Thursday, February 21

*8:59 AM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy made a traffic stop on Hwy 279 northbound, near Rocky Creek Baptist Church, for speeding.  According to the report, radar indicated the vehicle was traveling 72 mph in a 60 mph zone and when the deputy made contact, the vehicle’s occupants acted very nervous.  The BSCO canine unit was dispatched and had a positive alert on the vehicle.  According to the report, a search of the vehicle found several hypodermic syringes and a spoon which contained a substance that tested positive for heroin.  The driver identified as 25-year-old Kelby Cauthen of San Marcos and passenger identified as 23-year-old Alexandra Bell of San Marcos were arrested, each charged with possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 less than 1 gram.

*6:05 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 4400 block of US Hwy 377S regarding a reckless driver.  According to the report, dispatched advised that the vehicle had pulled into the parking lot of the Section Hand Steak House.  When officer made contact with the female driver of the vehicle, he observed an open bottle of liquor in an overnight bag sitting in the back seat of the vehicle, the report states.  Communications advised that the female had an outstanding warrant out of Taylor County.  After failing sobriety tests, the driver, identified as 40-year-old Frances Porras Mata of Brady, was arrested for the warrant and charged with driving while intoxicated.  Mata was taken to the Brownwood Regional Medical Center where she provided a blood specimen and was later taken to the Brown County Jail.

*11:36 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 700 block of Almond Street regarding a terroristic threat.  According to the report, the complainant’s mother stated that her 11-year-old nephew had gotten into an altercation with another child, of approximately the same age, and the other child’s mother told her child “to cut the complainant’s nephew the next time he saw him.”

*11:53 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 800 block of 6th Street regarding a domestic disturbance.  According to the report, the complainant stated he had been assaulted by his grandfather.  After speaking to numerous witnesses, the investigation determined that an assault had occurred and 52-year-old Ronald Wayne Reynolds was subsequently arrested for assault family violence, the report states.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 34-year-old Joe Don Bailey for aggravated assault family violence.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 33-year-old Rolando Elizondo on a warrant for motion to revoke related to delivery of a dangerous drug.

Friday, February 22

*1:09 AM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1300 block of Durham Avenue regarding a civil matter.  According to the report, the complainant requested a trespass warning be issued to his ex-wife, which was issued.

*2:52 AM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 3700 block of Savoy Drive regarding criminal mischief.  According to the report, the complainant stated that she believed her neighbor threw eggs and sugar on her vehicle.  While officers were conducting an interview, another individual approached and indicated that someone had “slashed” her vehicle’s tires, the report states.  She believed the same individual is the suspect, according to the report.

*Early Police arrested Samuel Lee Scarborough for driving while intoxicated.
