Friday, February 20
*7:40 AM – A Brown County Sheriff’s investigator was working criminal interdiction in Brownwood when he noticed a pickup truck fail to signal a turn prior to making a right turn onto 3rd Street from Avenue H. According to the report, the investigator made a traffic stop on the vehicle and identified the occupants. The front seat passenger, identified as 25-year-old Arturo Allen Cadena of Brownwood, showed signs of nervousness, and the deputy asked him to exit the vehicle which led to a pat down that discovered a package of cigarettes containing a plastic bag of crystalline substance, the report states. After this discovery, a consent search of the vehicle yielded a glass pipe and another bag of the substance. Cadena was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 less than 1 gram. The driver, identified as 30-year-old Brandi Nicole McDaniel of Brownwood, had a suspended driver’s license and was arrested for driving while license invalid, the report states.
*10:29 AM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy initiated a traffic stop for a speed violation. This stop led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 40-year-old Sereio Castillo of Brownwood, for 2 outstanding warrants. He was also charged with possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 less than 1 gram. A glass pipe with a small baggie had been discovered in his vehicle during the stop, the report states. The substance in the baggie weighed 0.4 grams with packaging and field tested positive for methamphetamine, according to the report.
*6:08 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was called to the 8900 block of US Highway 183 in reference to a reckless driver. According to the report, upon arrival, the deputy observed a black Ford truck driving slowly in the southbound right lane; however, the truck was travelling northbound. The driver, later identified as 54-year-old David Lynn Patton of Lubbock, appeared to be unconscious, the report states. The deputy and a BCSO sergeant repeatedly commanded Patton to put the vehicle in park and tried to gain entry into the vehicle, but it was locked so they had to break the driver’s side window to get into the truck to keep Patton from driving off, according to the deputy’s report. Patton was taken out of the vehicle and placed into handcuffs. He was noted to be sweating profusely and not responsive to questions or commands, so EMS was called to the scene and it was determined that Patton’s blood sugar was low, the report states. He was treated and transported to the emergency room. A BCSO investigator came to the scene and moved the truck from the roadway and told the sergeant that he smelled marijuana in the vehicle, according to the report. During an inventory of the vehicle a “zig zag” package was found in the rear floorboard behind the center console, the report states. Inside the “zig zag” package was 1 un-smoked cigarillo and 1 burned cigarillo, which contained marijuana, so the package was taken as evidence, the report states. Patton was released from BRMC and placed under arrest for possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces.
*7:33 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy made a traffic stop for a speeding violation on CC Woodson. According to the report, the vehicle was traveling at a speed of 81 MPH in a 45 MPH zone. The driver of the vehicle, identified as James Paul Nix, appeared angry and told the deputy that he was trying to catch up with a the vehicle of a person who owed him rent money and has been avoiding him, the report states. The person Nix was chasing was identified and stated that Nix had attempted to run him off the road with his vehicle before the deputy made the stop on Nix, the report states. Nix was arrested and charged initially with reckless driving; however, the charge was later changed to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon due to the attempt Nix made to run the other driver off of the roadway, the report states. Nix was later released on $15,000 bond.
*11:36 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy responded to a residence on Pawnee Drive in North Lake Brownwood to a report of an unwanted person. The unwanted person was identified as 40-year-old John Kurt Tate of May. According to the report, witnesses stated that Tate had been expelled from a party earlier in the evening and had been driving past the property antagonizing party goers. Tate admitted to consuming alcohol and driving and demonstrated behavior indicative of being intoxicated, the report states. The deputy attempted to perform standard field sobriety tests on Tate, but he refused to complete the tests and was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated with an Open Container of Alcohol, according to the report. Tate was later released on $5,000 bond.
*33-year-old Rebecca Bacon of Brownwood turned herself in on a warrant related to theft equal or greater than $50 less than $500.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy arrested 49-year-old Maria Delores Robledo of Early on a warrant related to motion to revoke/duty striking fixture.
*39-year-old Theodore Lindsey Swanson of Brownwood turned himself in on a warrant related to theft.
Saturday, February 21
*11:46 AM – Brownwood Police were called to a hit and run accident in the Payless shoe store parking lot. According to the report, the owner of the vehicle which was struck was inside the store when the accident occurred; however, a passerby witnessed the accident and provided a description of the suspect and suspect vehicle. Because the suspect had made a purchase at the store, the suspect was identified as 33-year-old Beverly Renee Gandy of Brownwood, the report states. While the officer was talking with the store clerk, the witness located the suspect vehicle and followed it, according to the report. The officer was able to make a traffic stop and asked the suspect about the accident. Gandy stated she was unsure if she had struck anything but that she had insurance which would take care of the damage if she did, the report states. Because Gandy did not leave the required information including her name, the information about the vehicle’s owner as well as a statement regarding the circumstances of the collision which are required by law, she was placed under arrest for duty on striking unattended vehicle less than $200, the officer reported. During the investigation, Gandy claimed to have insurance; however, no proof of insurance was obtained, the report states. Gandy was additionally cited for failure to maintain financial responsibility.
