W. Commerce regarding theft.  According to the report, a subject was being detained for theft.  The subject was issued a citation for theft and released.  Stolen property was recovered and returned to the store. 

*7:54pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1100 block of Riverside Park regarding criminal mischief.  According to the report, the complainant stated that the driver’s side window of her vehicle had been damaged by a known suspect.  After further investigation it was found that the complainant was also a victim of assault family violence.  No arrests had been made at the time of the report.

*7:56pm-Brownwod Police were dispatched to the 2200 block of Avenue B regarding identity theft.  According to the report, the complainant advised that an unknown person had used his PayPal account to make purchases online. 

Monday, February 27

*4:01am-Brownwood Police were called to the 3800 block of 4th Street regarding theft.  According to the report, an officer was dispatched to 2800 US Hwy 377S regarding theft and was informed of another convenience store theft at 3800 4th Street.  Upon the officer’s arrival, the clerk at the Food Plaza on Hwy 377S advised that a male subject attempted to steal a 30 pack of beer, and after a short struggle, the clerk was able to get the beer back.  After talking with the clerk at the 7-11 on 4th Street, the male subject had attempted to steal two 30 packs of beer unsuccessfully. 

All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