*1:15 AM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was informed by a BCSO investigator that a vehicle was en route to Brown County from Coleman County that was possibly in possession of methamphetamine. According to the report, a traffic stop was made on the vehicle in the 500 block of E. Hall Street in Bangs for an expired registration sticker. The passenger, identified as 33-year-old Tara Marie Holland of Brownwood, was found to have methamphetamine residue in her purse and a probable cause search of the vehicle was performed, the report states. The search located 6.4 grams of methamphetamine including packaging in a small black film canister found inside of the trailer hitch of the truck, according to the report. A digital scale containing what appeared to be methamphetamine residue was also found inside the glove compartment of the truck, the report states. The driver, identified as 66-year-old Johnny Lee Strickland of Brownwood and Holland were arrested and charged with manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance penalty group 1 greater than 4 grams less than 200 grams. After Holland was released to jail staff, a small piece of methamphetamine weighing approximately 0.1 gram was located inside Holland’s purse, according to the report.
*2:04 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a residence on Iroquois Drive on a report of a terroristic threat. The complainant stated that a known male subject had made threatening motions with a knife towards her and another male at the intersection of Bayside Drive and Sea Breeze Drive, the report states. The complainant advised when the male ran up to their vehicle with the knife; she became afraid for her life.
*Brownwood Police arrested 41-year-old David Earl Baugh II of Brownwood on a warrant related to a parole violation.
*Brownwood Police arrested 45-year-old Chad William Beasley of Brownwood for assault family violence with previous conviction. Beasley was being held in the Brown County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bond.
*A Texas Parks and Wildlife Department game warden arrested 24-year-old Timothy Glenn Bell of Brownwood for possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 less than 1 gram. Bell is being held in the Brown County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bond.
*Early Police arrested 36-year-old Casey Alexander Durant of Early for assault causes bodily injury family violence.
*Brownwood Police arrested 26-year-old Josiphina Canelaria Gonzales of Brownwood on warrants related to open container in motor vehicle and violate promise to appear.
*Brownwood Police arrested 30-year-old William Nickerson for assault causes bodily injury family violence.
*Brownwood Police arrested 29-year-old Bethany Ann McCoy of Brownwood on a Martin County warrant related to theft of property greater than $1500 less than $20,000.
*Early Police arrested 25-year-old Zachary Orr of Austin for driving while license invalid with previous conviction.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 24-year-old Monty Stevenson Wiley of Early on a Johnson County warrant related to credit/debit card abuse. Wiley was being held in the Brown County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bond as of Monday morning.
Sunday, February 22
*2:28 AM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy, while patrolling, made a welfare check of a parked vehicle on County Road 197. According to the report, the intoxicated demeanor of the occupants resulted in a DWI investigation. The driver, identified as 43-year-old Sean Eric Eaton of Early, was eventually arrested for driving while intoxicated. Eaton consented to a blood specimen, which was taken at Brownwood Regional Medical Center, the report states.
*10:16 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy made a traffic stop on a Dodge pickup in about the 1200 block of County Road 439. According to the report, the driver, identified as 36-year-old Juan Manuel Martinez of May, was determined to only have an expired Texas ID card with multiple suspensions and no insurance for the vehicle. Martinez’s license plates were expired, the vehicle displayed registration insignia designated to a different vehicle, and it did not have any inspection insignia, the report states. Martinez was arrested for driving while license invalid/failure to maintain financial responsibility, display wrong vehicle registration insignia, and operating a vehicle with expired license plates.
*A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy went to a residence in the 900 block of Booker Street to search for 39-year-old October Tobie Salazar of Brownwood to execute an outstanding warrant. According to the report, an unknown female told him that Salazar was inside the house and the deputy asked for an additional unit to go around the back of the home. The deputy observed Salazar running north on Austin Avenue and ordered him to stop; however, he did not comply, the report states. Salazar was apprehended several minutes later on Lipscomb Street and additionally charged with evading arrest. Before being booked in, the deputy took Salazar to BRMC to be cleared by the medical staff. Salazar was being held in the Brown County Jail in lieu of $60,000 bond as of Monday morning.
*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 26-year-old Benjamin Eugene Cook of Mason on a Randall County warrant related to theft by check greater than $20 less than $500.
*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 25-year-old Brian Lee Lavender of Brownwood for driving while intoxicated.
*A Texas Parks and Wildlife game warden arrested 23-year-old Misty Dawn Tafelmeyer of Brownwood for possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 less than 1 gram. Tafelmeyer was later released on $10,000 bond.
*Brownwood Police arrested 55-year-old James Rodney Tindel of Brownwood for criminal trespass.
*Brownwood Police arrested 52-year-old Sue Raylene Wall of Early for theft of property equal or greater than $50 less than $500 and possession of drug paraphernalia.
